~Ryan~
“NO!! please!!” I heard feint screams in the background.
People pleading desperately for their lives, as I crouched behind the remains of our sacred building.
“Ryan hide!” I heard distant scream of mother.
I obeyed and lowered my head behind the building.
Soon after I heard father's loud roar, peeping through the remains, I saw him pounced on two of the rival packs werewolves.
And in the next minute, he tore off their faces, blood dripping down from his mouth.
“Arggh!!”
Dad yelled in pain, as two more werewolves jumped on his back, bringing him down to a knee.
But even the two of them weren't enough to take down an Alpha!
He gathered strength and returnex back to his two feet.
But in a flash two more werewolves took two deadly swipes at his knee, swiping him off his feet.
And then they swarmed him! Coming from all directions, wolves pounced on him, some take swipes with their sharp claws, some landing heavy punches to his abdomen.
“Dad!” the corner of my eyes began heating up, as I watched my father painfully leaving me.
His eyes locked onto mine, pride and love in his eyes.
And with a sweet smile, I watched him gently shut his eyes and welcomed death.
They turned to Mom, she stood just a few feet away from them.
But, she was ready for a fight. Her hands folded into a fist, her wolf hungry for blood. I could see the rage in her eyes.
She was going to make them pay for what they did to Dad.
They rushed towards her, but she didn't back down.
She flew into the air, and on landing used her razor sharp claws to tear into the flesh of two of the werewolves.
But they were too much even for her. She fought very defiantly, biting, scrapping, punching at them.
But soon the numbers caught up to her. A few took her by the legs and brought her down to the floor.
Her body make a disturbing thud noise on hitting the ground.
“Mom!”
Blood flowed rapidly as her body laid lifeless on the floor.
I couldn't hold back the tears anymore. I let them roll down my cheeks.
Twenty years since that day, but the pain, was still as fresh as the first day.
Seeing Mom and Dad die right in front of me, was a sight that left a scar on me.
I've spent the last fiveteen years trying to rebuild the Star Raiders pack and take it back to the pinnacle of the Werewolf kingdom.
And now, I can finally claim I've accomplished that.
But there was one more thing, i needed to fulfill to rest my conscious and the make good on the promise I made my parents at their funeral.
‘Find the location of the Shadow Blood pack, the pack that ruined everything and killed my parents, and tear everything they have into shreds.’
“Alpha Ryan!” a voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
“Yes,Trevor!”
“.. Well, I heard about you decision to travel to the White Snow pack.”
Trevor said.
Trevor, serves as my Beta and my most trusted allie and friend.
We were one of five survivors from the invasion twenty years ago.
He's helped me in every step to build back this pack.
“Is there a problem?” I raised a brow at his statement.
“Not really. It's just a bit sudden. Is there any reason in particular?”
Trevor asked.
“Well, if you must know, I'll soon be thirty and I don't have a mate.
And it looks like I might not have. So Alpha Zaphyr has decided to volunteer and hand pick me a wife who is sure to compliment me.”
I carefully explained to Trevor. His expression wasn't convincing, and I could feel another question coming.
“But can you trust Zaphyr or any lady he picks for you?”
Trevor had grown to be very protective and vigilant of my every move.
Sharing the same traumatic experience isn't easy for anyone.
We were all we have, so we have to look out for each other.
“Of course I can't. I don't just trust anyone. I've sent out a few of my men to fetch me a report of the pack and every lady who isn't mated.
You'll get the report once they arrive, so put your mind to rest.”
Trevor heaved a sigh of relief.
“Sir, I'm also here with quite an important news!”
Trevor's tone changed a bit.
“Yes? What is it?” I asked walking closer to him.
“Our men were all able to identify a Shadow Blood pack member.”
“What?” my eyes flung wide open is shock. For a second I couldn't believe my ears.
“Yes sir. We have him tied up in the dungeon room.”
Trevor continued.
“Take me to him, NOW!!” I ordered barely containing my excitement.
For years, I've been looking for even just a member of the Shadow Blood pack. And then force the location from him before putting him to rest.
