~Ryan~
“NO!! please!!” I heard feint screams in the background.
People pleading desperately for their lives, as I crouched behind the remains of our sacred building.
“Ryan hide!” I heard distant scream of mother.
I obeyed and lowered my head behind the building.
Soon after I heard father's loud roar, peeping through the remains, I saw him pounced on two of the rival packs werewolves.
And in the next minute, he tore off their faces, blood dripping down from his mouth.
“Arggh!!”
Dad yelled in pain, as two more werewolves jumped on his back, bringing him down to a knee.
But even the two of them weren't enough to take down an Alpha!
He gathered strength and returnex back to his two feet.
But in a flash two more werewolves took two deadly swipes at his knee, swiping him off his feet.
And then they swarmed him! Coming from all directions, wolves pounced on him, some take swipes with their sharp claws, some landing heavy punches to his abdomen.
“Dad!” the corner of my eyes began heating up, as I watched my father painfully leaving me.
His eyes locked onto mine, pride and love in his eyes.
And with a sweet smile, I watched him gently shut his eyes and welcomed death.
They turned to Mom, she stood just a few feet away from them.
But, she was ready for a fight. Her hands folded into a fist, her wolf hungry for blood. I could see the rage in her eyes.
She was going to make them pay for what they did to Dad.
They rushed towards her, but she didn't back down.
She flew into the air, and on landing used her razor sharp claws to tear into the flesh of two of the werewolves.
But they were too much even for her. She fought very defiantly, biting, scrapping, punching at them.
But soon the numbers caught up to her. A few took her by the legs and brought her down to the floor.
Her body make a disturbing thud noise on hitting the ground.
“Mom!”
Blood flowed rapidly as her body laid lifeless on the floor.
I couldn't hold back the tears anymore. I let them roll down my cheeks.
Twenty years since that day, but the pain, was still as fresh as the first day.
Seeing Mom and Dad die right in front of me, was a sight that left a scar on me.
I've spent the last fiveteen years trying to rebuild the Star Raiders pack and take it back to the pinnacle of the Werewolf kingdom.
And now, I can finally claim I've accomplished that.
But there was one more thing, i needed to fulfill to rest my conscious and the make good on the promise I made my parents at their funeral.
‘Find the location of the Shadow Blood pack, the pack that ruined everything and killed my parents, and tear everything they have into shreds.’
“Alpha Ryan!” a voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
“Yes,Trevor!”
“.. Well, I heard about you decision to travel to the White Snow pack.”
Trevor said.
Trevor, serves as my Beta and my most trusted allie and friend.
We were one of five survivors from the invasion twenty years ago.
He's helped me in every step to build back this pack.
“Is there a problem?” I raised a brow at his statement.
“Not really. It's just a bit sudden. Is there any reason in particular?”
Trevor asked.
“Well, if you must know, I'll soon be thirty and I don't have a mate.
And it looks like I might not have. So Alpha Zaphyr has decided to volunteer and hand pick me a wife who is sure to compliment me.”
I carefully explained to Trevor. His expression wasn't convincing, and I could feel another question coming.
“But can you trust Zaphyr or any lady he picks for you?”
Trevor had grown to be very protective and vigilant of my every move.
Sharing the same traumatic experience isn't easy for anyone.
We were all we have, so we have to look out for each other.
“Of course I can't. I don't just trust anyone. I've sent out a few of my men to fetch me a report of the pack and every lady who isn't mated.
You'll get the report once they arrive, so put your mind to rest.”
Trevor heaved a sigh of relief.
“Sir, I'm also here with quite an important news!”
Trevor's tone changed a bit.
“Yes? What is it?” I asked walking closer to him.
“Our men were all able to identify a Shadow Blood pack member.”
“What?” my eyes flung wide open is shock. For a second I couldn't believe my ears.
“Yes sir. We have him tied up in the dungeon room.”
Trevor continued.
“Take me to him, NOW!!” I ordered barely containing my excitement.
For years, I've been looking for even just a member of the Shadow Blood pack. And then force the location from him before putting him to rest.
