Harry's POV

The drive home was hasty, and at intervals, I glanced at her, but she chose to lean against the door with her gaze focused on the surroundings.

I entered the mansion swiftly with Lily following suit, almost dragging her legs sluggishly. My heart was racing, and I felt a pang of betrayal in the atmosphere. I knew Jack could do anything to get back at me, and he wouldn't have given that expression back at the bar if there weren't more to it.

“Start explaining,” I abruptly demanded, my expression and tone quivering with intense fury.

“What do you mean?” she replied, almost stuttering. I could sense her tension and knew my suspicions were becoming true. My heart grew heavier, and the urge to unleash my wrath surged, but I subconsciously restrained myself. I knew I needed to clear my doubts before jumping to undeterred conclusions.

“Tell me all you know about Jack, the billionaire at the bar.” I waited for a while, but no answers were forthcoming. My heart suddenly quickened at

AwakeCeline's povA shimmer of light passed through the room, and I slowly opened my eyes. The scent of disinfectant and medication filled the air, making me feel nauseous. As I scanned the room, realization struck me I was in a hospital. The sterile white sheets and the stand next to me confirmed it."Ahh," I groaned, my head throbbing and my body feeling weak. I couldn't recall how I ended up here. The last thing I remembered was sobbing in my room, and then... nothing. Darkness. So, how did I end up here? I groaned, pressing my slender fingers against my head as sharp pain spread through it.Still lost in thought, I suddenly noticed Evelyn entering the room. I let out a sigh of relief and watched as she approached, her gaze filled with concern."You're awake!" she exclaimed, then sat beside the bed, her mood heavy with worry."What happened? How did I end up here?" I asked, but then a surge of fear washed over me, and I quickly added, "How's my baby? Is he alright?" My hands dropp

Shocking revelation Celine's pov I swiftly got out of bed in an attempt to charge and power on the phone. I couldn't shake off the urgency I felt; I knew I needed to read the text to satisfy my curiosity and ease my wondering heart. It turned on moments later, and I quickly swiped it open to reveal its content. “Hooked up in activities, will relate to you soon.” “Just that” I snapped. Those lines were too curt and devoid of emotion, which only left me deep in thought. “He could be tense with work-related issues,” I whispered to myself, giving excuses for him. The night seemed longer than usual. I tossed on the bed, tightening my grip on the bed cover, shoving the pillow back and forth in frustration. Soon, I drifted off to sleep. I woke up the next morning with my head throbbing, and a wave of nausea surged through me. “This illness,” I cursed. It's been like this since I became pregnant; the morning nausea was something my body had grown used to by now, and it lingered

INTERVIEW “What is the issue, Celine? Why was your voice in disarray?” Evelyn's concerned voice surged. “I couldn't shake off the urgency I felt, so I had to skip work just to come over.” Her gaze narrowed at my broken body.I held her wrist and sobbed even more. “How could life be this cruel to me? Why am I always the tool? Why do they always break my heart, leaving it in shambles after planting love in it?” I yelled in frustration, gripping her hand tightly.“Calm down, Celine, whatever the case may be,” she expressed, tapping my shoulders and tucking my hair behind my ears. She lifted her hands toward my face, cupping it. “Celine, calm down,” she repeated, her gaze locked on mine. She leaned forward into an embrace, tapping my back with one hand and stroking my hair with the other.I managed to calm down after moments of outburst and hurt. Evelyn helped me off the floor, and I sat on the bed. She scanned my expression in bewilderment; I could sense the worry in her heart.“Can you

Uncertainty Harry's POV Why can't I figure out where this mixed feeling is seething from? A feeling of uncertainty—ridiculous. All my time in this group has led them through countless dealings, each proving productive with our prey either subjected or taken off the surface of the earth. Why, then, is there an exception in my heart about this particular mission? I paced back and forth in my office, deep in contemplation, wringing my hands and reaching for pointless admiration. My heart wandered like a wounded lion. My lips wobbled, and my gaze was fixed on the desk. I spotted a file unattended, flipping it open and scanning through its contents. My brows furrowed with every passing minute. “Why is this still on the desk when I distinctly recall telling Mag to take up the deal.” I thought. I couldn't hold back, my face contorted in fury. I reached for the telecom and dialed in a jiffy. "Come see me now." "Sir," her voice surged a few seconds later. I raised my brows and scow

Futile execution Harry’s pov He lost track of the road but swiftly directed the steering, almost landing on the side track where there was a barricade. I noticed his hands trembling, but his eyes were fixed on the road. "Who could be tracking us?" I asked, almost subconsciously, my gaze fixed on the rearview mirror. I could barely see through, but I observed it was a black limousine. The car sped up even more, and every passing minute felt like hell, a mixed feeling of uncertainty spreading across my spine. Never had I been in such a situation before. Everything always worked as planned, but this time, it was different. Soon, the car halted, and I narrowed my eyes at Louis, curiosity in my tone. "Why the stop?" My gaze was fixed on his reflection in the rearview mirror. "Boss, I lost track of the car," he uttered under his breath. I gasped, letting out a sigh of relief. What was uncertain was who the heck was tracking us. A flicker of annoyance crossed my face when my t