I followed Trevor to the dungeon room. Sitting in the middle, his head lowered, tied up to a chair, my key to my revenge.
I walked up to him, and on seeing my arrival, a shady smirk appeared on his face.
“What's your name?” I asked him, he immediately scoffed me.
“That's why you tied me up here to ask my name?”
He mocked me, but he was very lucky I was a hothead.
“It's important to know your name, so when you die we'll know what to write on your grave, huh?”
I shot back at him.
“Listen, let's not make this hard on any of us. Corporate with me an maybe you'll live, if you don't then I'll give you a slow and painful death!”
I watched him shiver in fear, the smirk was wiped off his face.
“You can't kill me. You need me!”
“Need you?”
I immediately shifted into a wolf. My body doubling in size.
And with my shape claws, I pierced Depp into his skin.
“Argg!!!” he let out a loud scream in pain.
“Where is your pack located boy?” I asked, my claws still firmly sunk into his skin.
“....The Northern District, I swear!!” he yelled out, the pain too unbearable.
“Thank you!” I pulled out my claws. “
Leave him here, he might yet be useful.
Gather the soldiers, after our visit to the White snow pack, we're headed to the Northern District!”
~Elena~When I finally got to my room, I rummaged through my closet looking for a suitable and decent dress I could wear, but none was fine enough. “Wait!”Suddenly, I remembered my mom sew me a gown for my coming of age ceremony.its ceremony held once we were reach fifteen years. It was a white gown. I refused to wear it though. A dress like that would have made me the center of attention, something I don't like. I put on the white dress my mom made for me for the first time, and I couldnt help but gasp at how fitting the dress was on my body. I admired myself in a mirror for a few more minutes, something I wasn't really accustomed to doing. But today I had to look perfect, I just had a tinge that my fated mate will be from the Star Raiders pack and will carry me back to his pack so we can live our life. Just as I was admiring myself in the mirror, Crystal barged into my room. Does she not knock? My heart twitched in rage seeing her standing across me.She was really dresse
Elena's POV I opened my eyes wide at what was in front of me, my supposed mate was holding Crystal lovingly, and worse, they were set to marry. How could this happen? This was suppose to be my mate, my union and my marriage. I shifted backwards, my heart beating so fast as it were going to chatter any moment.Horror, sadness, pain, regret and heartache overshadowed me at that moment. I didn't know what to feel at that moment. Should I be angry at father for setting Crystal up with my mate? At Crystal for marrying him? But then again, she didn't know. But still, the pain of seeing her with my mate was to much for me. If I stayed any longer i might cause a scene. I didnt want that. At that very moment, I took to my heels and ran out of the party. I ran as fast as my legs could take me, into the woods.Tears dropped to my face likerain battering me. I screamed at the top of her voice, letting out my frustration. I yelled in pain, suddenly the weather changed, and a heavy stor
~Ryan~I stood there, stiff, jaw so tight I thought I might snap a damn tooth. The Crystal or whatever, I didn’t even know—was all over me, practically draping herself across my side, showing off the mark she’d just put on my neck like it was some trophy. Her voice was this low, smug purr, but it barely registered.Because I felt nothing. No pull. No warmth. No bond. Just... nothing. And I was trying to act normal, trying to keep my face blank, but inside, everything felt wrong. And then— Like a bolt of lightning straight under my skin—zap—it hit me.My head snapped up so fast it made me a little dizzy, eyes scanning, heart picking up, wolf stirring like he’d just been shocked awake.Mate.The word pounded through me, a single beat that rattled in my chest. My wolf surged forward, claws scraping inside me, eyes narrowing, searching—desperate. And then I saw her. Ellie. Her eyes met mine from across the crowd, and the second it happened, it was like the ground tilted. Like the air g