I followed Trevor to the dungeon room. Sitting in the middle, his head lowered, tied up to a chair, my key to my revenge.
I walked up to him, and on seeing my arrival, a shady smirk appeared on his face.
“What's your name?” I asked him, he immediately scoffed me.
“That's why you tied me up here to ask my name?”
He mocked me, but he was very lucky I was a hothead.
“It's important to know your name, so when you die we'll know what to write on your grave, huh?”
I shot back at him.
“Listen, let's not make this hard on any of us. Corporate with me an maybe you'll live, if you don't then I'll give you a slow and painful death!”
I watched him shiver in fear, the smirk was wiped off his face.
“You can't kill me. You need me!”
“Need you?”
I immediately shifted into a wolf. My body doubling in size.
And with my shape claws, I pierced Depp into his skin.
“Argg!!!” he let out a loud scream in pain.
“Where is your pack located boy?” I asked, my claws still firmly sunk into his skin.
“....The Northern District, I swear!!” he yelled out, the pain too unbearable.
“Thank you!” I pulled out my claws. “
Leave him here, he might yet be useful.
Gather the soldiers, after our visit to the White snow pack, we're headed to the Northern District!”
~Elena~When I finally got to my room, I rummaged through my closet looking for a suitable and decent dress I could wear, but none was fine enough. “Wait!”Suddenly, I remembered my mom sew me a gown for my coming of age ceremony.its ceremony held once we were reach fifteen years. It was a white gown. I refused to wear it though. A dress like that would have made me the center of attention, something I don't like. I put on the white dress my mom made for me for the first time, and I couldnt help but gasp at how fitting the dress was on my body. I admired myself in a mirror for a few more minutes, something I wasn't really accustomed to doing. But today I had to look perfect, I just had a tinge that my fated mate will be from the Star Raiders pack and will carry me back to his pack so we can live our life. Just as I was admiring myself in the mirror, Crystal barged into my room. Does she not knock? My heart twitched in rage seeing her standing across me.She was really dresse
Ellie's POV I opened my eyes wide at what was in front of me, my supposed mate was holding Crystal lovingly, and worse, they were set to marry. How could this happen? This was suppose to be my mate, my union and my marriage. I shifted backwards, my heart beating so fast as it were going to chatter any moment.Horror, sadness, pain, regret and heartache overshadowed me at that moment. I didn't know what to feel at that moment. Should I be angry at father for setting Crystal up with my mate? At Crystal for marrying him? But then again, she didn't know. But still, the pain of seeing her with my mate was to much for me. If I stayed any longer i might cause a scene. I didnt want that. At that very moment, I took to my heels and ran out of the party. I ran as fast as my legs could take me, into the woods.Tears dropped to my face likerain battering me. I screamed at the top of her voice, letting out my frustration. I yelled in pain, suddenly the weather changed, and a heavy sto
~Ryan~I stood there, stiff, jaw so tight I thought I might snap a damn tooth. The Crystal or whatever, I didn’t even know—was all over me, practically draping herself across my side, showing off the mark she’d just put on my neck like it was some trophy. Her voice was this low, smug purr, but it barely registered.Because I felt nothing. No pull. No warmth. No bond. Just... nothing. And I was trying to act normal, trying to keep my face blank, but inside, everything felt wrong. And then— Like a bolt of lightning straight under my skin—zap—it hit me.My head snapped up so fast it made me a little dizzy, eyes scanning, heart picking up, wolf stirring like he’d just been shocked awake.Mate.The word pounded through me, a single beat that rattled in my chest. My wolf surged forward, claws scraping inside me, eyes narrowing, searching—desperate. And then I saw her. Ellie. Her eyes met mine from across the crowd, and the second it happened, it was like the ground tilted. Like the air g
