Monday morning is strange. Some people are overly happy, giddy almost. While others are angry. I wonder what happened? Maybe I should ask someone what’s going on.
“Hi.” Chiara links her arm through mine giving me heart failure. “Sorry.” She says sheepishly but doesn’t remove her arm as I clutch my chest.“It’s okay.” I say as we walk through the corridors. She starts chatting too chipper for a Monday morning. “Listen Chiara, if we’re going to be friends, I don’t do mornings well. Especially not Monday mornings. It’s too early for happy.”“Okay.” She drops the smile. “I can do dreary.” She leans her head on my shoulder.“Thank you.” I sigh and Chiara drags me to class.__________________“Hey.” I sit with Chiara at lunch.“Hey Faye.” Jared smiles at me.“Why do you always sit inside? We’re inside the whole day. Why not go sit outside on the beautiful lawns?” I ask.“I think that’s an excellent idea.” Jared says with a mega watt smile and a wink. He picks up his tray and begins to walk outside.“Of course you would.” Addilyn says under her breath but does the same.I walk next to Jared on the stroll out onto the rolling lawns behind the school. There are less people out here but everyone is laughing and enjoying their time.“Where’s Danika?” I ask Jared softly. “She wasn’t in Maths.”“She’s home sick today. Aidan gave her something so the two of them stayed home.” He says with a grin as we walk. He doesn’t look at me though.“Why not ask Chiara?” He says after a while. The rest of the group is walking behind us, laughing and joking, while we look for a quiet spot to sit. I’m, however, content walking here with Jared. “You’ve been with her the whole day, why not ask her instead of me?”“Because you’re closer to Danika.” I say. “And I rather enjoy talking to you.”I turn away from him and to the rest of the group before he can answer. “How about here?” I ask while sitting.Everyone sits in a circle around me. Jared sits right next to me so our knees touch. I don’t move away.He has a goofy smile on his face and keeps glancing at me the whole of lunch.“Faye,” Ben asks, “are you coming in the New York trip next week?”“I am actually.” I say as we all pack up our lunch.“It’s going to be fun.” Nick winks at Addylin before standing and walking away. Jared and Ben catch up to him and the lot of them start raging each other. Addylin follows quietly while Chiara links her arm through mine as we walk back to the main building.“Boys are stupid.” She whispers.“All of them or one in particular?” I ask back.“All of them. But mainly Dominic.”“Why, specifically, is he stupid?”“He doesn’t see me.”“Then he isn’t just stupid but an idiot as well.”___________________________By Wednesday Danika and Aidan are back at school all lovey dovey and cute. They are definitely my favourite couple. Everyone always seems so happy to see them, too. But there is still this thick tension in the air between certain groups of people and I can’t quite figure out why.Physics is dragging on. I only took it to compliment the chemistry but honestly, I hate it. I hate all of it. I don’t care about motion and forces. I care about chemicals reacting and the maths behind it.Things get a little less boring when my desk partner, Hadley, leans over and whispers, “Hey.”“Hi.” I whisper back.“You’re Addy’s new friend, right?”“I wouldn’t say friend. She doesn’t like me very much.”“Pity. You seem wonderful.” He smiles sweetly at me.“I wouldn’t say wonderful but thank you.”“I would. And you can play soccer like a professional.” He chuckles.“Years of practice just to show up some kids at school.” I giggle.“Which you did.”“I did.” I smile sadly to myself.“Are you busy tonight?” He asks. I look over at him for the first time. He’s handsome, no doubt about it. He’s tall, dark hair, light eyes, well built. He’s stunning, truly, but he’s quite my type. He’s too pretty.“It’s a school night.” I say.“So?”“So… I’m free.” What’s the harm in going on a date? Having fun? Living? My mothers currently not home so I can do whatever I want.“I’ll pick you up at 8.” He says.“Perfect.” I tear a piece of paper and write my number and address on it in sparkly pink pen.“I’ll see you later.” He says as the bell rings.