Zera's lashes fluttered in bed to find Aaron already awake and staring at her with an adorable look on his gorgeous face. She knew this look because she had seen it countless times. Just like always, there was nothing adorable about her look. She squirmed and turned to face the other side of the bed, where he wouldn’t see her face.

She heard his rich chuckle, and he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer so that her back pressed against his chest.

“Good morning, my love,” he mumbled, leaning in and placing kisses on her shoulder. This was her weak spot, and he

“You know, for someone who’s supposed to be the centre of the party, you’re anywhere but near that.” Zera heard from behind, and she spun around to find Aaron standing there with two glasses of wine in his hands. He handed her one, and as she took it, he gulped his. They were currently at the Hart Company in the event hall, which was located on the fourth floor, to celebrate the company’s third anniversary. The event had started three hours ago, and they arrived two hours later to see the hall filled with guests and friends. Aaron knew many of them, but even after three years, Zera didn’t, and so he took her around, meeting and saying hello to them one after the other. After an hour of that, Zera asked to use the restroom, and he released her. She didn’t return to his side after she finished. Instead, she stayed in the corner of the hall, watching the show go on.Aaron was very good at handling and facing the crowd, but she wasn’t, and forcing herself to do so only left her anxious. Ye

“Zion’s mathematics competition is the week after his birthday.” Aaron said, glancing up at her as she made her hair into a ponytail. He had aided Zion in doing his homework yesterday and must have seen the school newsletter in the textbook.“I didn’t know that,” she said, turning around to look at him with a face of surprise.Unlike her, he didn’t have to hurry up to work. He had the luxury of taking his time and getting ready the way he should. While work for her started at eight a.m. almost every day, his was always nine a.m., giving him more time to waltz around. Most days he’d go by eight, but work started by nine. That was the benefit of owning your own company.“That’s because you have been much more invested in your work than him lately, but do not worry; I am an awesome dad, and so I’ve got it covered.” She rolled her eyes at his gloating. She felt a little relieved that he was up to date with his son, but she didn’t like how far back she was in regards to Zion’s education an

The Chill restaurant was in the third building opposite the university, which made it easy to locate, and that was where Lionel stayed, waiting for her. He reached out to her this morning, and he told her he hoped to see her and do a little catching up. She hadn’t seen him since the company’s anniversary party, which took place two weeks ago. Since the battle between packs ended two years ago, he and Sesi moved outside the pack estate. They had no cause not to, and that made it harder to reach them. Their relationship was stronger than ever. She didn’t have any reason to say no to the meeting, but she hinted that she only had a thirty-minute lunch break and couldn’t go very far. Lionel then told her they would have to find the closest place to sit out and talk. So she suggested lunch at the Chill restaurant because it was closer to her place of work.Zera waved at Lionel, who sat at the lunch table waiting for her arrival, and after a few seconds of waving nonstop, Lionel noticed. “Mrs Hart!” She heard the voice she had gotten to know call to her as she took the turn that led to her office. She turned around to find Davine behind her, and she growled in frustration. He held his hands up immediately in a show of surrender and didn’t take a step forward anymore. Not that it made things better. There was a brief welcome party hosted by the members of staff to welcome him and three other new professors to the institution. Everyone was invited to attend, and it was set immediately after the closing of the day so the professors would come. It was kind of mandatory, and so she came. She stood at the back and didn’t really participate in the meet and greet that took place between the old staff of over thirty people and the four new ones. She had a thin ear, and so despite being far away, she knew their names and every little detail about them just by listening closely. The host, Ms. Clair Raymond, put on a cheerful show, but Zera exhausted her last bit of energy after

“And when I looked back up, she was gone.” Zera finished her narration of things to Aaron, who had sat quietly for the last ten minutes listening. He got home over an hour ago, and after dinner and helping Zion with his homework, he tucked him into bed before returning to the bedroom. He had noticed her moody state all the while they were in the dining area, despite her attempt to cover it up while they ate. He said nothing, and she knew it was because Zion was at the table with them. She knew she would have to find a way to tell the truth as soon as they were alone, despite not knowing how to go about it. As soon as he stepped into the room ten minutes ago, she told him she needed to confess, and though taken aback by her bluntness, he didn’t stop her.“I think it’s getting worse,” she admitted. “I am sorry I didn’t say it quicker. I thought I could handle it, but as it turned out, I can’t, and it’s messing with my mind, and I want you to know about it.”He stayed silent, almost as i

