Chapter 4

Emily glanced at Barbara calmly. When their eyes met, Emily obviously seemed shocked. "Why is Barbara here?" She wondered..

Despite being taken aback, Emily smiled and greeted. "Sister*

However, Barbara merely glanced at her coldly and replied. "Miss, I'm afraid you got the wrong person"

"Barbara, I know you blame me for what happened, but it has nothing to do with me. I can't help it if Dexter falls for me..."

Although three years had passed, Barbara's wound were still sore and her heart still ached at the mention of her past. Unwilling to show her weakness to them, she turned to leave.

However, Freya, who was obviously emboldened by Emily's presence, instantly rushef to Barbara and grabbed hold of her before shoving her hand. The juice in the glass Barbara was holding immediately spill over her body and some got onto Freya's clothes. She screamed, "Hey, what's wrong with you?"

Barbara saw how visibly pleased Freya was she she said this. She could tell that Freya was convinced that she was a waitress and had intended to slander her so that could get the hotel to fire her.

Barbara's expression turned frigid. In the past, she would have slapped Freya in the face. But now, she was no longer Dexter's wife and nobody would be there to protect her. Thus she could only force herself to suppress her anger and leave.

Freya and Emily exchanged a look when they noticed that Barbara did nothing to fend for herself. In the next moment, they reached over, yanked her hair and doused their red wine down her neck.

The cold, red wine trickled dwn Barbara's neck and soaked her clothes. Somewhat intentionally, Freya bumped Emily with her body and Emily too splashed her glass of wine on Barbara's face.

Barbara could feel her eyes burning with pain. She initially planned to let things slide and leave, but was now angered by Freya's restless pursuit.

Freya and Emily were birds of the same feather. Judging from how they were treating her, Barbara could tell that things would not end well today. Freya's tricks were exactly the same as what Emily used back then and they would certainly continue to slander her. Barbara was also not to be trifled with and found no reason to key them off the hook anymore since they were bent on making her the bad guy.

Boiling with rage, Barbara raised the plate in her hand and smashed it until Freya's head.

Freya's screamed, for she never expected Barbara to retaliate when she was already in such a pathetic state. The gravy trickled down Freya's hair into her eyes and stung them exceptionally badly, for Barbara enjoyed spicy food and all the gravy were spicy.

Freya let out a heartrending scream and instantly released Barbara's hair.

Ignoring Freya's shrieks, Irene went on to slap Emily's face. Emily was completely dumbfounded, for she never expected Barbara to be tough. Just when her fave was stinging from the slap, Barbara grabbed a bowl of grady and splashes it into Emily's expensive evening dress designed by a famous designer. Emily was terribly upset.

In pain and rage, Emily ignored her public image and shrieked. "Somebody help! This woman has gone crazy!"

Many people where startled by the commotion and glanced over.tbe security guards too rushed over. As this was the party for the family of the upper class, the security guards were unusally snobbish. Barbara who was dressed in an ordinary cloth was naturally taken for a waitress. Thus without even getting their facts rights, the guard immediately shoved her out of the hall.

As Freya's eyes were burning from the chill gravy, she was quickly sent to the hospital. After Dexter heard the news, he rushed over only to see Emily with a clear palm print on her face and her expensive evening dress stained with soup.

Surprised by the awkward state she was in, he asked. "What happened?"

Emily was actually afraid that har Dexter woulf come to know that Barbara appeared at the party. However, she knew that she couldn't hide the truth from him now that things have reached this state. Thus she cried and complained, "Dexter,I saw Barbara, she's working as a waitress here. Fkr some reasons, she deliberately spilled juice some and Freya when she saw us. Freya couldn't put up with it and scolded her, so she she suddenly went wild and dumbed food on Freya. She even slapped me....."

Dexter was stunned and quickly scammed the surrounding s but he did not spit Barbara anywhere. Emily then forced out tears and continued. "My clothes were soiled and I got slapped by her. Even Freya's eyes were sting by the chilly gravy. Miss Barbara planned to aim for me but freya took the blow for me"

Dexter's expression was unreadable as he stared at her pitiful face, "where's she?"

"She was taken by the security guards"

"Let's go have a look"

After Dexter said this, he supported Emily who was in a mess, put if the hell.

Barbara lowered her head as she remained seated on the sofa. Her body was dripping wet from the wine, and she finally calmed down when she was brought here.

She should have put up with them earlier on, but instead she lost control of herself and stirred up a fuss like this. Jeremy certainly would not let her off the hook. He was a rich playboy with a foul temper and was especially fierce towards her.

Nathan White had forced Jeremy to accept Barbara as his personal assistant.

Thus, Jeremy had always disliked her and made things difficult for her. Now that she created a scene, she felt certain that he would fire her.

Just when she was fraught with anxiety, the door was pushed open and a gust of cold air blew over. Barbara looked up and stared right into a pair of dark unreadable eyes.