“See you later.” I say back.___________________________“I have nothing to wear.” I shout down the phone as Chiara answers.“In general or…” her amused voice sounds down the phone.“I have a date. A date and nothing to wear.” I place the phone on speaker so I can place it on my desk and go back to digging in the cupboard.“A date? With who?” She sounds excited. I can hear the rustling of clothes and jingling of keys in the background. “I’m on my way. Tell me everything.”“Hadley Robertson asked me on a date in physics today.”“I’m on my way. I’ll see you in a few.” And just a like that she hangs up the phone leaving me to rummage through my clothing.__________________________Chiara arrives with a banging at my front door. I open it and the fist thing that comes out of her mouth is, “You can’t go on a date with Hadley!”“Why not?”“Because.”“Because isn’t a real answer.” I say in disbelief.“Fine. He’s my ex.” She pushes past me dramatically and heads to the kitchen.“You’re lying.” I follow her.“I’m not.”“You are.” I take down a glass and pour her some wine because I know that’s what she’ll want. Especially if she’s this worked up. “You crinkle your nose when you’re lying.”She throws her hand over her face. “Do not.”“Do too.”She takes the glass and chugs it in one gulp.“What’s the real reason?”“I can’t tell you.”“If it’s simply because you don’t like him that’s one thing.”“I don’t like him.” She cuts me off.“Then I’m going. It’s just a date. Something fun. Nothing serious and it probably won’t happen again. I’m not a girlfriend girl so there’s no need to worry about that. And if I’m being honest, I don’t usually go out with a person more than once.”“If you want a fun date, go out with Jared. Or Ben. Or Nick. Or I’m sure Danika would send you into the sunset with Aidan. Hell, we can even go on a date. Just not Hadley. Anyone but Hadley.”“You can’t volunteer people to go on a date. Not your friends and certainly not your friends boyfriend!”“I know for a fact that Jared would gladly go on a date with you.” She peers down her nose at me.“If Jared wanted to go on a date with me, he would have asked. But he hasn’t so he doesn’t.” I peer right back. “I’m going on the date. Are you going to help me get ready or not?”“Fine.” She mopes. As we stand to walk up the stairs my phone buzzes on the counter. I pick it up quickly before telling Chiara I’ll be a minute and heading into my study.“Freya Hanning speaking.” I answer down the phone.“Miss Hanning. I’m calling in regards to your mother. She’s ready for release.”“Thank you. I’m on my way.” I hang up the phone and slam my hand on the desk before heading upstairs.“Change of plan.” I say to Chiara. “I have to take care of something tonight.”“What?”“Something.”“Somethings not a real answer.”“Fine.” I sigh. “I have to go pick my mother up from hospital. Happy?” I give her a pointed look.“No! What happened?” She stands from the bed.“The usual. But she’s ready for discharge so I have to fetch her.”“I’ll come with.”“No. Chiara. No. She’s not a very pleasant person. I prefer my personal life to stay as far away from her as possible.” I grab Chiara’s arm as we rush down the stairs.“I don’t care. Your mom was in the hospital. That can’t be easy. Let me help. Let me drive, pick up dinner, change the sheets, something.”“Chiara!” I say sternly. “This is none of your business. We don’t know each other well enough for me to make this your business. My life is heavily divided. I need to keep you in your section. No crossing over. Now if you’ll excuse me.” I get in my car and slam the door.I can’t help the heart ache as I drive away from someone who truly cares about me. And because I truly care about her, I keep driving.I rush to answer the knock at the door. “Hey Faye. I just want to apologise for earlier. I didn’t… oh fuck! What happened?” Chiara reaches out. Before Chiara can touch me I reach out and wipe the blood oozing from the wound on my cheek. My left eye waters at the contact. “Nothing. I’m fine.” “You’re not. You’re bleeding. It looks like…”“FREYAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!” The voice booms from inside. “Who is…” “FUCKING WENCH!” Glass shatters inside and I wince. “Chiara, I need you to never come back here unannounced again. Okay?”“O-o-okay.” She looks shell shocked. “I’ll talk to you tomorrow. I promise.” I close the door as she walks away. I head upstairs to my mothers room. “Fucking whore.” She