Zera opened the door of the car and stepped out. It has been a crazy day, and an even crazier one at the university. The only things left on her mind right now were food, rest, and maybe sleep. Those were the orders they needed to follow as well. Her body wasn’t tired, so to speak, but her mind was. Her brain was exhausted from thinking, and she wanted to shut it down. She made her way up the balcony and towards the door, and when she got there, she pushed and stepped inside. She smelled the tasty smell of beef, and her mouth watered. This particular recipe for beef was made by none other than Aaron. That meant he had come home earlier and decided to enter the kitchen and cook. Her heart skipped in delight at the thought of meeting him.She made her way to the kitchen, and upon entering, she saw no one there. She figured he must have returned to the bedroom after cooking. It would only make sense. She made her way up the stairs, dragging her hand along the railing with every step. She

“I think it would be best if you did not go to work today. The nightmare has really shaken you, and it’s still all over you.” Aaron said this after watching her get ready for work in silence for over forty minutes. He didn’t want to be the one stopping her from doing the very thing she had always loved. He, however, didn’t know how she would cope with her mental state while at work. It made no sense to just throw herself out there. Supernatural or not, she needed a break. She paused after putting on her shoes. “I have to go. I have three classes, and those students depend on me for almost everything they need. There was no formal notice of my absence, and I’d be expected to report in,” she told him.“Call in sick then.”“That would be a lie.”“Not completely.”“Aaron, you’re not helping.”“I do not intend to.” He answered and rose to his feet. “I know what I saw this morning. It was my wife trapped in the lowest mental state I’ve ever seen, and only an inconsiderate husband would want

“Hey, my love.” Aaron said as Zera stepped into the kitchen. She had entered the living room and smelt the wonderful aroma of Ghanian-spiced turkey, and she immediately knew it was Aaron’s handiwork. She didn’t even go to the bedroom to set her bag down; she immediately approached. She remembered her dream, and it made her heartbeat unsteady, but Aaron’s voice, which came from within the kitchen, told her he was the one inside. She released a sigh, at ease with him, and walked over to the door to stare at him.She found him there in a white singlet that hugged and showed off his toned body and an apron around his neck and middle. She would never tire of seeing him.“Hey,” she replied with a small smile, happy to see him, “did you go to work?” She asked curiously.“What do you think?” He asked instead, and she frowned.Since when did he answer questions with another question? Still, she answered.“You don’t look to have gone to work today. Am I wrong?” she raised a brow at him.He cove

Eight months later,“I know you’re there; you can come out of hiding now.” Zera said before turning to the mirror she stood in front of.Diya came out of the spot where she had hidden herself beside the door since her arrival a minute ago.“Zera. Hey.”“This baby might have robbed my other senses, but I still have a strong sense of smell. I sniffed you out the minute you stepped into the hallway.” She said this and turned to Diya in her white dress, which stopped over her knees.Diya looked ready for the day, and here she was, not even recognising herself in her dress. She had chased Aaron out of the room because he kept complimenting her overgrown bump and calling her beautiful. She didn’t feel beautiful, and she felt he only said it to make her feel better. That infuriated her and made her send him to Zion’s room.Davine told her eight months ago at the Hart Lab opening that she was a few weeks pregnant. Of course, she didn’t believe him because she was a sage and also because her bo

The Dominio pack has experienced peace like none other since the rest of the packs that survived the war moved back and continued their lives on their own. “Do I look presentable for the night?” Zera asked, turning away from the mirror to face Aaron. He glanced at her from head to toe, and there was satisfaction on his face. “You know, you always look presentable.”She rolled her eyes, giving her silver sweetheart dress one last glance before stepping away from the mirror. “I think you might be talking about yourself, Mr.”He smiled cockily. “I will take it as a compliment,” he said as he brushed over his grey suit. “Shall we go?” he asked, extending an arm to her.“Yes, we shall.” She accepted his hand, and together they stepped out of the room. The opening of Hart’s lab was a small ceremony, but many dignitaries from all over the world welcomed it. After the war, Damor began his work of testing the lab and going through the final reviews. It took him three months, and though he had

Aaron, just like Damor, had moved to attack Lucius, but his minions were willing to put themselves in the way. He had taken down three werewolves, one sage, and is currently battling another sage. It was easier said than done because, unlike the first sage he fought, this one seemed stronger, if there was such a thing. His healing abilities were kicking in to repair the damage to the broken bones and ribs, but they were not fast enough for the assault his body was taking. The sage had kicked the golden dagger away, and he was forced to fight with his hands, which wasn’t a fair fight.“You’re the alpha Aaron from the strongest line?” The sage, who had told him his name before the battle but didn’t care to keep it in mind, spoke. “This is a joke. You do not pose any threat to our alpha.” He spat on the floor.Aaron laughs, and this made the sage raise a brow. “What is so funny?”Aaron pulled himself to his feet and asked, “If I pose no threat, why does your so-called alpha want me dead

