Harry's POV

The drive home was hasty, and at intervals, I glanced at her, but she chose to lean against the door with her gaze focused on the surroundings.

I entered the mansion swiftly with Lily following suit, almost dragging her legs sluggishly. My heart was racing, and I felt a pang of betrayal in the atmosphere. I knew Jack could do anything to get back at me, and he wouldn't have given that expression back at the bar if there weren't more to it.

“Start explaining,” I abruptly demanded, my expression and tone quivering with intense fury.

“What do you mean?” she replied, almost stuttering. I could sense her tension and knew my suspicions were becoming true. My heart grew heavier, and the urge to unleash my wrath surged, but I subconsciously restrained myself. I knew I needed to clear my doubts before jumping to undeterred conclusions.