Faye“Morning.” Chiara greets and hands me a coffee. “Thanks.” I sip the seriously cup. “God that’s good.” “Morning Ladies.” Nick saunters over and rests in arm around Chiara’s shoulders. “Morning, Nick.” She says sweetly with a smile. “Are we ready for departure?” He says loudly. “Shhhhhhhhhhh.” I close my eyes and wrap both hands around the warm coffee cup. “It’s too early for excitement.” “She’s not a morning person.” Chiara says. I open my eyes to see her giggling. “Morning everyone.” Aidan says and he walks towards us with his arm around Danika’s waist. Jared, Ben and a girl whose name I don’t know follow closely behind, laughing. I love the sound of Jared’s laugh. His laugh alone makes me not hate this morning as much. It ev
The day goes by so painfully slow. Our group is paired with the one Jared’s in and all I can think about, breathe in, is the little slag draping herself on Jared like a fur coat. The thought of shooting and skinning her cane through my mind a couple times. Except instead of a coat, I would turn her into a rug so I could trample her and then take her outside and beat her with a stick. And Aidan was nothing but friendly with me the whole day. At dinner we sat across from each other at the 2 seater table. The exercise is to get to know your trip partner better seeing as we’re spending the next 2 days together. “How’s your cheek doing?” He asks while sipping his milkshake. “I can barley see it.”“The power of makeup.” I smirk. “What about you? How are your buckles doing?”“Fine.” He flexes his fingers. “All healed.”“Good.” I smil
It’s about 11 at night. Everyone is finally asleep. I quietly dig in my bag. Once I have everything I need, I use the tree outside our window to reach the ground. I move at a swift run down the streets. Winding through the high rise city. The blinding lights and fancy stores don’t distract me from running to the stunning building. I catch my breath before heading into the lobby and swaggering to the desk. Faye is replaced by Pixie. “I’m here for Mr Texiera.” I say to the receptionist. “You can go up.” She gestures to the elevator. “Floor 4.”I head to the elevator. Once the doors close I drop the bag on the floor and look in the mirror. I straighten my black leather shorts and tug the collar of my ankle length black coat. I straighten the top hat with bunny ears on my head, the hat hiding my hair. No makeup. The scar on my cheek still a sickly sweet pink. The door opens a
“Don’t talk to me till I’ve had coffee.” I announce to our breakfast table as I slump into the chair and put my head on the table. “Maybe if you were sleeping instead of sneaking into people rooms at night, you wouldn’t be so tired I think the morning.” Jared whispers in my ear as he sits down. I chuckle. “Maybe.” “Her Jared.” A very peppy Daisy bounces over. “Can I sit?” “Sure.” Jared says looking annoyed. She quickly grabs a chair from another table. “Do you mind moving over, Frey?”“It’s Faye.” You cunt, I think to myself as I glare at her and scoot my chair over. “I don’t like her either.” Aidan leans over and whispers. “Do you think if I slit her throat anyone would miss her?” “”Her hair stylist. Making it that un
Faye I try to take a deep breath but something heavy’s on my chest. I open my eyes and wince at the stream of light poking through the curtain from the never sleeping city. God my head hurts. This, this is why I stopped drinking. But looking down at a sleeping Jared, the throbbing dulls. He is so gorgeous when he sleeps. He snores like a sailer though. I run my hand gently through his silky hair. He moans lightly and scrunches his nose before his pretty green eyes sparkle as they stare into mine. “Morning.” I say softly. “Morning.” His voice is rough and god help me how it turns me on. “What time is it?”I look over at the clock on the wall. “5:45”“In the morning?” He whines. “Then go back to sleep.” I start playing with his hair again. “We need to talk.” He snuggles back into me though. &
