“Hi mom,” Zendaya greeted as she came down to the dining table. “Where’s dad and Levi?”

“Morning, honey,” Kiandra greeted her daughter. “They are already at the office.”

“Levi’s going to lose his mind very soon,” Zendaya smiled and her mother chuckled.

“He’ll live,” was all her mother said, after which she asked her to sit for breakfast.

After she had breakfast, she kissed her mother goodbye, after which she headed to her mansion to pick up some documents she needed for a business meetings later that day.

Despite the drama and chaos that seemed to be the norm in her life lately, this morning had felt surprisingly calm.

However, that was until her housekeeper appeared outside her room with a tense expression on her face.

“Ma’am,” the housekeeper started, her voice hesitant, “there are two detectives downstairs, and they say that they are here to see you.”

Zendaya frowned, her mind immediately jumping to Daniel’s case.

It would be a lie if she said she hadn’t been expecting them. Aft

A sleek black car was parked down the street from the police station, its tinted windows hiding the people inside from prying eyes. Inside, the two men sat, their gazes fixed on the entrance of the building. They had watched as Zendaya Valencia was escorted inside, handcuffed, and the flashing cameras and shouting reporters only added to the drama of the scene. The taller of the two men, chuckled, he leaned back in his seat. “Well, boss, it looks like everything’s falling into place.”The man in the backseat smiled faintly but didn’t reply immediately as his eyes remained fixed on the station’s entrance.“Zendaya Valencia,” the boss finally spoke, his tone measured. “The perfect chess piece to draw out Jayden.”The taller man turned to look at his boss. “Do you really think he’ll take the bait? From what we’ve gathered, Jayden isn’t exactly the type to fall into such a trap.”“That’s precisely why this will work,” the boss replied smoothly, his lips curling into a faint smile. “Jayd

Jayden sat at the head of the conference table as he listened to the employee give the latest quarterly reports. The projector on the wall displayed a graph, its sharp upward trend signaling their recent success despite the recent crisis. Normally, he would be fully engaged, his sharp mind dissecting every number and strategy. But today, his focus was split, and it was thanks to a certain blonde in his life. He looked down when his phone, which was on the conference table, buzzed softly, lighting up with an incoming call.He looked at the caller ID, and he saw that it was Arthur calling. He sighed, rolling his eyes. Arthur hardly ever called for something important but to get on his nerves.Without hesitation, he declined the call, his thumb brushing the screen as he redirected his attention to the meeting.“As you can see,” one of his managers was saying, gesturing toward the graph, “the campaign has driven significant growth in our target demographic.”Jayden nodded absently,

Jayden walked into the police station. Gosh, he hated coming there. His jaw was tight, his shoulders squared, and his presence commanded immediate attention. It was something that came with being a GeranoEven though he knew his presence there wouldn't be helpful to Zendaya in the actual sense of it, he still wanted to be there.“I’m here to see Zendaya Valencia,” he said to the officer behind the desk, his tone leaving no room for delay. The officer gave him a wary look. “And you are?”“Jayden Gerano,” he replied firmly. The officer paused, as if weighing whether to question further, but something about Jayden’s demeanor stopped him. “She’s on the second floor. The elevator is that way,” he said.Jayden immediately made his way to the elevator. He didn’t know what condition Zendaya was in, but he knew one thing for certain: she was likely unraveling. As soon as he arrived there, his gaze landed on Lucas and Levi, who were seated and deep in conversation. Their heads turned at the

Lucas’ steps increased as he approached the front door of his home. He exhaled deeply, his jaw clenched, his thoughts a mixture of anger, disbelief, and frustration. He still couldn't believe that his daughter was with Jayden Gerano. The image of her throwing herself into that boy’s arms replayed in his mind and he couldn't get out of his head no matter how much he tried. He pushed the door open to find Kiandra waiting in the living room. Her expression faltered the moment she saw his face, which was filled with anger. She immediately rose from the couch, as a look of concern made its way to her face.“Lucas?” Her soft voice broke the silence. “What happened? Where’s Zendaya?” She asked as she looked behind him to see if Zendaya was behind him, but she wasn't.She had been asked by Lucas to stay home and wait for them, as he didn't want her to get dragged into the mess much to her dismay. However, Lucas had put his foot down, and he had assured her that he would bring Zendaya home

Kiandra followed Lucas into his study, her steps deliberate but soft, giving him time to notice that she had walked into the room. Lucas stood by the window, his shoulder tense as he stared out. The tension in the room was noticeable, his rigid stance was one that screamed frustration."Lucas,"Kiandra began in a soft voice as she closed the door behind her.Lucas didn’t turn to face her, but he spoke. "I know what you’re going to say, Kiandra and I, but don’t want to hear it right now.""Too bad," Kiandra replied, her voice firm as she moved closer to him. "Because you’re going to hear it whether you want to or not."Lucas sighed, his shoulders slumping slightly as he finally turned to face her. His jaw was tight, his expression a mixture of anger and pain. "I can’t believe this, Kiandra. After everything we’ve done to protect her, after everything she had been through in his hands, she chooses him. The one person who I thought would never have a place in her life."Kiandra stepped