I ran.Fast. Hard. Too hard. My breath was all wrong—sharp, shallow, barely even getting in—but I didn’t care.I couldn’t care.My nails dug into my palms, deep enough that I knew there’d be marks, maybe even blood, but it didn’t matter. None of it mattered.Ryan’s words still burned. Careless.Like I was some reckless idiot. Like I hadn’t been fighting. Like I hadn’t almost died. And my father—my own father—had told him that. Had handed him the words like a weapon, let him throw them at me like they meant nothing.Like I meant nothing.I could barely see straight as I tore through the trees, my pulse pounding so hard it felt like my skull might crack open. I was marching to father's room. I had to see him. He needed to explain this. I always thought he hated me, but this was too much. I had to find him. Had to make him understand. And then—I stopped.Just like that. Everything inside me screeched to a halt so fast I felt like I might collapse.Ryan.Kneeling.Beside Crystal. My f
I couldn’t stop shaking.I tried. God, I tried.Curled in on myself, pressed my face into the pillow so hard I couldn’t breathe, dug my fingers into the sheets like I could hold myself together. But it didn’t matter. The sobs still came. Loud. Broken. Ugly. My chest felt like it was caving in, my throat was raw, my whole body locked up like it wasn’t even mine anymore.I should’ve left.I should’ve fucking left.I should’ve walked away before this moment could brand itself into my skin, before it could claw its way into my bones. Before it could rot inside me like something sick and twisted and permanent. But I didn’t.And now?Now I was here.Falling apart over something I could never, ever change.God, I was so stupid. So fucking stupid. If Mom were still here, she wouldn’t have let this happen. She wouldn’t have let him do this to me.She would’ve fought for me. She would’ve looked my father in the eye and dared him to say that my mate—**my mate—**belonged to someone else. But she
~Ryan~The blessing was bullshit. A show. A well-rehearsed, well-polished formality. Nothing more.Zaphyr stood before us, as imposing as ever, his voice thick with authority as he spoke the sacred words."May the Moon watch over you both, may your union strengthen the pack, and may your bond remain unshaken."I bowed my head. Because I had to. Because that was the way things were done. Tradition pressed down on me like a weight I couldn’t shake.Crystal was smiling. Beaming. Had been all damn night. Fingertips grazing my arm, a subtle, constant reminder—mine mine mine. As if she needed to tell them. As if I didn’t already know what this was.The pack watched, murmuring, pleased. Everything neat. Everything as expected. The Alpha’s stepdaughter bound to me. Ties tightened. Alliances secured.Done.Or at least, it should have been. But something—someone—was pulling at me.Ellie.She hadn’t said much. But when she had, her voice had shaken. Not in fear. Not in sadness.Rage.Thick and h
~Elena~"Welcome, my future Luna."The words barely had time to settle before Crystal stiffened like she’d been struck. The air froze. Then—"Excuse me?" she snapped, voice like a blade, sharp and cold.Trevor turned, unreadable, but Crystal was already seething."I am the future Luna," she spat, her fingers digging into Ryan’s arm like claws. "Not her."Her gaze burned into Trevor’s, daring him to challenge her. Daring him to argue."Elena is just my stepsister."My name hit the air like something rotten, like the word itself made her sick."And nothing more."The tension spiked, so thick it felt like it might crush me.I didn’t move.Didn’t breathe.Trevor’s eyes flickered between us, searching. Studying. Like he already knew something we didn’t.But he didn’t argue. Didn’t react. Just gave a slow, measured nod."Of course," he said smoothly. "My apologies, Luna."But something about the way he said it was... off.Like he’d meant it.Like calling me that wasn’t a mistake at all.Crys
Ryan POV The second the words left Trevor’s mouth, the whole damn room froze.Elena did too.Crystal? She snapped.“The fuck did you just say?”Her voice was a whipcrack, sharp, vicious, done with the forced politeness she’d barely been clinging to since Elena fucking showed up.Trevor blinked, confused, like he had no fucking clue what he’d just done. “I—”Didn’t matter.Crystal was already moving, shoving past everyone, storming toward Elena like she was ready to tear her apart with her bare hands.I should’ve stopped it. Should’ve stepped in, cut it off before it exploded. But I didn’t.Because I was too fucking busy looking at her.Elena.Standing there, stiff, eyes dark, mouth tight. Not smug. Not shocked. Just—still. She wasn’t feeding off it, wasn’t gloating, wasn’t waiting for the fire to burn. She just looked tired. And fuck, I felt it again. That pull. That ache. That deep fucking want lodged in my ribs.Mine.I gritted my teeth, shoving the thought down, deep, away. Not mi