Jared ‘Snorting Cocaine off of our mate!’ Flint growls at me. ‘But she’s here now.’ I reply. Looking down I didn’t know a person could feel so many emotions. She makes me so angry and then so confused and so fucking happy. She makes me happy. This little bundle of spunk. I can’t believe she managed to pin me! She’s so perfect. It’s going to be hard to not be possessive over her in public but I’ll do my best. And the whole being in only one part of her life was a shock but I’ll take it. I’ll take anything she gives me. ‘You did good.’ Flint purrs looking down at her too. I smile and stroke her hair. She fell asleep in my arms after our early morning conversation. I think this perfect woman holds a lot of secrets, a weight on her shoulders. It’s going to take a lot to convince her share the burdens she carries. ‘Don’t ever le
I don’t know when it happened, but in the last month I moved from Danika’s friend group to Aidan’s. They were all warriors in his pack and seriously cool. We spoke about deep things like politics between the packs and within the wolf community, defense strategies, ranking and sometimes we spoke about absolute crap like why raisins are not more dead than grapes and who was fucking who. I’m really good friends with Chiara but that’s more an outside thing now. And Jared… he’s the perfect boyfriend. Everything he does is perfect. We go on dates twice, three times a week. He surprised me with the sweetest little gifts at school. He sometimes fetches me for school and drops me off after. Just, Perfect. “So I think we should up training to an extra day a week.” Xavier says to the group. “But when? There’s no time. We’re already training that age group 4 times a week.&rdq
10 Months Later Jared “I’m going into town for a few things. Wanna come with? We can get a milkshake.” Chiara says as she leans against my office door way. “I’m busy at the moment.” I don’t even look up at her. “I’m only leaving in 15 minutes. If you change your mind, you know where to find me.” She sighs and walks out. I lean back and sigh as well. The last little while had been hectic. I know Chi is just trying to make it better so I finish my last few papers and head downstairs to meet Chiara. We drive around town and buy a couple of things before heading to the square with all the restaurants. On our little walk, I feel Flint stirring. I haven’t felt or heard from him since the day after the fire. As we pass a fancy restaurant, he snaps to attention. ‘She’s here!’ I howls.
Today has been a long, hard day. I’m ready to draw a long bubble bath and eat pad Thai and Spring rolls while watching Big Bang reruns after Alessio collects his order. I climb out my car and start unlocking the front door. I feel a body pressed against mine and something cool against my throat. “Hold still.” A deep manic voice sounds in my ear. “I just want the cocaine and no one gets hurt.” I close my eyes and take a breath, thinking of how to get myself out of this situation. He’s positioned himself so I can’t go for the crotch and he’s too tall for me to head butt into his nose. He angles the knife so it pierced my skin and I let out a muffled groan. “Open the door.” He hisses, spit splattering my cheek. I slowly turn the key in the lock and then pause. Hurry up Les, please. He moves the knife further into my skin
My mother is sober when I fetch her. Which means she throws ever insult and snide remark she can as we drive to the house.I’ve learnt to ignore her. I suppose that’s how I’m so good at ignoring everyone else. My former friend group tried to ‘fix it’ but I shut all of that down very quickly. Chiara and Danika’s group then had their attempt which had the same result. Hadley attempted to ‘collect the date you owe me’ but I turned him down which resulted in a lot of anger, him grabbing me and the two of us fighting in the halls. “Those bruises are very ugly, Freya.” My mother coos from besides me. “How do you expect to find a husband looking like that?” No concern for me. Never any concern for me. Not “is it a boy who did that too you?”, “do we need to file a report against someone?” Or simply “are you okay darling?
