Chapter 4

Harry's POV

I have never loved her from the beginning; I just took advantage of her mother's illness to marry her as orchestrated by my mother to execute our revenge. She is a loving and hardworking woman who happened to be a victim of my revenge plan. Poor her, having to pay for the sins of her mother.

I must admit that during the first year of our marriage, I was nearly falling for her love. She wouldn't stop trying to win me over—family dinners I barely attended, house chores, the laundry, early morning routines. She did all these regularly, but I never let them affect me because I had always wanted to inflict pain on her, not the other way around. Loving her was against the plan, as I was already married to Lily and had a son with her.

I hid my real family from everyone, including my friends, to ensure my legitimate wife, Lily, would not learn about my fake contract marriage with Celine. The marriage was fake and remained hidden until our third anniversary when I decided to give her fake divorce papers to make it look real and official.

Celine is a very smart woman, but not smarter than i, the master planner. I ensured her emotional trauma prevented her from examining the documents thoroughly, and everything went perfectly.

Balancing the two families was not a big deal; that's why I often went on long business trips. This allowed me to stay with my legitimate family and spend time on my business, which was also tedious.

My mother was always active in frustrating Celine the most. According to her, Celine reminded her of the past—the humiliation and mockery she endured from society after being divorced and discarded with nothing by my father.

I grew up not knowing who my father was because I was told he died a few months after the divorce. Growing up with my mother left a lasting and memorable mark on my heart. The bullies, the hate, the hurt of being labelled an illegitimate son everywhere I went, all contributed to my pains and led me into joining the local black family. In a short while, I immersed great wealth and affluence. Inflicting pain on Celine helped relieve the hurt I had endured all these years.

The plan was to get rid of her on our third anniversary. On that day, I took Lily out for lunch, leaving little Derick under the watchful care of his nanny. After lunch, I said I would take her to one of my properties, pretending that a displaced maid had asked to stay there. I made it seem real so she wouldn’t suspect any foul play.

When Celine walked in, I was unremorseful before my wife. But when Celine broke down in tears and ran away, I immediately staged a scene, accusing her of invading without permission. This allowed me to secure Lily in the bedroom while I addressed Celine, urging her to sign the divorce papers and leave.

The plan was executed successfully. You might wonder why I involved my legitimate wife. It was because that day was also our fourth anniversary, so I had to devise a plan to suit the occasion. I arranged to marry Celine exactly a year after my wedding to Lily, and with Celine kept in the dark, everything went according to plan.

After she left, I took Lily home and instructed my men to move everything out of the property, as I had already sold it two weeks earlier. I didn’t want any trace of Celine, and I was secretly monitoring her every move through one of my men assigned to the task.

I was interrupted in my thoughts when little Derick came running to me. I had just returned and decided to rest a little on the couch before going to freshen up.

“Haa, daddy is back!” he plastered a smile on his little face, displaying his partially filled tooths.

I stretched my arms and grabbed him into them. “Daddy is back. What did you keep for him?” I jingled, expecting him to give excuses as always.

“Daddy, I ate and saved some for you, but Auntie Eve insisted I finish my lunch,” he said, turning to meet my gaze for further explanation. “Daddy, sorry. I’ll save some for you next time,” he added, lowering his face and picking at his nails. I loved every moment spent with my four-year-old child. Whenever I was with him, I always engaged him in talks to build the bond I never had growing up.

I raised his head and bent to his level, maintaining eye contact. “It’s okay, Dek. Next time, make sure you finish your meals. Daddy loves you, and it’s his duty to always provide for you,” I pointed to his chest. With a little grin on his face, he responded, “Okay, Dad. I’ll save something else for you.” With that, I planted a loving kiss on his forehead and lifted him to sit on my lap.

“Is Mummy home?” I asked, trying to adjust his shirt to fit properly.

“No, Mummy is not back,” he replied, almost picking at his nails and smiling. “Mummy said she’ll get me another toy when she comes back,” he chuckled.

“Really?” I asked.

“Yes, Daddy. I’ll give you the toy,” his tone expressed care.

I smiled back at him. “No problem, son. Daddy will be delighted to have a toy.”

“Now go to your nanny. Let Daddy freshen up,” I said. With that, he took off and raced toward Eve. “Daddy, I love you,” he called out as he left. “Daddy loves you too,” I replied.

Just then, a beep sounded on my phone, and a message appeared: “Boss, she is at Jackie's bar.”

The message swept me off my feet and left me wondering while Jack always finds his way around me in an attempt for war, which was against the rules.

How? What would she be doing at that bar owned by my rival?... I asked in my thoughts.
