Eva woke to her alarm going off, she groaned as she pulled the duvet right up over her head and realised today was the day she started at her brand new school.

Only one year! That's all it was going to be then she could go home where she longed to be more than anything.

Eva had enjoyed their evening out last night, although Tina had not exactly made her feel welcomed, the twins certainly made up for their mother's hostility.

Quickly getting up and throwing her feet over the edge of the bed she felt for her favourite fluffy slippers and shrieked when a hand grabbed her ankle and she heard two muffled giggles from underneath the bed.

Eva rolled her eyes and grinned with amusement at her twin siblings trying to prank her like that. It was nice to have a little brother and sister around.

“Oh I spy two little monsters that need a good tickle.” she teased as they both shrieked with laughter and jumped on her messy bed.

Millie was thrilled to have a big sister to look up to while Eddie was delighted to have someone else to spoil him.

“Come on kiddies before the big bad wolf catches you,” Eva whispered to them referring to their mother who would probably have Evas guts for garters if she found the twins not getting ready for school.

They did as they were told and Eva smiled to herself as she closed her bedroom door. Catching a glimpse of herself in the mirror she scowled and jumped in the shower.

Once she was showered and dried, she got dressed in the clothes that she had already prepared the night before. A cute pair of denim shirts and a white blouse. Then, choosing to wear her hair up in a high ponytail, she applied a little mascara and black eyeliner. Not too much to be classed as an over-the-top though.

Standing back and admiring herself she nodded in approval before grabbing her bag and picking up her mobile from the bedside unit. She checked and when she saw that there were no messages or missed calls from her friends back home she let out a sigh and slid the phone into her bag. She had thought that they would have at least asked how she was or wished her good luck for her first day at her new school. It was like she had never existed in their lives.

Eva wished her mother could be here then she would not have had to leave everything she knew and loved so much.

She walked down the stairs and licked her lips hungrily as the smell of delicious pancakes reached her nose. She couldn't wait to get that in her and her tummy rumbled in agreement.

“Good morning.” she grinned happily as she entered the kitchen where the twins were already seated. Tina sat opposite sipping at her mug of coffee and didn't even acknowledge Eva. Her father had already left for work so it was only the four of them and the cleaner who had just arrived to complete her daily cleaning job.

Tina nodded at the cleaning lady who waved at them all as she passed through to the next room.

Tina picked up the keys to her car and jingled them.

“Any pancakes left for me?” Eva eyed the cooker hungrily and was disappointed when she saw they were all gone.

“Sorry, didn't realize that you were still here,” Tina said, but Eva could see that she was lying. She hadn't been bothered to prepare anything for Eva, since it was obvious that she did not like having her under the same roof.

“It's ok, you can have mine.” Eddie held out his half-eaten pancake to his older sister. She smiled at his generosity and squeezed his cheek. He was so adorable and loving.

“No, you eat your breakfast. I'm sure Eva is capable to fix her breakfast. Now hurry up before we are late.” Tina glared at Eva.

“It's ok thanks anyway kiddo. I wasn't that hungry anyway.” Eva smiled down at Eddie and grabbed herself an apple from the fruit bowl.

“Ok.” he shrugged his shoulders and went back to eating. Millie had already finished by now and for down to wash her hands and face.

“Come on.” Tina huffed impatiently and looked at her watch.

“Ok, come on guys. Let's go.” Eva helped them grab their bags and opened the front door. Tina frowned but didn't say a word.

The twins quickly jumped into their seats and buckled themselves in. Eva checked that they were in before sliding into the front passenger seat. Tina ignored her stepdaughter and started the car.

The gates opened up and before long they arrived at the twin's school. They said their goodbyes and ran off to their classrooms leaving Eva alone with their mother.

“Thanks for the lift.” Eva glanced across at Tina who only nodded in response. She drummed her fingers on the steering wheel and waited for Eva to vacate the car.

Once she was sure she had gone out of sight, she dialled her friend, Sandy’s number. After just a couple of rings, she picked up.

“This girl is too nice, it's sickening,” Tina complained as her friend answered.

