Silence filled our space as he just continued cleaning the wound in my fingers.

I stared at the dark raven strands that went loose on his forehead, almost covering the thick brows he had framing his gorgeous eyes.

He was kneeling on the ground but he was still basically face to face with me with how tall he was when I was sitting on the sofa. His whole attention was just down, on my hands that he was meticulously cleaning.

I sighed a deep breath and once again spoke.

“Why are you here, Titus?” With the mention of his name, his movements paused for a while.

His pair of orbs went to me, and even when I’ve just seen them not a minute ago, I was once again surprised at how they looked in this kind of lighting.

He stared at me as I waited for him to speak. And for a moment I thought he was going to ignore me again, but as he leaned down to take the wrapper on the first aid kit, he spoke.

“You didn’t clean your wound. I saw you running opposite of the quarters,” he said as he started wrappin

I looked at him, wide-eyed and gaping, not knowing what to say.Silence stretched around us as we both continued staring at each other.Titus’ eyes usually had gold specs when we both talked about our matebond. I recognize that as his wolf taking part of his thinking and his urges about our relationship. But now, it was just him and those drowning dark hazel orbs of his. They were watching me, as if being very careful and observant of what I might react and how he’d deal with it. But all I could do was gape in shock. I don’t even know whether I’ve already took that in. He was putting the blame on himself for what happened to me and to the rest of the people that his forefathers have wronged. He was apologizing for something he wasn’t directly responsible for. He was ignoring me because he was guilty. And he wasn’t supposed to have a mate as a curse to their blood, but he has me. Still not able to say anything, I just blinked up at him. After a short while, Titus’ hand fell on his s

Tongues intertwined, I pulled myself out of his embrace, feeling so out of breath.“W-wait…I need a moment,” I said and inhaled deeply.Titus’ hand caressed my back towards my waist, creating small circles on his way down. It was making goosebumps rise non-stop on my skin.I inhaled deeply again, savoring his scent as it went in my nostrils. He always smelled so good to me, but since we both accepted the matebond, his smell became better, and it was addicting.“Done?”I grasped on his shirt’s neck loosely as I looked up at him after a minute. His usually dark gazes looked sparkling as they watched me. His lips were still shiny from our activity.“You want more?” It was supposedly a rhetorical question, one that we both should agree that we needed to stop, but Titus had other plans.“Definitely. You’re addicting.”He once again leaned in and devoured my lips before I could protest. As if we haven’t been doing this for half an hour now. Or maybe it has been an hour. I don’t really know

“But now you have me,” I said when I felt how that weighed him down.“You must really have done something good for you to break that curse. I know you did.” He just looked at me while still holding my hand. I shrugged. “I mean, I might not look much as a curse-breaker—because for sure this is going down in history as a first—but still, you got a mate. An Andreyev lycan king, having his mate after many generations.”That brought a smile on his face, which made me also smile back at him.“You’re a curse-breaker material,” he said and pulled my hand up for a kiss. “You’re everything I want in a curse-breaker.” I rolled my eyes at him despite the butterflies that flew around my stomach.“Yeah, yeah. One you didn’t want to do with anything at first. I could still remember the way you threatened me that day!” He laughed at my accusatory tone.I raised a brow at him. “But look at you now.” His smile just broadened at my teasing. I let him pull me closer to him and give me a peck.As much a

My heart jumped for a second. I waited for them to confront me, seeing how they were still looking. They were the same people I saw watching me as I talked with Nathan from time to time during breaks.I stayed there standing, waiting. But they suddenly walked away, whispering at each other as they went.I stood there for a while, not knowing how else to react to that.Did they really just see me and Titus? Had they seen everything? Are we going to let everyone know we’re mates?I put my palm on my forehead and closed my eyes for a while. Should I even be worried about this? Does Titus want people to know now? What about Lana?Heaving a deep breath, I put my hand down on my side and just chose to walk back to my house and lock the doors.I finished and started walking towards the quarters. The sky was getting darker by the second. I bet everyone is preparing for dinner now.Deciding to hurry away, I jogged my way, my mind going back and forth between my conversation with Titus and th

“Line up!”Almost everyone moved at the same time when Zen commanded that. I heaved a heavy breath. We had just finished a session and a mere 5-minute break was given before the platoon leader was screaming commands again.I moved my eyes around in front, Titus nor Nathan still weren't present. They had been gone since yesterday evening, and I wonder what has happened in that rogue chase. So far, no news–bad or good–has been given to us. And I hope that’s a sign that everything is alright. The murmurs that suddenly rang around the place took my attention. I looked around and saw that the trainees with me were now looking out in front as if something new or intriguing was occurring.I turned my eyes towards in front again, and I saw that Lana Wintour was approaching. I realized then that the murmurs and whispers were all praises of how good and graceful she looked. She wore a white dress and heels despite our set-up on the training grounds. That didn’t bother the people, though, as sh

