MIA'S POV

I woke up to the soft rustle of leaves outside my window, the gentle whisper of the wind a soothing melody against the backdrop of the morning. As my eyelids fluttered open, I stretched languidly, relishing the comfort of my bed. But as my senses fully awakened, a sense of unease settled over me like a heavy blanket.

Christian was nowhere to be found.

I pushed aside the covers and swung my legs over the edge of the bed, the cold floor sending a shiver down my spine as I stood up.

The packhouse was unusually quiet as I made my way through the corridors, the usually bustling energy replaced by an eerie stillness. With each passing moment, my worry deepened, my heart hammering against my ribcage like a caged bird yearning for freedom.

The scent of freshly brewed coffee greeted me as I entered the kitchen, the aroma mingling with the faint hint of pancakes in the air. The cook, a sturdy woman with kind eyes, greeted me with a warm smile as she bustled about, preparing breakfast