The drive home was a blur for Jayden, as his mind was in chaos due to Zendaya’s tear-streaked face constantly popping in his head.He knew Lucas would be mad when he discovered the truth, but in his haste to get to Zendaya, he hadn't considered one thing, that she would be at the receiving end.‘Fuck!’ He cursed as he ran his fingers through his hair roughly. Maybe he had made a mistake by going there.‘No, I didn't,’ he muttered to himself. The fact that Zendaya had rushed to him instead of her father told him just how much he needed him. What he had to work on was gaining Lucas' approval, and he groaned, as it wasn't like him to care what anyone thought, but this was for Zendaya. He knew just how much she loved her father, and she would be broken if he and Lucas didn't get along. He finally reached his mansion and he stepped outside the gates. He didn't dare go to the abandoned mansion as every inch was filled with her presence, which would haunt him. Plus, the workers were still w

Zabelle laid in her bed as tears streamed down her face, leaving its trail on her cheeks. The silence in her room was deafening, and it was a stark contrast to the chaos happening inside her. Her father's words echoed in her mind, his disappointment eating deep into her. “... I’m disappointed in her.”More tears streamed at that point, as it was the first time he had ever said such words to her, and it cut into her like a knife.A soft knock on the door broke her out of her thoughts and she quickly wiped her tears as she wondered who it was.Taking a deep breath, she got out of bed and slowly opened the door. Standing there were her parents, and her breath hitched in her throat. Her father had his jaw clenched, and she could still see he was angry, while her mother's eyes held a mixture of sadness and apprehension, which in turn made her apprehensive."Dad," she whispered, her voice trembling. He didn't look at her, merely nodded towards the room. Zendaya let out a shaky breath as she ran her fingers through her hair. She had been staring blankly at her ceiling for minutes or was it hours? She didn't know as she had lost track of time. Zendaya finally looked away from the ceiling when her phone buzzed on the nightstand.Frowning, she reached for it and her heart skipped a beat when she saw the message “We’re at your house. You need to come. Now.”It was Anaya’s number, but the sharp tone made it clear that this wasn’t just a casual hangout.Zendaya’s pulse quickened. Why were they there? Was it because of Jayden or the murder allegation? The murder allegation. All thanks to the chaos that ensued she had forgotten about the fact that she was accused of murder. She barely had time to think before she was on her feet, grabbing her bag and a hoodie. Maybe a change of environment was what would be good for her.Quietly, she tiptoed out of her room, careful not to alert her parents. Her father’s words still echoed in her mind, and

Two Months LaterThe Gerano mansion was buzzing with energy as the family and other well-wishers gathered to celebrate Jayden's birthday. The air was filled with laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses as the sun began to set. Jayden stood near the center of the room, talking to friends when he caught sight of Lucas approaching him.“Excuse me,” he said to the men he was talking to and he walked towards Lucas.“Enjoying the party?” Jayden asked with a smirk.Lucas shot him a look, which showed that he had been forced to be there probably by his wife and daughter. “I still don't like you. Don’t push it,” he warned.Jayden pouted as he pretended to be sad. “Don’t say that father-in-law,” he said and he had to stifle his laughter at the horrified expression Lucas always gave whenever he called him that. After he was discharged from the hospital, he and Lucas sat down to have a chat about Zendaya and his relationship.Lucas' words were simple, “Hurt her and you die.”He wondered w

Lucas caught her, steadying her with a reassuring hand on her shoulder.“You’re safe now,” Lucas said gently.“But Jayden…” Zendaya whispered, her eyes never leaving Justin’s retreating figure as he carried Jayden toward an ambulance that had just arrived.“He’ll be fine,” Lucas assured her. “You need to rest as well.”Paramedics rushed to Justin, quickly taking Jayden onto a stretcher.Blood seeped through his bandages, and Zendaya’s stomach churned at the sight. She tried to follow, but Lucas held her back.“You need to get checked too,” Lucas insisted, gesturing to another paramedic who was approaching her.“No,” Zendaya protested, shaking her head. “I need to go wit

The deafening sound of the gunshot echoed through the room, and Zendaya braced herself for the end. But to her surprise, she felt no pain. Slowly, she opened her eyes, her heart pounding in her chest.Anil stood frozen, his eyes wide with shock. And her mouth fell open when she saw that he had been shot in the shoulder. Regardless, he proceeded to shoot her once again and another shoot to his legs brought him down on his knees."Step away from her!" a familiar voice roared with anger as he stepped into the room.It was Jayden. He looked disheveled, and her heart bled when she saw his physical condition. “Jayden?” Zendaya called her voice a mix of relief and disbelief.Anil snarled, raising his gun to fire, but Jayden didn’t hesitate. Another shot rang out, and this time, it was to his palm.Anil groaned in the weapon slipping from his grasp and Jayden kicked it away as he then pounced on Anil.“Jayden, he'll die,” Zendaya stated when Anil had turned into a bleeding mess. Her words

