Chapter 1

Emily Pov

“Sign them.” Alexander walked in flipping a bunch of papers to my face as I dropped the hair dryer on the table.

I glanced through the papers and gasped at the content of the papers. “W_what is this?” I stammered, my hands covering my mouth in disbelief as I stared at his face in confusion.

“Just sign the papers.” He instructed, avoiding my gaze as I felt a lump in my throat.

We have only been married for two years and he's asking for divorce?

I stared at him in confusion. “Alexander Bennett, what is this?” I asked angrily, if this were to be a joke then he should stop it. I'm no longer finding it funny.

“Do I look like a joke to you? Emily, I want a divorce and I mean it. Sign them.” He said and was about to leave the room when I stopped him.

“What is going on, Alex? You don't mean this, do you?” I paused, fixing my gaze on him.

“How can you flip divorce papers at me as though it's some sort of contract letter?

This can't be true, Alex.” I yelled, holding tightly to his collar. He flung my hands as I stumbled backward, losing my balance.

“That is something you can never stop doing. Gripping my clothes as if I were a child. Emily, my heart doesn't belong here. It doesn't belong to you. Sign the divorce papers, please.” He said coldly.

“That’s something I can never stop doing? Alex, have I ever held onto your collar like this?” I asked, my voice barely audible. My heart beat rapidly as I swallowed the lumps in my throat.

As I gazed at the papers again, my hand trembled with fear. I stepped backward, tears threatening to drip down my face.

“Care to explain what this divorce is about? Do you have any problem with me?” I asked, staring deeply into his eyes.

“You told me you love me and that I lit up your life. I'm supposed to be your hope giver, I'm supposed to mend the holes in your heart.” I said with an aching heart, tears falling down my cheeks slowly.

He stared at me in disdain, as though my words meant nothing to him.

“Don't make a fuss out of this, Emily. Yes, I said you lit up my life but that was what you made me believe. You just appeared in my life and changed everything.”

“Just forget I said those words.” He denied.

Staring into his blue eyes, all I could see was his disgust and sudden hatred towards me.

“Wow, I'm making a fuss now. This is unlike you, Alex. How could you vomit such venom to my face?” I retorted, staring at him in disbelief.

“That's what I'm saying. Do you think the world revolves around you? I'm saying this right now and this instant. Sign the divorce papers, now!” He insisted.

I gasped, tears rolling down my cheeks, my hand pressing to my chest. I could not believe this was happening to me. How could Alex treat me so cruelly?

“Alex, if this is a….”

“I don't have time for your tales Emily,” he declared, interrupting my speech.

“This isn't a joke. I’m serious Emily. Just do me a favor and sign the damn papers! Don't make things hard for both of us.”

I felt my world crashing down into pieces.

I stumbled to the floor, my hand trembling in pain.

Memories of how we met at the Charity flooded my mind. Our beautiful moments together, the day we had our first kiss, and our wedding night. It just sends shivers into my soul. I held tightly to my chest, sobbing loudly as he got out of the room without glancing at me.

The rush of memories from our fortunate encounter at the charity overwhelmed me with a gush of emotions.

From the tender first kiss that ignited our love to the magical night of our union, each moment danced like poetry in my heart.

As tears of cherished remembrance fell softly, I clung to the echoes of our past, where love painted our story with vibrant hues of togetherness. Even as he departed from the room without looking back, his presence still lingered in my memory, resonating through my soul. I sobbed like a child as I watched him leave.

I wondered what came over him, his change was so sudden. Alex that I knew would never look away when I'm in pain.

The fact that he stood by me when my family tried to make us drift apart still left

me in awe.

“What has changed?” I kept on reasoning.

His first profession of love for me was a sweet thing that would never elude my mind.

As his lips synced with his stare connected to mine, he curled his lips gently for a smile. Observing him smile alone gave me butterflies in my belly. It was never difficult to say yes to him, not when his sweet words had spoken to my soul and captured my heart.

Even before he spoke up, I envisioned his arms wrapped around me, his lips dancing around mine and his soft touch caressing my silky skin, taking me to the world beyond.

He introduced me to his loved ones, and we had a perfect wedding celebration. His love for me was visible in his eyes.

I couldn't stop thinking about the day he approached me at the Charity.

“You look stunning” He had said to me that night, his eyes sensually roving around my features.

I gazed at my worn pink dress and chuckled in astonishment.

"Please, there's no need for flattery. Complimenting this old thing is almost an insult." I tried to brush off his compliments, but he persisted.

"When I say 'stunning,' I'm not talking about your dress. I'm talking about you. Your spirit. Something is captivating about you that makes me want to learn more."

His words were so persistent that I couldn't help but give in to them. Our conversation lasted for a long time and I eventually ended up sharing my contact information with him.

Our first date was like a dream he was a true gentleman. At that moment, I felt it deep inside: he was the one meant for me. My heart knew he was the perfect man, my knight in shining armor. His kindness and charm swept me off my feet, painting a picture of love that felt like pure magic.

I cherished that night, when our souls connected, whispering promises of a beautiful future together. Every second with him felt like a fairytale, a tale of two souls destined to be one.

“Baby.” A tiny voice spoke behind the door as it was unlatched, jolting me out of my thoughts. I struggled to stand on my feeble knees as it piloted me towards the door.

Entering the main room, I encountered a woman with vibrant pink hair, matching glasses, and tinted pink lips. Her fondness for pink was evident in her choice of clothing as well – donning pink maxi shorts and a pink tank top.

My eyes then shifted to the suitcase she held, also colored in various shades of pink. The consistency in her color preferences, from her hair to her clothing and belongings, painted a vivid picture of her affinity for all things pink.

“Why is she still here, babe? You promised to kick her out before my arrival.” The lady’s voice echoed, referring to me.

I watched as my husband’s hands wrapped around her waist, fondling her softly at my watch. I stood there, baffled by the scene I just beheld.

As I faced Alexander, confusion gripped me, demanding an explanation for the chaos unfolding. "Who's this?" I asked, studying the mysterious woman.

"You have no right to question me," he retorted coldly. "Sign the divorce papers and leave." His callousness cut deep, each word a dagger.

Tears streamed down my face at the sight of their intimacy, and my heart broke. "Is she the reason for our divorce? Is she better than me?" I implored, my voice trembling.

"She's a million times better," he declared, crushing my spirit. With shattered resolve, I stumbled back, as my breath came in ragged gasps. My strength waned as I crumbled on the floor.

My body remained unmoved, my mind shut down, unable to dictate what was happening around me. At that point, I felt life leaving me.