“There!” Julian pointed at a tree in the rice field and we all saw a dummy hanging by its hands. We all immediately stayed alert as we all knew now that there will be people attacking us. And attack us, they sure did.Like what happened earlier, Julian and Albert took the first lead in the fight while we all supported them. They took the dummy and passed it to us. I, then helped them defeat the now four warriors–it turned out they have another dummy with them on the other side of the huge tree—and we all ran away to reach their boundary, hearing Zen’s announcement with our success.“...15 victims to be rescued. 40 minutes until we finish.”“We’re leading!” We ran with enthusiasm at that fact. It was also hyping me up that the bugging thought about getting toward the void territory no longer bothered me at all.Besides, that tree was one of the markers of the end of Eden’s territory, yet a victim was put there.Making peace with myself with the thought, I followed through with my membe

“H-help…”I gasped and my frozen state crashed when I heard the man’s small croak. He could be Gerald or Albert! My feet had a mind on its own and it quickly went to the man sprawled bloody on the ground.“A-albert?” I asked, seeing how the man had closer resemblance with that squadron member.“H-help…please…” he croaked again with heavy breaths.I hesitated for a while when I realized he wasn’t Albert nor Gerald. But when I saw him reach a bloody hand towards me, my instinct to help immediately kicked in.“Sir, what happened?” I asked and walked to face him. His face was almost planted on the ground, but I could see the blood that came from his neck towards his chest. He also had splotches of blood on his face and mouth that I could see from where I was standing.“H-Help…t-they w-want…kill…” he coughed up blood. I stood back in shock but immediately crouched to make him turn around. “Wait, let me ask for help,” I said as I tried pushing him on his back so he could breathe properly.

He looked like he still wasn’t able to process what just happened to me. That I turned to my wolf form. But without wasting time, I leapt through the ground again and let Jia’s now larger paws smack the rogue down on the floor. He was still too preoccupied to move and I took that as an opportunity to sink my teeth into him.But the moment I did, I also felt a scratch on my back, and that familiar burning from the last time I encountered the same kind of rogue came back to my senses. Biting back a groan, I continued yanking at his side, making sure to finish this off no matter what happens. With his bloodied appearance, he might have already took out some people along his way. And I wouldn’t let him continue on. I won’t let him get further inside Eden. The marketplace is so nearby and a lot of children and old people s

It took months before Vamos was able to recover. The fire that had started in the storage area of the pack had gotten so big it ruined half of the woods behind it. It went to the villages, the Office Building and the Omega House. Thankfully, the last two structures weren’t completely devoured as our other packmates quickly managed to stop the fire while the fights continued on the grounds that night. With the Command I did—which I vaguely remember doing. I thought I was just wishing it to happen—some rogues indeed snapped out of the effects of the Freedom. They stopped fighting and realized what was happening. Most of them were our packmates that were bitten and have turned. Still the effect of my Command, some did fight their heads, and most ran to follow Benjamin’s scent as he tried to escape. His body was then found by the Kingsguards who went to some rounds all around the pack vicinity. He was almost at the edge of Vamos, going to the human community, but the rogues were able

“Please! Wake up!” I screamed as tears finally fell down on my cheeks. “Titus, please! Wake up!” I cried and held his cheeks. His eyes were closed, and blood was all over his face. And I could see how battered he was. His lip was cut, his nose was shattered and his right brow was cut. But I know he’s still there. I may not hear him, nor feel his presence, but I know he’s still there. He has to be. “Sabrina, he’s been bitten too many times. He will change—“”We have a cure!” I looked up at him and immediately remembered that I left Lana and Nathan inside the clinic. “Lana and Nathan have the cure! Get to them and make them come here!”But Sebastian continued looking at me sadly. Maddie was already crying beside him as she clutched on his arm. I looked at all the others who were around us: the Councilmen, Edwin, the Kingsguards, even Miranda who remained strong and alive along with our packmates who survived.Anger boiled in my chest when all I could see were sadness and defeat in

Chaos continued on the pack of Vamos. But my eyes were trained towards my mate. Benjamin had shifted on his dirty, black and brown wolf who was buff but smaller than Dmitri. I knew that he was in no shape to fight the Alpha King. Titus was vicious, and I saw how just like me, he was just holding back earlier. “Ahhhh!” I turned and saw the scarred lycan as he held his spear in hand, ready to attack me. I jumped in the air and kicked another rogue for traction as I flipped in the air. With my jaw prepared to get his head, my back paws kicked the spear down and closed my jaw on his shoulders, making him scream. Blood boiling, I bit harder on his shoulder even when his blood had coated my nose and chin already. But I didn’t care. I wanted him gone forever. He has always been a pawn. Many lives were wasted, ruined and lost because of him. I yelped when even with immense pain, he managed to slash my side with another spear he suddenly grabbed from the rogue who passed by. I flew back