The entire pack was already outside as the night came along. Many had already been training for hours and didn’t see the point of going inside. A lot took it as their last day and just trained, regardless. They had a point; they didn’t know the numbers of those coming against them. It would be safe to consider giving it all, even though they wouldn’t make it out alive. That would be the right way to go.They noticed the presence of Aaron, and those training out in the open field paused and stepped back from each other.“The enemy will be here any minute. They will come with forces stronger than ours, probably more savage than ours; however, there is something they don’t have. The zeal we have.” They mumbled their agreement with his words.“They are coming with the sole aim of taking control, and we will fight with the sole aim of living. They do not get to decide our lives. I know many of you are scared, but so am I. I am afraid, but with that fear, I will use it to fight this battle,

Four nights later,Agitation grew within the pack after the fourth night came, and no attack from the Legion of Sages followed. It created doubt in the hearts of many, as they wondered if Lucius was even going to attack. No one slept as they anticipated the attack throughout the night, only to be proven wrong twice.Aaron had nothing to tell the pack; he had known that Lucius was not a man of his word, and this was to be expected. It didn’t mean he wouldn’t attack, but he wanted to play with them first, stretch their patience, and see how far it would go.Zera didn’t care that Lucius didn’t attack; she saw it as an opportunity to train Lionel. She had seen him battle Aaron days ago and thought he could do better with a little training. Though she didn’t get the chance immediately, she got it the next day and has trained with him since. She set out as soon as the day broke and has been at it since. She didn’t see them losing to Lucius despite his advantage, and he also wanted to think

Lionel took it better than Zera had initially anticipated because he just nodded and said he was fine with it. She didn’t want to believe his words, but she had to trust that he was telling the truth. When Manon finally arrived, Lionel was one of those to welcome him, as he had no prior visit to this one. There was no bad blood or grudge held, or at least she couldn’t see it.He shook hands with Manon and told him he was the luckiest man alive to have Sesi as his mate. Then he told him to take care of her, or he would hunt him down and kill him. It was a threat, and from the sound of his voice, he was dead serious. That should have been Aaron’s line, but Lionel didn’t care; he said it. He obviously still cared about Sesi and wanted only the best for her.Manon nodded and told him he would not forget his words in case he ever did something to hurt Sesi. Lionel tapped his shoulder and walked away.Zera turned to Aaron and asked him if he had any threats left for Manon, and he shook his h

Aaron was barely awake when he felt a hand on his body, and it wasn’t just any hand, but an arousing one. His skin tingled at the contact, and he squirmed and moved to continue the sleep, assuming it was just a dream. The touch came again, and this hand knew his body well. It knew all the right places it needed to touch and how softly and firmly he wanted each part held. A moan erupted from his mouth, and his eyes opened to find Zera between his legs. He drew a sharp breath at the realisation of what was happening.“You’re awake,” she said, grinning at him, and then stroked him at a medium pace.“Were you hoping I wouldn’t?”“I hoped you would stay asleep a little longer; bite me,” she said. His hand reached out to stroke her face lazily. “With that mouth of yours, I will do whatever you tell me to.”She chuckled and took his head into her mouth. “Fuck! Oh my, Zera, that feels so good.” He moaned, and his head fell back into the pillow, and his eyes fluttered.“Do we have time for thi

With Alpha Kol’s permission, Aaron sent the members of his pack along with the members of the Dominio pack later that day. They went out in threes following his instructions. The reason was because he knew the packs outside might not want to follow the words of the members of the Domino pack to join forces; however, with the presence of the members of the retribution pack among them, their messages would be accepted in a different light. The retribution pack members will help convince the other pack Alpha to join forces in the coming war once they learn about the enemy from them. While at home, he tried to prepare himself.“Am I overthinking this, or is Ivan an even bigger dick than I am on my dick days recently?” Damor asked, stepping into the study and shutting the door behind him. His presence and words moved Aaron’s attention to him. “Ivan had changed a lot, ever since he had ventured into the past of the wise ones, just moments of their execution. It was sure to happen. Getting a letter from Alpha Lucius was the last thing Aaron expected the next day, but it came in the morning. No one knew how it came, as Nigo and Lawrence, the betas on watch, had seen no one drop it and only saw the letter much later into the dawn of the day.Greeting Alpha of the Dominio Pack, I would use this as a formal announcement since you already know and there is no point in hiding and seeking anymore. We are coming for your blood first, and then your head next. You have these last four days to put all your houses together. Because the cleansing is coming. You had luck taking out my favourite sage girl, but I will attack with a legion of sages, and I would love to see you die trying to take them down.
