CHAPTER – A RUSHED WEDDING

Aaron stood near the entrance, watching as guests arrived. Everything was happening so fast. Initially, today was just supposed to be an engagement announcement, but at the last minute, he had changed his mind. He pressured Clara, convinced her, and now, tonight, they were having a wedding. A small one—just close family, business associates, and, of course, the press.

His mother walked in, a proud smile on her face.

“You did well, my son,” she said, adjusting the cuff of his suit. “Snatching Clara away from Alex… Now, you’re about to become the son-in-law of one of the richest ministers in the country. This is a victory.”

Aaron smirked. “It was never about love, Mother. This is business.”

“And that’s exactly why I’m proud of you.” She patted his shoulder. “Love is a distraction. Wealth and power—that’s what matters.”

Aaron didn’t respond. He already knew that. He had learned it the hard way.

After a brief conversation with his mother, he excused himself and

The day had been long and draining, and by the time Alex handed me the divorce documents, I felt like my body was only being held together by sheer willpower. I stared at the papers, my hands trembling as I flipped through them. Every line was a reminder of the life I was leaving behind—the years of torment, the child I had to protect, and the baby I had lost.“We’ll file this as soon as possible,” Alex said, his voice firm but kind. “You’re said you want for custody of Josh and 50% of Aaron’s properties. That’s fair, considering what you’ve endured.”I nodded, my throat too tight to respond.Alex walked me to Aaron’s office, where the confrontation was inevitable. Aaron was leaning back in his chair, his expression one of smug indifference as Alex handed him the papers.“You’re making a mistake,” Aaron said coldly, his eyes flicking from the documents to Alex. “Stay out of this, Alex. This is my family, my business.”Alex’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t back down. “Your family?” he sc

Chapter 3Aaron’s house was packed with mourners dressed in somber shades of black, murmuring condolences and exchanging hushed whispers. The air was thick with the scent of fresh lilies and the weight of fabricated grief. A large, framed photograph of Miranda rested on an easel, her smile frozen in time—a cruel contrast to the lies being spread about her even in death.Aaron stood at the center of the gathering, playing the role of the grieving husband. His voice carried a false tremor as he addressed the room. “Thank you all for coming,” he began, dabbing at his dry eyes with a handkerchief. “This has been a difficult time for me and my family. Miranda… she was troubled in the end. I suspect she was having an affair, and when she couldn’t handle the guilt, she ran off to meet her lover. I don’t know who killed her, but I will ensure justice is served.”Gasps rippled through the crowd, and Aaron’s mother, Clara, placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. His sisters, Lilian and Grace,

Chapter 4I opened my eyes to the faint hum of machines and the sterile scent of antiseptic. My head felt heavy, like I’d been dragged through a fog I couldn’t escape. Blinking slowly, I stared at the ceiling, unfamiliar and cold. A quiet beeping sound echoed in the room, steady and rhythmic, grounding me in the present.Where am I?I tried to sit up, but a sharp ache spread through my body, forcing me to stay still. Panic crept in as I looked around the room—white walls, a window with sheer curtains letting in soft light, and a man sitting beside me, his head bowed as though deep in thought.“Who…?” My voice came out weak, raspy. The man’s head snapped up, and his eyes—dark and intense—locked onto mine.“Miranda,” he breathed, his voice filled with relief. “You’re awake.”I frowned, my heart racing. “Who are you? Miranda…That’s my name?”His expression shifted, a flicker of pain crossing his face. “It’s me, Alex,” he said gently, leaning closer. “Don’t you remember?Yes…You are Mirand

The room was dim, illuminated only by the soft glow of a desk lamp where Alex worked silently. The sound of his pen scratching against paper filled the air, but his attention kept drifting toward Miranda, asleep on the hospital bed. Her chest rose and fell in steady rhythm, her face peaceful—a fragile moment of calm after months of torment.Suddenly, a sharp scream shattered the stillness.Alex’s head shot up, his heart racing. Miranda bolted upright in bed, her face drenched in sweat, her eyes wide with terror. “No! Stop!” she screamed, clutching her head. Her breathing came in ragged gasps, her body trembling uncontrollably.“Miranda!” Alex was at her side in an instant, his hands on her shoulders, steadying her. “Mira, it’s okay. You’re safe. I’m here.”Tears streamed down her face as she looked at him, her voice breaking. “I remembered,” she choked out. “I remembered everything, Alex. Chapter 6:The drip I had ripped out earlier now fixed back in place. My body was still too weak, rejecting the medication. I turned to the other side of the bed, sobbing quietly. The door creaked open, and Alex walked in. To be honest, I didn’t want to talk to anyone right now. My head was pounding, and I was overwhelmed with confusion.“Hey… Are you alright?” Alex asked softly, but I didn’t respond. I was holding back my tears, unable to bring myself to look at him.“Mira, are you crying?”“No, I’m not…” I managed to say, choking on my own tears.“What’s wrong?” Alex pressed gently.I wiped my tears and finally turned to face him. “What’s wrong? Alex… I was pushed down the stairs. My son watched me struggle for breath in a pool of my own blood. I lost my baby, got divorced, and my ex-husband tried to kill me. I have no idea where my son is… Why did I even survive?”I broke down, sobbing uncontrollably. Alex said nothing at first, silently watching me cry for what felt like hours. Fi