“Give it time, she will not want to stick around for long,” Sandy assured her. Tina hoped that she was right.

“The twins adore her. She's going to make them forget me isn't she?” Tina whined, she sounded like an immature person but her friend didn't want to upset her.

“No, of course not, you are their mother but don't forget she has just lost her mother. I can't imagine she is out to destroy your bond with the twins.” Sandy told her.

“Let's talk later. I need to get to work.” Tina sighed heavily before hanging up.

She looked up and saw that Eva had entered the building. She checked her mirrors before leaving the parking spot and got back onto the road. Her workplace was only a few minutes down the road and she decided to stop off for a coffee on the way.

Eva stepped up the pathway and took in the new surroundings that would now be her new school, during the last year of her school journey. She took a deep breath and gripped her bag tightly to her chest. “Name?” Eva stopped and looked at the tall figure blocking the doorway. He was huge, over six feet and had a clipboard in his hands. “Eva Smith,” she stated and the man glanced at her for a second before turning back to his clipboard. He grunted when he found her name and allowed her to enter. “This is your class schedule. She will show you where you need to be.” He handed Eva the information that she needed and pointed to a girl opposite. The girl was wearing a name tag which read Nessie. Eva noticed that she was a pretty girl with glasses and probably a bit of a nerd. She was dressed in a smart white shirt with a black tie that matched her black skirt and tights. Her shoes looked hideous to Eva but she didn't say a word about that. “Hi Eva. Welcome to our school. I will show

Tina was fuming when she found out that Eva had been sent home early for fighting. She hated the fact that this would be a bad influence on her twins. They had always been so well behaved and Tina could see how happy that they were to finally have their big sister with them. “Do you think this is funny?” She shouted at Tim and glanced at the clock to notice it was almost time to pick up the twins. Tim shrugged his shoulder and stirred his coffee like it was no big deal at all. Eva did not like the way that her stepmother had a huge problem with her being in their home. She wanted to make an effort. “I will come along with you to pick up the twins?” Eva suggested but the look of horror on Tina’s face made her stifle a laughter. Tim was certain that she needed to just lighten up a little, she was far to Snobby sometimes. “No. I can manage.” She grumbled before stomping off to the car. She did not even say bye but Tim was not fussed about her right now. He would have words with his

Wiping her wet cheeks with the palm of her hands, Eva picked up her phone from the bedside unit and frowned at the unknown caller id. She decided to ignore it but a few seconds later, it came up again. Whoever was ringing certainly did not give up so easily. Feeling slightly irritated, Eva picked up the phone and said hello. Nothing. “Who is this?” she sighed, not in the mood to be messed about. “Eva?” She froze at the sound of the familiar female voice on the other end of the phone.Lara. Eva was astonished by her father's firm and demanding tone of voice. “You need to tell that girl the truth. Her mother was nothing special anyway.” Tina glared at Eva with so much hatred in her eyes that Eva was speechless. Tim watched as his wife walked away slamming the door behind her. Who did she be that she was? Tim was beginning to really regret ever getting with this crazy woman. She had always been jealous of Eva's Mother. Turning back towards his daughter he noted how worried she had become. “It's ok, Eva. She won't hurt you. She's just upset.” Tim said trying his best to reassure her. He knew that Tina would have told Eva the truth if he had not stopped her right there and then. He realised that he could not keep it a secret any longer. He needed to tell his daughter the truth. She smirked, reapplying her lipstick and feeling satisfied that the girl had gone. She hoped that Eva would not come back anytime soon, or at all if she were that lucky. “Maybe you will remember you have a family now. That bitch was never worthy of you anyway.” Tina spat. Tim could not believe what he was hearing. She was so spiteful. How did he ever agree to marry her! “Daddy, is our sister ok?” Millie tugged at her fathers sleeve and looked up at him with wide eyes. Tim softened at the sight of her. He bent down to pick Millie up. Tina ignored them and walked to the garden with a glass of wine. She disgusted Tim. She was not who he had thought her to be. After a few minutes of walking, Granny Agnes stopped in front of a large stone door. The door was adorned with intricate carvings and symbols similar to those on the tombs they had seen earlier."This is the entrance to the Lady's lair," Granny Agnes said, her voice low and serious. They stumbled over roots and rocks, their hearts pounding with fear. Suddenly, Ava stopped dead in her tracks. "Wait," she whispered. "Do you see that?" Eddie and Millie followed her gaze, and their eyes widened in horror. Ahead of them lay a vast, dark chamber with rows of ancient tombs. The air was thick with the scent of decay and death, and the humming noise seemed to come from within the tombs themselves. "What is this place?" Millie whispered, her voice trembling with fear. Ava's eyes locked onto hers. "This is the Lady's tomb," she said. "And we have to get out of here before she awakens." Eddie and Millie exchanged a desperate glance. They knew they had to get out of