The entire field turns to look at us. The loud mouthed boy looks shocked before he falls to the ground and clutches is bleeding arm, crying. “Anyone else?” I turn completely around to the group of boys who are all silent and shaking their heads. “Right! Gather round and we can start. If you wish to see the pack doctors, go. But know I won’t wait for you or catch you up. The bullet didn’t hit anything vital, it went straight through and because you’re a wolf the bleeding has already stopped and will be healed in a few minutes.” He decided to stay and gathers with the other boys while sobbing. “Let’s start with the basics, how to clean the weapons.” _____________________Jared Everyone stops dead as the gun shot goes off. Flint screams at me to find Faye. We might not be on the best terms right now but she is still my mate and I need to protect her. As we
Wednesday evening comes quickly because I had a lot of order to prep so I skipped school. The people at my house thankfully made themselves busy outside of the house for the day. Weather it was pleasure or business, I don’t care. So I’m surprised when I have to turn my lights on in my office. “Hey Pix.” Reece walks into my office. “I’m busy.” I don’t even look up from my stack of finance papers. “I’m getting tired of your attitude.” He spits at me. “Then leave me alone. My attitude can’t bother you if you’re not around me.” “You truly are a spoiled brat.” He Scottish accent always gets stronger when he’s angry. “After everything we did for you, I did for you, this is how you treat me?” He stalks towards me. “I owe you nothing.” I sit back in my chair and place my arms on the rests w
Unknown POV We head through the airport with an aura of ‘don’t fuck with us’. As we walk through the gates, the only person in the place leans on a far wall. If it wasn’t for the copper hair I would’ve missed the slender figure dressed in all black. We head over to her and she pushes off the wall. She almost snarls as I smirk at her. “It’s been a long time, Pix.” “Not long enough.”_________________Faye The drive home is uncomfortable to say the least. Reece drives my car and I give directions. If I’d know it was him coming I would’ve prepared myself better. I recognise most of the men in the party of 10 across the 3 cars from my younger years in Scotland. Most of them in their late 20’s, early 30’s now. All excellent at their jobs. Some of them are as young, if not younger then I am. Those I do
Jared Her scent is intoxicating. It’s the best drug I’ve even encountered in my life. To be fair, the top spot was easy to take because I’m not a big drug user. But this, her, it’s all so perfect. You hear stories of what it’s like having a mate. Aidan told me about him and Danika a lot. But you never really know what it’s like till you experience it for yourself. ‘I particularly enjoy the part where we’re the only ones to make our mate cum.’ Felix chips in on my thoughts, purring like a kitten.‘That’s what you’re thinking about? Sex? She’s literally asleep in our arms and you’re thinking about sex?’ ‘Aren’t you? She is completely naked and pressed against us. She also smells like us.’‘That she does.’ I smirk down at my sleeping mate that smells so deeply of me. To be honest, I feel
“I think it’s time we head.” Chiara says and heads over to grab Nick. “Oh. Okay.” I say a bit disappointed. “Us too.” Danika loops her arm through Aidan’s. The rest of the guys say the same and everyone leaves. I wave from the threshold as everyone drives away. I head back into the kitchen where Jared leans against the counter. “Why didn’t you say.” He growls at me. “Say what?” What is he talking about? I start putting the dishes into the sink and tidying up. He pins me to the counter. “Tell me you didn’t cum?” His breath tickles my cheeks. “Danika told you.” I frown. “She shouldn’tve had to you. You should’ve.” “It’s not a big deal.” I place my hand on his chest in an attempt to push him away. He lifts me onto
Jared I stretch out in bed. I don’t think I’ve ever slept that well in my life! ‘Where’s Faye?’ Felix asks groggily. ‘Let’s stay in bed with her the whole day.’ ‘Let me go find her.’I slip out of bed and head downstairs following her delicious scent. I find her in the kitchen wearing my t-shirt. “Morning Kitten.” Her eyes snap up to mine and she smiles. ‘She is so perfect.’ Felix coos. He is such a love sick puppy. “Morning darling.” I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of that accent. “I wasn’t sure what you like so I made a lot of things for breakfast.”She places plate after plate of food on the counter. Pastries and eggs in ever form and bacon and sausages and beans and fruit salad and yogurt and an array of freshly squeezed juices. “T