Why Harry!Celine's POVHe remained silent, nodding his head and repeatedly glaring at the file before him. I couldn't figure out what was going through his mind; his expression was unreadable. The air in the room suddenly became tense despite the air conditioning, and I became uncomfortable almost instantly.I had prayed and longed for this job, but as the pressure mounted, the urge to excuse myself and catch my breath surged. I needed fresh air, away from his annoying and stern presence. Just as I was about to say something, he raised his brows, and our gazes locked. I suspected he must have sensed my sudden change in expression. I subconsciously looked down, avoiding his arrogant, domineering, piercing grey eyes.I sensed he was scrutinizing my expression because I could see him in my peripheral view."Most times, I marvel at the class of people who randomly choose names," he said, his words laced with fury and disgust. My lips parted in disbelief, and I wished the earth would open up so I could hide my face. She was practically the reason Harry divorced me, I thought to myself. How could I have forgotten the face of that woman I despised so much just a few months ago? The one reason my life was left in shambles, forcing me to start all over again. The first time was at the suite when he confronted Jack, and now at the mall with her, his arms wrapped around her waist.I felt a stab in my chest as I watched them approach. Her deathHarry's POV A surge of relief washed through me as I anticipated her call. I had sent her another gift just yesterday and hoped she had received it.Morning had already come, yet I hadn’t heard from her; not even a text. The earlier relief was gradually fading away. She was right to treat me the way she did; I had tried so hard to absorb that truth. Still, I couldn’t shake off the urge to go see Mum. She had given me false information about Dad’s death, but Louis had advised me to calm down before confronting her. That advice, however, had lingered long enough. It had been two days of intense worry and sorrow. Each time there was a glimmer of hope, it drowned in an ocean of grief and bitterness. I doubted if I could hold on any longer; I couldn’t heal unless I sorted things out quickly. I pulled my phone out of my breast pocket and hesitated for a moment before typing a text to Celine.Countless texts had been sent over the past few days, yet none received a reply. Still, I

Another Battle? My heart wandered to what Sharon had said earlier, and I couldn't shake off the urgency I felt to meet her. She sounded too serious, and whatever important information she had to disclose, I knew it was related to the past. As much as I never wanted to revisit my past, I still needed to know what it was all about.I had the urge to call Evelyn, but I restrained myself. There was no need to burden her with my issues anymore. I tried to grasp sleep throughout the night as I awaited the morning, but all my efforts proved futile, and I was already giving up in frustration.I reached my hand to the head of the bed where my podcast device was. I tapped to play the popular music streaming on it, tuning it to a lower key and pitch before slumping back onto the bed. I carefully freed my mind from all worries, and soon, the music synced with my heart. Slowly, I closed my eyes, and soon, I drifted off to sleep.*****Sitting in this popular resort at the far-right end of the larg

Intriguing SuspenseCeline’s POVMy heart shattered even more as I watched his reactions and flimsy flirting excuses, which he thought would win me over. I felt like I was losing it. He had taken something precious from me in the past, and as if that wasn’t enough, he still had to hide it from me; an act I despised so much.“I never want to see you near us again,” I cursed, looking intensely at his derailed expression, masked with even greater pain and hurt.“Please, for the…”“Just go,” Henry cut in, and he swallowed hard. I hated seeing my son angry, just as much as I felt the pain of a reopened wound. If my mum were alive, I wouldn’t have gone through the torment I endured. I doubted I would have faced the ridicule and humiliation his singular action caused me. Glaring at him, still crouched on the floor, I felt like strangling the life out of him for taking what was so precious and priceless to me, yet I tried so hard to restrain the urge.“Why are you still pleading? I distinctly remembered tucking the diary into the shelves, so how did it end up here, on the floor in this room?"How did you get that?" I asked, the perplexed look on my face betraying my confusion. She scoffed, shooting me a deadly stare that set my entire body aflame. "You still have the nerve to ask that? Isn't it your handwriting on it? You're just so pathetic," Evelyn spat, and I winced."Just get out of here this minute!" Celine barked, and my heart sank even more. Her pained expression and the tears on her cheeks tugged at something inside me. I tried to reach for her, but Evelyn slapped my hand away, rolling her eyes derisively."Never try that again," she snapped. Celine said nothing, her head buried in her hands, her face a picture of intense disdain.I crouched low, dropping to my knees. "Please, I'm so sorry for whatever you saw in

You know you don’t need to walk fast in your condition. Slow and steady,” I teased, and she scoffed.“So, I shouldn’t walk fast anymore? Where is it written?” she snapped.“In your antenatal instructions, of course.”“No, you could have just called me a little child that should crawl instead.” She finally reached me.“You aren’t dressed yet.”“Yeah, but I’m going upstairs to get dressed now. Aren’t you coming over to help me with buttoning up?” I asked.“You should have just taken me along with you. It’s obvious you were actually waiting for me, pretending not to care,” she teased, com

I only pulled away when I realized she was out of breath. My gaze fixed on her intensely; I could see the fire and sparks buried within her eyes. I wasn't going to let go. I had long desired this moment, but somehow, I was denied it by the circumstances that followed thereafter.I kissed her again, enjoying every moment as she groaned, feeling the tingling sensation in her body. Her hands strayed to my back, her fingers digging deep through my shirt. I kissed her even more, lifting her to sit on the table while keeping our lips locked. My hands moved through her long, flowing gown, sliding up from her knees to her thighs. Her groans intensified, stirring my desire to continue. I could feel myself getting hard, not wanting to stop anytime soon.Just then, a bit of sanity struck me, hitting me hard enough to reset my senses. I stopped in my

Or was he just putting on an act to get at me?“Why did you say that?” Evelyn asked, her eyes widened in shock as well. I silently thanked her in my heart for speaking up.“Because it's not the right time for that. Besides, my top priority is to ensure she's in perfect condition and not the other way around.”“Alright, if you say so,” Evelyn exclaimed.“But Dad, I can't wait for us to be one happy family again. Besides, Mum isn’t complaining about it, is she?” He turned to ask me, and I froze in place.“Mum!”“Yes, cutie, not really,” I replied, and he grinned.“You see, Mum isn’t complaining.”“Can we drop this issue for now? That was just the beginning in the loom of darkness.I couldn't utter a word, even when I tried and struggled to yell out.