Ryan POV Valari was on the move. I marched outside at once, leaving Crystal to herself. I couldn't let this chance pass me by, if Valari was the mole I needed to know. I marched up the stairs, my boots landing hard against the marble surface. And then, I reached the top. The cold, fresh air hit me, like a knife to the gut. I was at the top of the castle, with the largest view covering the whole borders of the Star Raiders pack and beyond.“Welcome Alpha!”Trevor welcomed me, already there. “Here!” Trevor handed me a device. ‘Wolf Eyes’A device that can see objects even thousands of miles away. I grabbed and wore it across my face. There he was! Valari, riding his horse, far beyond the packs boundaries. The Wolf Eyes could cover even only so far, but now we had a reason to be bring him in for questioning. I pulled it off, turned ready to leave. “Bring him in for questioning tommorow!” I said to Trevor, my voice heavy. “I'm not sure about tommorow.” Trevor's words made me
Elena’s POVRyan turned to me, and I knew what was coming next. He was going to walk out on me and leave me in the dark, like I wasn't fit for discrete information. “Wait here!” he said, hisvoice firm. “But I want to know.” I shot back. And for a second, I saw something flicker in his eyes.Realization. He knew I wanted to. “You'll know.” That was it. And then he walked away with Trevor.I lay there. Still. Empty.Staring at the ceiling like it could give me the answers. It didn’t.Because all I could think about was him.Ryan.His voice. The way it cracked. The way he looked at me last night, like he wanted to say more, like it mattered. But it didn’t.Because at the end of all this—He wasn’t mine.He never was.Never would be.He was going to marry her.Crystal.It was already written, already decided, already killing me.I squeezed my eyes shut, hating myself.Hating that I let myself think, for one second, that maybe—just maybe—this meant something. That maybe I meant somet
Ryan POV “Sir, we need to talk.” Trevor said, his breath shaking, his tone urgent. ‘Can't it wait?” ‘“Unfortunately, no sir..” He responded sharply. Then, he lowered his voice. “I have almost certain confirmation on who the mole is.”What? My breath hitched. I turned to Elena, the curiosity in her eyes. She wanted to know just as much. “Wait here!” I said, my voice firm. “But I want to know.” she answered. I knew she did. But this information has to remain discrete. “You'll know.” I said before walking out. I followed Trevor to the chamber room, locking the metallic doors. This was the most discrete room in the castle. “Alright. Who is it?”Trevor leaned in close to my ear, lowering his voice.“I think it's Valari.”I froze. Valari? My number one warrior for years. The man who I fought countless battles with. The only besides Trevor who I could trust. “No, no, no! It can't be.” “Are you sure of this?” I asked. I couldn't bring myself to believe it. “We are not 100%
Ryan POV I laid flat on my bed, eyes looking up at the ceiling, the thoughts circling in my head. My wedding to Crystal was less than three days away. But at the moment I couldn't even care less about that.I needed to speak with Elena. For some reason she's been difficult to find. Maybe she could be avoiding me? But she has to understand that I had choice. Crystal practically blackmailed me. But even more importantly I needed to find the mole in my pack. I needed to… But, there was a mole, that much I was sure of.I did all pros and cons, and all analysis possible. No way the Shadow Blood pack could have planned for our arrival unless they had earlier information. So it had to among the warriors and higher ups. The other members of the castle only knew about the ambush that night, making it impossible to get a message to the Shadow Blood pack before we arrived. For me, the sooner I get the mole, the quicker I get closer to the Shadow Blood pack. And then… I will have anothe
