Mia's Pov

Alpha Mathews wasn't improving, so Christian decided there was no point in staying. He had meetings with Dominic regarding matters of pack security and training the newly shifted wolves for the upcoming war to attend to. The mere thought of what lay ahead sent a shiver down my spine. The fear of losing any member of our pack gnawed at me. Victory was never without sacrifice; that much was certain. But I hoped fervently that this battle wouldn't demand too many.

Back at the pack house, I took a walk in the garden to clear my mind. The tranquil surroundings offered little solace. I was lost in my thoughts when Julia's panicked voice cut through the stillness.

"Mia!"

I turned quickly to see her rushing towards me, her face etched with worry and her breath coming in short gasps. "What is it?" I asked, my own anxiety rising at the sight of her distress.

"It's Ana! She..." Julia's voice trembled as she pointed towards the foyer. My heart skipped a beat at the mention of Anastasia
