Shortly after waking from the dream Toby’s POV I run as fast as I can to get to Chris. We need to go after her. Apparently, we have to do it together. So, while I feel like hurting him for what he has done, I need to work with him. Cian bursts out of me so we can get to him faster. Before we know it, a brown chocolate colored wolf rushes to meet us. That’s right. I forgot that Chris got himself a wolf. He must have shifted as soon as he woke up. Cinnamon comes running up to us, bowing slightly. “No need for that, mate.” I mindlink the wolf. The wolf snorts in amusement. “Not mate. Brothers.” I roll my eyes. We don’t have time for this. We run side by side back to his castle. We notice Reggie, Preston, and Rachael standing in the main hall when we arrive. Cinnamon lets out a low growl towards Rachael. Her eyes widen. Preston walks forward. “Easy there, your Highness. She’s on her way out.” He says, with his hands up in surrender. So Preston already knows Chris’s wolf. Chris chang
Chris’s POV Waiting for Karina felt like forever. I was in a rush to get to my mate. I can feel things that I never felt before. I can feel pain in certain parts of my body even when I’m not the one that is hurting. They are faint but still enough to annoy me. If it’s Rae, then I am terrified of what is happening. The worst was last night when I felt a pain so intense I couldn’t breathe. Toby explained that it was a betrayal pain. It wasn’t as intense as normal but we knew what that meant. Rage boils inside me as I remember it. He is touching my wife, my Queen. Reginald walks in, sweating as if he had run a marathon. “Your Highness, Katrina.” He says as he allows the witch inside. “It’s about time.” Toby snaps. “Is that any way to speak to someone that you wish to help you?” She asks, with a knowing smile. “Sorry.” Toby says, contrite. “It’s alright, Alpha. I understand.” She says. She looks at me. “I guess I should call you an Alpha as well, your Highness.” I nod. “Has Regina
Toby’s POV Sleep eluded me, as much as I pestered Chris about it, because I could not keep my mind off of Rae. I feel it. I feel every time he touches her. Thankfully, not as strong. I know I’ve said this before but it’s a constant nag. “Knock knock, Alpha.” I hear Jessica rumble. Slowly I sit up and look around me. I see the rest of my guards standing around her wearing somber faces. “We thought that maybe we could have one more spar before we leave, Alpha. We can’t sleep.” She says. “The thought of what he’s doing to her…” She trails off. I look out the window, it’s still dark, and look back at rest. “Sure. Just be sure to get some more rest.” “Yes, Alpha.” Since I couldn’t sleep, I decided to take a peek at the books of monsters that we might have to face. I keep thinking to myself, ‘How are we going to beat them?’ Some of them look almost impossible. Dragons. Can you believe that there are dragons in the underworld? Apparently Hades uses them as defense to keep out other de
Chris’s POV I watch as Toby stalks closer. I’m unsure of what he is about to do. Yes, I lied. Yes, I am an idiot. Maybe I should just stand here and let him hit me. Yes, that is what I should do. Now that I am a wolf, I will heal. I feel that I deserve this any way. I stand as Toby throws a punch. He knocks me flat on my butt. He still stalks me and growls low. I just stare at him. I’ll let him get it out. He me up by my shirt and snarls in my face. “Fight back!” He growls. I can tell his wolf is on the edge. Cinnamon is just watching this play out. Traitor. I can feel him shrug his shoulder almost as if he agrees with me. I shake my head and he snarls again, shoving me away. I watch as he paces away. He tuns back around. “Why not!?” He snarls. “Because I deserve it.” I answer, quietly. He pauses, stares for a few minutes, takes a deep breath. “You’re right. You do.” He shakes his head. “But, I can’t do it. Rae loves you despite how much you messed up.” I hang my head. He’s ri
Chris’s POV I am covered in dirt and blood. I am unsure of how long that we have been battling but my arms are becoming sore and my breathing ragged. Granted, I lasted longer than I would have. We have multiple of our warriors that are injured but luckily no deaths. It’s been creature after creature. We’ve passed several cavern areas. I feel like this is going to be a never ending battle. I need to get to Rae. I need to get to her even if she doesn’t want me. The fact that I can feel everything two times harder now has me in a near constant state of panic. I glance over at Toby, who is wiping blood off of his face, and sigh. He’s forgiven me but her words to me keep ringing in my head. ‘We’re done. I am no longer your queen. Marry the lying princess instead.’ Those are her words. They have ran around my head since the day she said them. “Chris look out!” Preston hollers out. I turn just in time to see some sort of a serpent about to strike. Without thinking, I slice it’s head off
Rae’s POVDarkness surrounds me. I can’t seem to understand what is going on in my mind. I feel intense pain and I can hear some voices. I feel as if I should recognize them but I can’t seem to concentrate enough to hear them plainly. Two male voices are very distinct. They seem to be talking to a meek lady.Suddenly, I feel someone pick me up. I feel the pain but I am unable to make a sound or move. I feel a feather like electricity shoot through my temple as someone leaves a kiss. Who is this? There is something in my mind that tells me that I know.A cold rush hits my body as I am taken outside. At least I assume it is outside.“Hold on, little Luna.” I hear, sounding far away.“Please, my Love.” The second voice says.“This way. Hurry, before he gets back.” The meek voice says.I feel a shift in direction. Why can’t I open my eyes? Why do I feel so weak?“Hurry up!” She says again. “I don’t know how long he’ll be kept out of this plane. He’s arguing with his brother right now.”Wh
Rae’s POVThe warmth of two bodies surround me as consciousness pulls at me again. I remember their names, Toby and Chris. I feel so comfortable that I don’t even want to open my eyes. I just want to go back to sleep. I don’t even know how I got into this position. The bed does not even feel like the same bed that I had been in last night. It’s softer, bigger, and allows the two of them in it. I am squished between these two men. Something nags at me, telling me that I know these two men and that they are an important part of my life. Why can’t I remember them? ‘You will.’ Something in my head says. I’m not bothered by this voice as I know that she is somehow a part of me. ‘Go back to sleep, Rae. When you wake, your memory will return.’ I remember the last time she said that I was blocking myself. ‘You’re opening it up subconsciously. Though, I am sure that it has to do with these cute men beside us. They are your mates, afterall.’Hmm. Okay, maybe I should just get some sleep then. T
Rae’s POV 2 months later Laughter escapes my mouth as I run around the island. Toby is trying to spread icing on my face. Of course, it’s payback because I did it first. We were invited to a birthday party of one of the pups. Their mother asked me to cut the cake and I couldn’t resist. The kids are laughing at mine and Toby’s antics. He feints to the right. Too bad that I noticed he looked to my right first. See, he has a tell tale sign because he is worried that I am going to hurt myself. So, he just looks in that area first. I’m not even sure that he notices it. “You can’t escape me forever, Rae, darling.” He taunts. “Oh yeah?” I taunt back. “Yeah. It’s only fair you know. Don’t you kids agree?” He asks the kids. “The boys agree while the girls say a resounding ‘no’.” We both laugh. I squeal as he makes a move that I didn’t see. I jump across the island and stop in my tracks, my breath freezing in my chest. How did I not hear anyone come up from behind me? The lady standing