Chapter 7. Alex sat at the far end of the large dining hall, his eyes fixed on Josh, who looked small and frail in the oversized chair. The boy’s face was pale, his eyes tired, and he seemed to have lost weight. The family event hadn’t officially begun yet, and Aaron along with the rest of the family, was too busy to notice. Alex , however, couldn’t take his eyes off Josh. When he saw the boy wipe a tear from his cheek, Alex got up and walked over to him. He crouched down so they were at eye level.“Hey, buddy, are you okay?” Alex asked gently.Josh hesitated, then burst into quiet tears. “I miss my mummy,” he whispered, his voice trembling. “I want to be with her, but I can’t…because she’s dead.”Alex’s heart clenched. He wanted to tell Josh the truth, to let him know that Mira was alive, but he couldn’t—not yet. Instead, he placed a comforting hand on the boy’s shoulder. “I know you miss her. She loves you so much, Josh. She wouldn’t want you to be sad.”Josh sniffled, his tiny han

There was something more pressing to take care of.Mira’s family lawyer. For years, Mira had lived under Aaron’s control, believing every word he told her. Aaron had convinced her that her parents hadn’t left her anything when they died, claiming their family’s debts had wiped out whatever was left. She never questioned it, never looked into it herself. She was too wrapped up in Aaron’s lies and manipulation. But Alex didn’t buy it. He knew Aaron too well to trust a single thing he said, and if Mira was going to reclaim her life, she needed to have a strong foundation—financially and socially. He pulled up outside the lawyer’s office. CHAPTER — A NEW STRATEGY(Mira’s POV)I tapped my fingers against the table, my mind running through every possible scenario. The more I thought about Alex’s plan—the dramatic entrance, the accusations, the confrontation—the more I realized it wasn’t the right move. It was too direct, too reckless. Aaron wasn’t just any man. He was calculated, manipulative. If I came in screaming, exposing him in front of everyone, he would find a way to turn it against me. He always did.No, I needed to be smarter than that.“I don’t think we should do it that way,” I said suddenly, breaking the silence.Alex raised a brow. “What do you mean?”I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts. “If I walk in and start throwing accusations, he’ll immediately be on high alert. Everyone will. They’ll see me as a threat, and they’ll do everything to discredit me, to push me away again. I can’t afford that.”He folded his arms, listening. “So what’s the alternative?”I leaned forward. “I make an entrance, yes, b

The city was slowly coming to life, but my mind was already racing ahead of the day’s events. The wedding. The confrontation. The beginning of my revenge.Alex stood by the railing, his back turned to me as he sipped his coffee. His posture was calm, but I knew better. He was thinking, calculating, planning every step just like I was.“You’re up early,” he said without turning around.I pulled the thin cardigan around me tighter. “I barely slept.”He finally turned to face me, his sharp eyes scanning my face as if searching for cracks. “I figured.” He gestured to the small table with a cup of coffee waiting for me. “Sit. JOSH AT HOMEAaron dragged Josh into the house with a firm grip on his wrist. The moment they stepped inside, the atmosphere felt heavy, suffocating even. The grand living room was dimly lit, the air thick with tension. Clara, Aaron’s fiancée, sat on the couch with a fake, sweet smile plastered on her face, and beside her was his grandmother-the woman Josh never really liked.Josh crossed his arms, glaring up at his father. “I told you I wanted to stay at Uncle Alex’s,” he muttered under his breath.Aaron shot him a sharp look. “You are my son, and this is your home. You will stay here.”Josh bit his tongue, knowing that arguing would only make things worse. Instead, he shifted his gaze to the floor, trying to push away the anger bubbling inside him.Aaron sighed and walked toward the bar, pouring himself a drink. He took a slow sip before turning back to Josh. “Tomorrow is my wedding day, and I expect you to be on your best behavior.”Josh didn’t respond, his small fingers tightening
