Officer Thompson's eyes refocused on the present, and he gazed calmly at Jackson.

"I'm not afraid of you, Jackson. And I won't be swayed by your offers. I’m not interested."

“I’m helping you here,” Jackson sneered. "And you're making a big mistake, Thompson. I'm not a man to be trifled with."

Thompson's expression was sympathetic. "I pity you, Jackson. You don't know what kind of storm is coming your way. But I'll leave you to your fate."

His words hit Jackson like a slap in the face. For a moment, Jackson's mask slipped, and Thompson saw a glimmer of uncertainty in his eyes. But it was quickly replaced by a scowl.

"You'll regret this, Thompson," Jackson snarled.

Thompson smiled kindly. "Goodbye, Jackson. Enjoy your soup."

And with that, he turned and walked out of the soup house, leaving Jackson to his thoughts. Jackson's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with wonder and curiosity. What did Thompson know? And what was this storm that was coming his way? But Thompson was already gone, v