I ran.Fast. Hard. Too hard. My breath was all wrong—sharp, shallow, barely even getting in—but I didn’t care.I couldn’t care.My nails dug into my palms, deep enough that I knew there’d be marks, maybe even blood, but it didn’t matter. None of it mattered.Ryan’s words still burned. Careless.Like I was some reckless idiot. Like I hadn’t been fighting. Like I hadn’t almost died. And my father—my own father—had told him that. Had handed him the words like a weapon, let him throw them at me like they meant nothing.Like I meant nothing.I could barely see straight as I tore through the trees, my pulse pounding so hard it felt like my skull might crack open. I was marching to father's room. I had to see him. He needed to explain this. I always thought he hated me, but this was too much. I had to find him. Had to make him understand. And then—I stopped.Just like that. Everything inside me screeched to a halt so fast I felt like I might collapse.Ryan.Kneeling.Beside Crystal. My f
I couldn’t stop shaking.I tried. God, I tried.Curled in on myself, pressed my face into the pillow so hard I couldn’t breathe, dug my fingers into the sheets like I could hold myself together. But it didn’t matter. The sobs still came. Loud. Broken. Ugly. My chest felt like it was caving in, my throat was raw, my whole body locked up like it wasn’t even mine anymore.I should’ve left.I should’ve fucking left.I should’ve walked away before this moment could brand itself into my skin, before it could claw its way into my bones. Before it could rot inside me like something sick and twisted and permanent. But I didn’t.And now?Now I was here.Falling apart over something I could never, ever change.God, I was so stupid. So fucking stupid. If Mom were still here, she wouldn’t have let this happen. She wouldn’t have let him do this to me.She would’ve fought for me. She would’ve looked my father in the eye and dared him to say that my mate—**my mate—**belonged to someone else. But she
~Ryan~The blessing was bullshit. A show. A well-rehearsed, well-polished formality. Nothing more.Zaphyr stood before us, as imposing as ever, his voice thick with authority as he spoke the sacred words."May the Moon watch over you both, may your union strengthen the pack, and may your bond remain unshaken."I bowed my head. Because I had to. Because that was the way things were done. Tradition pressed down on me like a weight I couldn’t shake.Crystal was smiling. Beaming. Had been all damn night. Fingertips grazing my arm, a subtle, constant reminder—mine mine mine. As if she needed to tell them. As if I didn’t already know what this was.The pack watched, murmuring, pleased. Everything neat. Everything as expected. The Alpha’s stepdaughter bound to me. Ties tightened. Alliances secured.Done.Or at least, it should have been. But something—someone—was pulling at me.Ellie.She hadn’t said much. But when she had, her voice had shaken. Not in fear. Not in sadness.Rage.Thick and h
~Elena~"Welcome, my future Luna."The words barely had time to settle before Crystal stiffened like she’d been struck. The air froze. Then—"Excuse me?" she snapped, voice like a blade, sharp and cold.Trevor turned, unreadable, but Crystal was already seething."I am the future Luna," she spat, her fingers digging into Ryan’s arm like claws. "Not her."Her gaze burned into Trevor’s, daring him to challenge her. Daring him to argue."Elena is just my stepsister."My name hit the air like something rotten, like the word itself made her sick."And nothing more."The tension spiked, so thick it felt like it might crush me.I didn’t move.Didn’t breathe.Trevor’s eyes flickered between us, searching. Studying. Like he already knew something we didn’t.But he didn’t argue. Didn’t react. Just gave a slow, measured nod."Of course," he said smoothly. "My apologies, Luna."But something about the way he said it was... off.Like he’d meant it.Like calling me that wasn’t a mistake at all.Crys
Ryan POV The second the words left Trevor’s mouth, the whole damn room froze.Elena did too.Crystal? She snapped.“The fuck did you just say?”Her voice was a whipcrack, sharp, vicious, done with the forced politeness she’d barely been clinging to since Elena fucking showed up.Trevor blinked, confused, like he had no fucking clue what he’d just done. “I—”Didn’t matter.Crystal was already moving, shoving past everyone, storming toward Elena like she was ready to tear her apart with her bare hands.I should’ve stopped it. Should’ve stepped in, cut it off before it exploded. But I didn’t.Because I was too fucking busy looking at her.Elena.Standing there, stiff, eyes dark, mouth tight. Not smug. Not shocked. Just—still. She wasn’t feeding off it, wasn’t gloating, wasn’t waiting for the fire to burn. She just looked tired. And fuck, I felt it again. That pull. That ache. That deep fucking want lodged in my ribs.Mine.I gritted my teeth, shoving the thought down, deep, away. Not mi
