Tessa's pov

sitting in the plane i can't help but think about my life so far.

‘it's been awhile’ and during this period i have learned and unlearned, loved and unlove but I am very lucky to go through this journey with my daughter and Rolex by our side.

i met Rolex Smith in the most funny way, in an interview in the fashion world, i assumed he is one the contestant due to how simple and kind he is, you hardly see a CEO act that way, though it's his family business, he has passion for cooking so he opened an eatery, we got along so well during my pregnancy stage and after i gave birth to Shally, he has always been the one supporting me. and am proud to call him my best friend.

As for Elvis i haven't heard from him for years, most times i do wonder what his life is like now,

Is he married to Harriet?, probably living his best life with the woman he chose.

After returning the house and property, Rolex told me about private investigators preying into my life, but due to his strong backing they didn't get any information

and of course i know he sent them.

Amongst all i am happy of the woman i have become, my daughter, my career and my life now, it was all worth it.

i can't wait to go back to my daughter, i wasn't forced or entitled to come to this business trip. but i can't let my past life determine my career, so i agreed to it, and as well to prove to my co-workers that my progress is due to my hard work and not my friendship with Rolex.

"we've arrived at our destination. please remain seated until the aircraft has come to a complete stop. then, you may disembark and proceed to baggage claim.

The flight attendant's words brought me back to reality.

oohh I am back here in New York again, i just want to sneak in and out of this country quietly, i didn't even inform my father or even Mr's Rand. And the last person i don't ever wish to encounter is Elvis.

ELVIS’S POV

It's been 7 whole years, and yet no news of Tessa apart from the money and property transfer of the house I gave her as compensation for our divorce.

Is she married?

What could she be up to?

I have sent dozens of professional private investigators, yet no news of her.

whose backing is behind her?

It frustrates me so much that I know nothing about her, or she's up to.

I have never been so frustrated like these past 7 years, nothing interests me or lights up my mood.

i know i shouldn't be thinking about her, i asked for a divorce myself but i can't help but question my decisions now.

i no longer feel that spark for Harriet, I just want her back

i know i sound really stupid but i want her back.

“fuckkkkkkkkkkkk” i couldn't resist the urge and punch the wall, i want to feel pain maybe that will distract me from thinking about her.

“si…sir is everything alright” jordan my assistant walked in and he probably heard me cursing.

“any update, i need something to keep me occupied” i asked acting normal as usual.

“Yes sir, the fashion world sent a representative from Canada for the meeting, do you wish to attend”

after growing my company, i normalize investing in other bigger companies so as to grow more and acquire much population and the fashion world is one of the companies i invest in.

“Canada?” i couldn't help but ask again.

on learning that Tessa base in Canada, i became so interested in everything that has to do with Canada and i doubt that it's normal

“i will attend, get my car ready let's go”

“no sir, it's tomorrow he said averting eye contact with me.

“then why are you telling me today, i told you i need something to keep me occupied now” i asked already very pissed.

Sorry sir, it's their file, you have to go through them today against tomorrow,” he said, still avoiding eye contact with me.

“then bring it here and stop acting like a scared cat” he left immediately, coming back with a file, placed it on the table and stood there

“what is the problem, speak”. I noticed he looked hesitant.

“Uhmmm, sir I know you said I shouldn't mention her that you are occupied, but she pleaded that she wants you to come for her father's dinner party” he said referring to Harriet.

I thought choosing Harriet and divorcing Tessa was the right decision.

7 years have passed, i haven't proposed to her or even married her.

i now realize that what i felt for her was just infatuation, the thought of marrying her doesn't even suit.

Most times I spend the night in the office, just to avoid seeing her. She has a habit of pretending to come get something or to bring lunch whenever I am at home.

“simply say that I am busy, is it hard to say?” i said already pissed that he mentioned her

“si…sir_”

“hold it, don't try negotiating terms with me” i brutally cut him off knowing fully well that he is trying to plead for her.

“ok sir, thank you sir”.

Now sitting alone in my office, I can't help but still think about her. I have sent a secret investigator to prey in her life, but they all come back with no meaningful information, which means she has a strong backer behind her, who could that be?. Is it possible she has moved on?.

I still can't help but wonder what our life would have been like if we were still married.

Fashion world

just coming out from my hotel room

Today is the day for the meeting that brought me down to New York. I have been lucky so far. I haven't come in contact with Elvis or anyone that knows me, not even my father knows I'm back.

I wish to just finish up and go back to my daughter, Just the thought of her brightens my face.

“Welcome Miss Tessa, the investors are already in the meeting room” the Ceo of the branch in New York greeted, somehow reminding me that I am already late.

On getting into the meeting hall,

as i scanned the room, my eyes landed on a familiar face - one that made my heart skip a beat, my mind went blank

Elvis my ex husband.

I took a deep breath, trying so hard to steady my breathing.