Elena POVI walked back to my room, and collapsed on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. The image was the fresh in my mind. Ryan lying next to her.Crystal.I had seen them—his body half-turned toward her, her form curled near his, the sheets tangled between them My stomach had twisted, sharp and ugly, but I had turned away before I could feel it break me. Before I could do something stupid.Because that’s what I had done, hadn’t I?Let myself believe, for just a second, that maybe—**just maybe—**there was something for me there.Fool.Crystal was his Luna to be, how could I forget thatI got my mind clouded up with the ambush and Ryan's past trauma, for a second i thought maybe, our mate bond was getting stronger. Just then, I heard Crystal's voice. “Oh? You’re up early.”Her voice.I stopped, then snapped my head to the direction of the door. And there she was.Crystal.Standing just outside my room, wrapped in a silk robe, her blonde hair perfect, shining, lips curled into som
Ryan POV I left Elena's room, my heart a bit heavy. I didn't have to burden her with that news. But I did. Because for some reason, Elena felt like the only one I could really trust. I moved gently through the hallway. Every step burned, my back and arm screaming, pulling, tearing, but I had to bear it. I had to return back to my room before the guards return from their shift. The last thing I want is for them to get worked up more over me. I reached my room, and with a small nudge, I carefully pushed the door open, the creaking noise disturbing the silence. “Hey handsome.” I heard a soft voice. I snapped my head to the direction. Crystal! My eyes cracked wide open as I turned to her. A thin dress clung to her frame, light, deliberate. Her golden hair cascaded over her shoulders, her eyes dark, gleaming with intent. She smiled. “You’re finally back.”“W..what are you doing here?” I asked, my breath shaking. “Can't a wife a come check on his husband?” She asked, her tone lust
Elena POV I laid on my bed staring up at the ceiling. I couldn't sleep, not until I see Ryan. I needed to know what really happened. Did he avenge his parents murder? And if so, at what cost?I may not have seen him in action yet. But the tales we were told when I was in my old pack. Alpha Ryan was the best and most skilled fighter in the Werewolf land. So for even a top level fighter to come back so battered and bruised up, was a bit worrying. Just then I heard a soft knock on my door. I hesitated, just staring at the door. Who would be at my door at this hour? And then the knock came again… this time a bit louder. I gently walked to the door and opened it. What? Ryan! “What.. Why… How?” He stood, bandaged and patched up. “What are you doing here?” I finally managed to speak. “Can i come in?” he requested.“Yes.. Sure.” I stepped in and pulled a seat over to him, movement a bit hasty. “I don't have much time before the guards know I left.”He lowered his voice.“Okay… so
Elena POVI stayed in my room for the most part of that night. My mind was in dissary. But still on one person. My mate. Ryan. I paced around my room for almost an hour straight. And then I'll take a occasional peak out my window to check if they were back. I couldn't help but worry. My body for some reason felt uneasy even though it shouldn't. It's just an ambush. It should be easy. And besides, they've gone on several battles before today and always come out on top. Tonight wasn't suppose to be different. If anything, it was suppose to be more easy than usual. But for some reason… it was still feeling uneasy. Maybe a warm tea ought to free me up. I walk to the door, slipping to my shoes before walking out. “Do you know who I am, huh?” “I'm the Luna oof this pack and you dare…”“I can easily make your live here a living nightmare.”“Ma’am please I'm sorry.”. “Please I am.”I was reaching the kitchen when I heard Crystal's stern voice. “Crystal never changes.” I sighed. Sho
Ryan POVNot a single damn soul.I exhaled hard, grip tightening on my blades. Something wasn’t right. And then—it hit me.That scent.Faint, but there. Werewolves, they were close by.The hair on the back of my neck stood up. My gut twisted. My wolf snarled.A trap.“Scatter!” I barked, turning sharply. “Now!”“It's a trap!”The first arrow came like a whisper. Then the night exploded.A sickening thwack—then gurgling. A warrior jerked beside me, his eyes wide, blood bubbling at his lips. He collapsed hard, hands twitching in the dirt, then still.More arrows. They were coming in fast and from everywhere. The air screamed with them. Hissing past my face, slamming into bodies, tearing through flesh, armor, bone.Callum staggered. Chest shot through. His mouth opened like he wanted to speak, but then—gone. Just gone.“MOVE! COVER! NOW!” I snarled, twisting, already sprinting through the chaos.Another arrow—too fast—THWACK.FUCK.Pain ripped through my back, deep, burning, raw. My vi
