Years later at the diner...

Eva Adams settled yet another stressful table at the Hot coffee n Diner. She had been used to the busy place for the past five years.

“Eva sweetie, you might want to cover the last table,” her best friend Amy said rubbing her shoulder. She was the only person who held her hand after she moved to New Jersey.

Despite working on another line of work, she from time to time came to help in her grandparent's diner.

“The guy again?” Eva asked, chuckling as she saw the man who kept pestering Amy. Amy always tried to avoid him but he appeared to be everywhere she was.

Amy nodded, shrugging her shoulders as she glanced at her watch.

“Sort that out for me sweetie, I need to go prepare for work it's already 4pm,” Amy said untying her apron.

“Okay, don't forget to pick him up from school, I might come off early today,” Eva said as she walked towards the table.

Amy was a great help to her life despite her not appreciated line of work as an exotic dancer, she was kind hearted.

Eva completed the order returning to the waiting desk as she stared into space. She let her gaze linger on the man who kept pestering Amy, she couldn't help but admire the man's efforts.

It's been years since she even thought of having a man in her life. The thought of going through what she went through always held her back. But over the years as her priorities shifted, she didn't have to worry much about her marital status.

The bell ringing startled her, pulling her out of her thoughts. Eva pulled herself together as she looked at the customer. The moment their eyes locked she felt her breath hitch at the Greek god standing before her. Her heart raced like she had been running for hours.

Ronald Foxx visited New Jersey for business, feeling thirsty he instructed the driver to stop. A certain coffee and diner got his attention as he walked across the street.

Entering the coffee shop his eyes rested on a woman he could have sworn didn't exist. Her well sculpted face looked heavenly that he wishes to run his fingers on her face.

Her toned skin drew him in like a magnet. Her curly blonde hair reminded him of a certain woman on the engagement night back in New York. He tapped the counter softly but the woman looked lost in thought as she didn't respond.

Ringing the bell she jumped up in fright as she looked at him in shock. Which quickly changed into awe and admiration as their eyes locked.

“Hello, I would like a black coffee with one sugar,” he placed his order, fighting hard to hide the smirk as he saw how the lady gawked at him openly.

“Miss?” He called, seeing as if she didn't hear him as her gaze stayed fixed on his face, it was like she had seen a new discovery.

Eva felt her face turn red in embarrassment as she pulled herself together.

“Sorry, what did you say you wanted?” She asked avoiding eye contact as she waited for his order once again.

“You…I mean a cup of black coffee with one sugar,” Ronald found himself dropping a lame pick up line. Seeing her before him made him feel younger again.

Eva's eyes widen as she didn't miss the first word that left his mouth making her heart race. How could a god-like man want her maybe it was just a slip of tongue.

For some reason, Eva felt a sense of familiarity around the strange handsome man, something she hadn't felt since that night.

“Here you go Sir, anything else?” Eva asked handing him the coffee as she tried to keep her voice straight.

Ronald didn't miss how breathless the woman seemed making him smirk openly at the effect he had on her. He couldn't allow this to be the last time they see each other.

“Not yet, can you pack five cuos of coffee, same make?” Ronald requested glad that the woman didn't appear busy. Being around her brought him some joy he didn't understand.

Eva nodded feeling more breathless having him around, it was like he was taking all her air for himself.

“Sure…no problem,” she responded avoiding his gaze as she got to work not missing his hot gaze on every step she took.

Within minutes it was done, “here you go,” she said placing the order on the counter.

“If you wouldn't mind, would you help me take them to the car kindly, I have to make a call, my driver's parked just across the street,” Ronald said as he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket.

Eva step out of the counter hesitantly walking towards the exit with the man behind him. Instead of fear of having a stranger behind her, she felt strangely secure.

True to his word his car was parked across the street. Eva quickly handed over the coffee hurrying back to get to work.

“Excuse me miss, here's my card, I'll be here for a few days do you think you can deliver coffee for my company?” Ronald called as she saw her hurrying back inside.

“A whole company?” Eva asked looking at her as her eyes grew wide in shock.

“Yeah, it's not that big, maybe you can drop by to get the specifics but you already have mine, right?” Ronald asked feeling stupid for giving her such a deal. All he wanted was to keep seeing her from time to time.

Eva nodded smiling cheekily as her heart leapt in joy, in all the five years the coffee shop had never gotten such a huge order.

“Thank you so much Sir, I really appreciate this,” Eva said holding the card gently in her hands.

“Call me Ronald, no need to call me sir,” Ronald said smiling back at her slightly. Something about this woman intrigued him in ways he couldn't explain.

Eva felt her cheeks heat up as the idea of the man before possibly flirted with her.

Eva pushed the door to her apartment knowing all to well that Amy had probably left for work.

“Mommy! Mommy!” Her bundle of joy called as he jumped on her as was his habit.

“How's my favorite champ doing?” Eva said as she shuffled his dark curly hair. She looked at him admiringly, the fruit of her womb.

That night years ago was a blessing for her, she could never get enough if seeing her son. That morning she didn't only walk out with one thing that didn't belong to her but two.

“Mommy, look what I found in a box,” Jay shrieked happily as she flaunted a big of jewelry that Eva thought she misplaced years back.

“Where did you get this? Where's your aunty Mary?” Eva asked as she looked around for her babysitter.

“I'm here Miss, about that old chain, he found it lying on the floor to his room under the big drawer,” Mary explained as she stood prepared ready to leave. She always came by for a few hours until Eva was back from work.

“Okay, thanks for today, have a good night,” Eva wished her giving her, her dues as she shrugged her shoulders heading to the kitchen.

Jay already gone to his playroom, Eva clutched the chain in her hand as a smile creeped up her face.

The chain was something she accidentally took with the stranger's bag as she tried to escape.

She would always look at it for any clues but except for a sizable light metallic vessel that hang on it, she didn't she anything helpful on it.

Nevertheless, she needed to keep it maybe one day, it'll bring up something helpful.

The doorbell rang pulling her out of her thoughts as she walked to open. Thinking maybe Mary left something behind age pulled the door open. Only to reveal the strange handsome man from earlier.

Eva's eyes grew wide in shock as her mouth dried of any words.

“Mr. Ronald,” Eva managed to push out the words making her sound breathless.

“Hello, I'm sorry for dropping by without notice, it's not like I'm stalking you or anything but you dropped your ID and I …” Ronald tried to explain as he handed her the ID that contained her address and identity.

Ronald stopped in between his sentence as he noticed something she held in her hand. That was impossible, he lost that chain when he needed it most, maybe it was his eyes playing tricks on him.