Elena's POVThe sun cracked through the edge of the curtains, brightening the room. Warm, golden light spilled across the room. I lay there for a moment, staring at the ceiling. My heart beat a little quicker than usual.Today was different. Today meant something. For the first time in a while, I had something I really looked forward to. I threw off the sheets and sat up at once. I ran my fingers through my hair, then pressed them against my chest, right over my heart.Could I really do this? Could I really let out that wolf inside me after all these years? Aria believed I could, she was so confident, but I'm notShe said it was buried inside me, caged by pain I’d carried since I was a child. That the wolf wasn’t gone.. It just waiting.I got dressed quickly, barely containing my excitement. I had something to believe in, something that made me feel like maybe I belonged in this world of warriors, of wolves. I pulled my hair back into a loose ponytail, grabbed a flask of wate
Elena POVI gave myself a moment in front of Ryan's door and then pushed it open. “Elena?”My name on his lips stopped me before I could take another step. I inhaled sharply and then stepped inside. “Hey,” he said, standing up at once. “You alright?”“I… yeah.” I closed the door gently behind me. “I needed to talk to you.”He motioned for me to sit, and I did. “What is it?” he asked, his brows folded.I gave myself a moment, letting the silence stretch.“I saw Aria today just before you arrive and we talked.”He nodded, waiting for me to finish. “She said…” My hands curled at my sides. “She said I might not be wolfless after all.”His breath hitched. Just a little. The smallest flicker of shock on his face.“She says she can feel it in me. The scent of a wolf. A powerful one. That maybe… the reason I haven’t shifted isn’t because I’m empty. But because I’m blocked.” I looked up, my eyes meeting his. “That something… maybe what happened to my mother… has locked it inside me.”He
Ryan's POV The gates creaked open and the wind hit me first… cool, sharp, cutting through the blood and sweat caked on my skin. Home. The others were behind me, dragging their tired bodies and bruises along. The warriors ahead of us called out, opening the way, and I walked forward with slow, deliberate steps. My body was screaming, my knuckles still stung, and I could still taste the iron of the last fight on my tongue. But my mind was elsewhere.I was scanning through the pack.Looking for her. Then… I saw her.Elena.She stood near the steps, the wind catching strands of her hair, her lips parted, eyes wide, like she’d stopped breathing altogether. And fuck. The rest of the world just disappeared. She looked at me like she wasn’t sure if I was real. Like she’d waited for this moment, held onto it through every ache and tear and silent prayer. My chest clenched. I didn’t know if it was the injuries or her—but it hurt. In the best kind of way.Our eyes locked. That bond sparked, pu
Elena POVI woke up sharp. The sun was barely in the sky, but my eyes flung open like they'd been waiting all night. I didn't remember getting much sleep. And how could I? Ryan had gone on another raid call, and considering how the previous one went, I had cause to be worried. And just like that, my thoughts snapped to him. As it were throughout last night. I could only sit down here and hope he's alright. “Please be okay.”I whispered it into the pillow before sitting up. My hands shook a little as I reached for my robe. I didn’t bother brushing my hair. I didn't feel like it. I didn't feel like doing anything until I see Ryan. But maybe, taking a walk around, or talking to someone could clear my mind. I stepped out of my room, and then, the soft air of the morning hit me. The halls were quiet, servants just starting their day. I made my way down, to the long hallway that led to the kitchens and the dining hall. The smell of food hit me first. Fresh bread, something warm