Zendaya’s head throbbed as she slowly opened her eyes. She saw she was in a dark room and a frown appeared on her face. Her body ached as she tried to move, only to find herself bound to a chair. Her wrists were tied tightly behind her back, the coarse rope digging into her skin as she moved. Panic immediately set in as she struggled, her breaths quick and shallow. The faint creak of a door opening sent chills down her spine as she turned in the direction of where the sound had come from. “Who’s there?” she demanded, her voice hoarse. “What do you want?”The figure didn’t respond immediately, stepping closer until the overhead light flickered on. The sudden brightness made her wince, but when her eyes adjusted, her blood ran cold as she saw who was in front of her.“Anil?” she whispered in disbelief. He stood before her, a cruel smile on his face that sent shivers down her spine. He looked different his usually composed demeanor replaced with something sinister and there was a

The fluorescent lights of the hospital hallway greeter Jasmine and Justin rushed toward the ER, their steps hurried and frantic. The receptionist’s voice on the phone had been calm but grave when she’d informed them of Jayden’s accident. Jasmine’s heart hadn’t stopped pounding since as her mind conjured every worst-case scenario about Jayden and how he was doing. Justin walked beside her, his face pale and tight with worry.“What do they mean someone hit him and then disappeared?” Jasmine muttered, her voice trembling. “Who does that? Who leaves someone on the road like that?”Justin placed a hand on her back, and he rubbed it gently. Though his expression was grim. “We’ll find out. Let’s focus on Jayden first.”The moment they reached the nurse’s station, a staff member gestured them toward a private room. “He’s stable,” the nurse reassured them quickly, seeing the panic etched on their faces, and it made them calm down a bit. “The doctors did a thorough examination, and his in

Jayden drove aimlessly through the city, the steady hum of the car engine doing little to drown out the storm raging in his mind. As he remembered his father’s revelation, he felt suffocated. His hands clenched the steering wheel with such intensity that his knuckles turned white, and the faint creak of the leather beneath his grip was the only sound competing with his labored breathing.Jasmine isn’t my mother. The thought repeated itself over and over, echoing in his mind. He couldn’t believe it. She was the woman who had raised him, loved him, been there for him through every high and low. She wasn’t his real mother.Every memory of her felt tainted now, overshadowed by the truth. The fact that they had hid it from him for all of his life and probably wouldn’t have told him had the article not come out was a slap to his face. The betrayal hit him in waves, each one stronger than the last. Why hadn’t they told him? Why had they waited until the news forced their hand? He thoug

Jayden drove home in a haze, his hands gripping the steering wheel, and he imagined his being someone's neck. He subconsciously tightened his grip on the steering wheel until his knuckles turned white. The article, the headline that Jasmine wasn’t his real mother, echoed in his mind. His mind struggled to make sense of it, but something deep inside him was beginning to put two and two together, and something began to shift. ‘You’re being unreasonable,’ he muttered to him as he shut those thoughts out of his head. The drive home felt longer than it should have been, and when he finally arrived at the mansion, the weight of it all pressed heavily on his chest. As he entered the house, a strange sense of heaviness hit him. It was more than just the eerie quiet that settled over everything; there was something palpable in the air. “Your parents are in their room, sir.” The helper who opened the door informed him. Jayden nodded, his heart pounding harder as he made his way up

Zendaya stirred awake, the first rays of sunlight peeking through the curtains. The room was warm, and the faint smell of Jayden lingered in the air, a mix of his cologne and something undeniably him. Opening her eyes, she blinked a few times before turning her head to see Jayden sleeping beside her, his face relaxed and peaceful. Her lips curled into a soft smile as she took in the sight of him. He was lying on his stomach, the sheets were around his waist, leaving his broad back and a glimpse of his toned arms on display to her.His dark hair was messy, sticking up in different directions from her fingers running through it last night.Last night. The two men stood on opposite sides of the room, their faces partially hidden. The taller man paced, his hands shoved deep into his pockets as his mind raced. He finally stopped, turning to face his boss, who was seated behind the desk.“We’ve got something big,” the taller man said, his voice laced with excitement and malice. “Something that’ll change everything, boss.”The boss didn’t respond immediately. He leaned back in his chair, his sharp eyes narrowing as he studied the man before him. “What is it?” he asked, his tone calm but deadly. The taller man hesitated for a moment before stepping forward and placing a file on the desk. “It’s about Jayden,” he said, tapping the file with a finger. “Something that has been hidden.”The boss arched a brow, his interest piqued.