I walked towards the grounds where almost all the fights stopped at the emergence of the new group. For a moment, everything seemed to have frozen as my mind filled with rage for the man who ruined my life. Those pitch black eyes suddenly found mine, and a grin immediately plastered on his scarred face. “Ah, Sabrina. It’s so nice to see that you are okay.””Bastard,” I seethed. He just smirked. “I’m going to kill you.”His smirk turned into a grin as he positioned. “Try me.”I lunged at him, shifting mid-air and abandoning all thoughts of not causing permanent harm to anyone. This man deserved all the harm anyone could cause him after all the evil things he has done. I was about to bite his head off when he suddenly brought up a spear which he used to cover his face. My jaw clenched on the metal weapon, and with my grip still on it, he threw his arm out, making my body fly in the air. I landed on my paws, finding my balance. The bastard didn’t expect how quick I was when with ano

Screams echoed all around the pack as a huge explosion shook the ground once again.I stood up and took the two bags filled with needles I managed to already put tranquilizers on and ran towards the window. My eyes widened when I saw how huge the fire had gotten in the forest. And it was now crawling towards the Omega House and the villages, where the explosion happened. “No…” I breathed out and quickly ran back down. I fought against the rogues I came across. I immediately noticed how their numbers have doubled in just a couple of minutes. I was surrounded by five or six people, but with the tranquilizers I have in hand, I managed to push down two within just a minute. ‘Sabrina!’ Someone screamed but I couldn’t look where it was as I struggled at the neck lock that I was caged in. Taking another needle from the lab gown’s side, I injected it to him and stabbed the other one who attacked me. I pushed out the liquid to his skin. But before I could attack the last one in front of

‘We’re almost there!’ Nate and I’s paws pounded on the ground, but a rogue suddenly appeared behind the shadows, making me stop for a while. ‘Rina!’ I backed away as Nate took on the rogue. I let him, knowing he was far stronger. And I could sense how eager and suddenly fired up Nate was. It's just like me, the compulsion we heard from our king about killing an infected wolf was making us want to do it more. The rogue went down and we quickly made our way towards the entrance of the dungeon that we could now see. Thankfully, there was still no one there that could possibly stop us. ‘Let’s run faster, before anyone gets here.’We both sped up, knowing the possibility was there. Our paws made loud noises as soon as we entered the quiet cave of the dungeon. The cave’s width and height accommodated us as we both entered the prison where Lana Wintour was.”Nathan,” Lana called as soon as she recognized Nate’s wolf. Nate didn’t say anything but I saw something flash in his eyes.I tur

‘Go, Maddie and I will continue helping the rescue. We can’t abandon this or everyone will be turned.’ Edwin told us. ‘Go, Rina. Only you two can stop this.’ Maddie added. ‘Let’s go.’ Nate and I started running in the opposite direction. We were now running towards the pack grounds where most of the fights were happening. Lana told me she was studying my blood samples for something else. I could only hope she was studying them for a cure. And that that cure is already available now. If it is, I don’t know yet how we are going to spread that to the infected. But first, we have to make sure we have a cure for this.’She has the cure?’ Nate asked amidst another fight we were having. We were teaming up now to make things quick. Nate is a very skilled fighter and is very strong, he could make the enemies fall down in a matter of a few seconds. His wolf’s jaw was so strong he could rip anyone apart. I’ll have to thank him for even being here. He’s an Alpha in a different pack. And yet,

Being bigger and heavier than her, I immediately locked her on the ground. She barked at my face, and I was once again surprised at how strong they were. I was fighting a half turned young wolf. She’s a teenager, and yet she’s almost as strong as the trained Warriors I have fought. I could see that they are unlike the rogues I have encountered before. They were not mindless. They know what they’re doing, but their minds are twisted with the Freedom’s ideology. And the dark protruding veins around their body wasn’t as huge. They were smaller now, but they crawled at a wider scope like webs in their body.“We will defeat you! This kingdom is ours—“I cut off her screams and bit off her neck when she tried getting away. I heard a crack and pulled back, just leaving her unconscious as I processed everything that was happening. They indeed have perfected the Freedom. The turned wolves are more coherent and mindful—but manipulated according to their liking. Benjamin has infiltrated the p

As soon as I was able to properly stand up, the soldiers started attacking. Loud screams and groans echoed around the grounds as Titus and Sebastian moved like lightning. I barely had anyone attacking me when the rest of the Warriors came in to back us up. I didn’t know there were this many that had gotten the injection. There were basically more than fifty of them. And they were moving unexpectedly faster, their attacks stronger. I huffed when someone was able to approach me with a swing on his heavy fist. I fortunately evaded it and it landed on the nearest tree on my back which had my eyes widen. The tree bark just shattered, making the tree shake. It could have been my face.I faced the Warrior rogue and saw his pitch black, sparkling eyes. “Ahh!”I quickly moved away before he could smash my face. He was unimaginably strong for someone who’s gotten half of his body burned. This was the effect of the perfected Freedom. They are going to be as strong as trained lycans. They wi