Ryan's POVIt was him. The man who murdered my parents.Marvin was his name… according to Valari. The alpha of the Shadow Blood pack. All the memories of that day, all slammed into me like a punch to the chest.“You…,” I breathed.Marvin stepped front. “... Your, Alpha Ryan right? Not sure we've met.”Trevor stepped in front of me, steady, but I shoved past.“You'll know soon enough,” I growled. My claws extended, breath shaking. That wasn’t just an enemy. That was the monster who made me an orphan. And then…everything exploded. They moved first.A low snarl rumbled through the air like a warning. The fifty warriors lined up in front of him all charged in at once… their loud snarls thundering through the hall. It was hell breaking loose all at once. Just how I like it. Trevor shifted before they even got close.. his bones snapping mid-run, his wolf form slamming into the nearest one like a freight train. He sank his teeth into the guy’s throat and dragged him down, blood spurt
Ryan's POV She caught me just before I reached the door. And then, I felt it. The heat of her lips crashing into mine like it was the last thing she’d ever do.I didn’t have time to think.. just feel.I kissed her back, just as desperate. And then she whispered, “Come back. Okay?”I paused for a moment. I couldn’t give her an answer with certainty. But I had to say what she needs to hear. For her own good. “I will.”Then I turned and left. The air outside was colder than before, sharp with midnight tension. My boots echoed against stone as I approached the courtyard, and the moment they saw me, the eight chosen warriors sharpened, straightening their backs. Trevor stepped beside me. “We’re all here.”“Good,” I said, voice low and tight. “No mistakes. We do this clean.”And they all nodded. I scanned their faces. Trevor chose these seven men. His most trusted and skilled men to carry out this secret raid. “Same plan,” I said. “Flank tight, silent approach. If they’re waitin
Elena POV Aria stretched and let out a yawn, blinking slow like sleep was already dragging her under. “I think I’ll turn in for the night,” she said, standing to her feet.“Oh… of course,” I said quickly, rising too.She smiled at me again, that same warm, sisterly look that I hadn’t expected but kind of needed. “It was really nice meeting you, Elena.”“You too,” I said, genuinely. Walking with her more was nice. She's really friendly. She walked off with a lazy wave and I stood there a moment longer. As the door clicked shut behind her, my thoughts came up again. I couldn’t shake the image of Ryan. His face from earlier… it hadn’t left me. He was really troubled and worried about something. Maybe he wanted to talk to me about it, but saw I was with his sister, and didn't. He looked... tired. Like the weight of everything was pressing in on him.If he wanted to talk to me, then so should he. I stepped out of my room at once, stepping out into the hall, walking straight toward
Ryan's POVMyself, Trevor and a few trusted men have to set out to the location at midnight. I I had see Elena before I left. I was halfway down the corridor when I heard the low hum of voices through Elena’s door. I slowed, one hand tightening at my side. That voice—I knew it.I knocked once, out of habit, and pushed the door open. There she was—Elena, sitting stiffly on the edge of the bed, and across from her, legs crossed, cool as ever—Aria. My sister.“Thought I’d find you here,” I said, stepping in, eyes flicking between the two of them. Elena looked like she’d just been caught in a storm, wide-eyed, cheeks flushed. Aria? She just smirked at me like I was late for something.“I see you two have met,” I muttered, trying to smooth the tension clinging to the air.Elena stood a little too quickly, brushing invisible dust off her dress. “I didn’t know she was your sister,” she said, voice low, almost apologetic.“I figured as much.” I glanced at Aria, who gave me a look that said
Ryan POV "You talk," I said, voice low, "and maybe you'll get a fair trial."His jaw tightened."Or," I stepped closer, fingers curling around the cold iron bars, "you keep playing dumb, and I give you a slow and painful death."A heavy silence filled the room, thick and suffocating. His muscles tensed, his jaw locking… but I saw it.Something flicker in his eyes.He knew something.I smirked darkly."You don't want to test me, Valari."Valari stared up at me from the shadows of his cell. His lips pressed tight, eyes flicking between me and Trevor. He didn’t speak. For a long, heavy moment, just silence. Until.. “Fine.” He said sharply. The words felt bitter in his mouth. He looked away, jaw clenching hard. “It was me.”I stood there, heart pounding. So it was true indeed. The words hit even sharper hearing it from his mouth.Valari… my commander. My brother in arms. My friend. His words replayed over and over in my head. “It was me.”I stared at him, maybe waiting for the wh
