The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows over the cracked asphalt as cars and trucks rumbled along the desolate highway, their engines protesting with every mile. In the back of trucks, huddled together among supplies and weapons, the other survivors kept silent, their eyes reflecting a mixture of exhaustion and fear.They had been on the road for five days straight, pushing through fatigue and the relentless assault of the zombie.