Our mother is dead."The Lady's expression turned cold, her eyes flashing with anger. "You don't know what you're talking about," she spat. "You don't know who I am or what I am capable of."Millie stepped forward, her eyes flashing with defiance. "We don't care who you are or what you're capable of," she said. "We're not going anywhere with you."The Lady's smile grew wider, her eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, but you will," she said. "You will do as I say because I can make you."As she spoke, the air around them grew darker and more menacing. The trees seemed to loom closer, their branches reaching like skeletal fingers. "We're going to the safe house," Jason replied, breathing heavily as he dodged low-hanging branches and leapt over roots. "We must get out of the woods before the pack tracks us down."The twins kept pace with Jason, their eyes scanning the surrounding trees for any signs of pursuit. As they ran, they could hear the distant sounds of battle growing fainter, replaced by the rustling of leaves and snapping of twigs. After a few minutes of running, the trees began to thin out, and they saw a small clearing in the distance. In the centre of the clearing stood a small cottage surrounded by a thick hedge of thorny bushes.Jason led them to the cottage, where they burst through the door and found themselves in a cosy, dimly lit

“Please. Give me a chance. I do not deserve it, but I want to correct my wrongs.” Seraphina continued to plead, and Alpha Duane scowled. He had had enough of her already. “Fine, prove yourself. One foot wrong, and you are to meet your end.” Alpha Duane insisted as he gestured for everyone to follow him. “Let's go.” Seraphina felt a rush of relief as the pack began to come together to form a plan to take down the Shadowscale and protect Alpha Duane and the children. Despite the betrayal and distrust that had clouded their relationships, they all knew that they needed to unite to overcome this dangerous threat. As they gathered in a circle, the weight of their mission hung heavy in the air. Seraphina spoke up. "We need to act quickly and decisively to outsmart the Shadowscale. They are powerful, but together we are stronger. We must devise a plan to protect Alpha Duane and this pack and the children at all costs." Jason nodded in agreement, his eyes reflecting his determina

As Seraphina sat in her cell, her expression hardened with anger and frustration. She knew that her time was running out, and she needed to find a way to explain her actions to the pack, especially to Jason. Of course, they would all be against her for getting their Alpha hurt. She thought that maybe if she could get him on her side and explain it so that he could stand by her side and protect her from the wrath, she would have no choice but to face it. Jason stood guard outside her cell, his features set in anger and sadness at the betrayal she had committed. Feeling a sense of desperation, Seraphina called out to Jason, her voice carrying a hint of vulnerability that was rarely seen from her. "Jason, there's something you need to know,” she said. “What is it, Seraphina? I don't have time for games,” Jason sighed, his voice tinged with impatience as he tried to mask the concern that flickered in his eyes. Almost an hour had passed since Alpha Duane had left with Seraphina. Eva had settled the baby down and felt more at ease now Seraphina had gone. She didn't like the way she made her feel. As Eva made her way down the corridors and back out of the pack house, she bumped into someone she wasn't expecting to see. “Wait, what? Gabriel, how are you here? Eva turned to Sebastian, panic evident in her eyes. “It's Gabriel. She knew the dangers that lurked within the Pack Lands, the treachery of the Shadowscale clan, and the importance of not letting their guard down."Keep your distance from Seraphina," Eva warned, her voice firm. "I don't trust her, and neither should you.
