Isla's POV
I quivered under his piercing gaze, her heart pounding as fear intertwined with confusion. My voice trembled as I finally confessed, but not entirely, “I… I accidentally discovered I could transform.” The words hung in the air, heavy and uncertain.
Adrian's eyes darkened with frustration, his patience slipping away. "Lies! Still lies!"
“I am not lying to you, Adrian. You are just too consumed by your jealousy to see the truth,” I whispered, trying to avert his gaze, but my voice lacked the conviction I needed.
He didn't concede. Without warning, he cornered me, his grip firm yet not cruel. Tingles spiraled through my body, making my breath hitch. He towered over me, leaning closer. The shock of it left me breathless. But what came next made my body tense in ways I didn’t understand.
Adrian's breath brushed against my ear, sending goosebumps as I bit my lip. He chuckled, his voice low and possessive as he whispered, “Then you must know by now… I am your mate.”
His words struck me like a bolt of lightning. I felt an extreme pull tugging under my skin, tightening around my heart and soul like an iron chain. My body betrayed me, the mate bond surging through me, overwhelming my senses, almost maddening.
“Adrian, stop,” I breathed, breathing heavily. But the words came out weak. His name on my lips felt strange, felt like a confession to his question.
His teeth grazed the sensitive skin of my ear, sending a shockwave of pain and... pleasure. An unexpected wave of heat rushed through me, catching me off guard. My body betrayed my hesitation, responding to him despite the turmoil that churned inside my mind.
“Adrian...” I breathed, my voice barely above a whisper, my hesitation melting away.
His hands roamed over my body with an urgency that made my pulse quicken. He traced a path from my waist, upwards, until his fingers rested on my chest. He pressed on them slowly, making me pant, as I closed my eyes feeling flustered.
But the warmth of his palms seeped through the thin fabric of my shirt, igniting a fire that threatened to consume me. He chuckled, satisfied with my reaction before moving his mouth moved to my neck, lips brushing against my skin. And without any warning, his teeth sank in just enough to send sparks through my nerves.
"Aah!" A gasp escaped my lips as the pain gave way to a burning desire that I couldn’t control.
My body instinctively arched toward him, the force of the mate bond overwhelming every logical thought I had left. It was as if my resistance was slipping away with every caress, every touch... I couldn’t fight it anymore. The bond tugged at something deep inside me, pushing me closer to him, urging me to give in to the undeniable connection between us.
“Isla,” he said my name in a husky deep baritone voice, making me whimper. “You don’t understand what you are doing to me now.”
Maybe I did. Because I was feeling something overwhelming, beyond my control for Adrian as well.
Adrian’s breath was ragged as his deft hands moved more urgently, sliding under the hem of the shirt clinging to my body.
"Don't!" I whispered, not really stopping him.
His gaze locked onto mine, intense and hungry to devour me. “You are mine, Isla,” he growled, his voice rough and commanding. “Only mine.”
My heart pounded against my chest, the weight of his words sinking into me. I bit my lips, not finding the right words to speak or bring myself to protest. I was drawn to him in a way I couldn’t explain. There was no room for hesitation now.
The shirt lifted off in one swift movement, leaving me vulnerable. I shivered, not because of the cool night air brushing against my exposed body. It was because of his lustful gaze echoing his possessiveness, scanning every inch of my skin, illuminated by the faint moonlight passing through the window.
“Oh!... Adrian,” I whimpered, wanting more.
He knew it too. His hands gripped me tighter, and his mouth found the sensitive spot on my neck, where the mate bond pulsed the strongest.
"Urgh!" I moaned, unable to hold back anymore. I pulled him closer, needing more of him, needing to feel every inch of him.
The tension flared between us, palpable and electric as sparks flew everywhere. Fireworks erupted inside my heart and my stomach flip-flopped, making it impossible to focus on anything but him. And the way he looked at me made my heart flutter.
“You are beautiful,” he whispered, his lips brushing my ear, sending tingles racing down my spine.
I gulped hard, wanting to tell him how attracted I was to him, to tell him how handsome he looked when he smiled... when he looked at me with those loving eyes... but I was lost in them, lost in the moment.
Adrian’s hands explored freely, sliding over my every curve and hollow, his fingers exploring every inch of me with admiration. He moved slowly, almost deliberately, as if savoring the moment. I gasped at the sensation, the intimacy of it sending a rush of warmth through me.
It felt like he was mapping out every part of me, claiming me as his. And the thought alone made me thrilled and terrified. The tension between us mounted, thick and heady, like an invisible force pushing us toward the inevitable.
“Adrian…” I gasped, my voice barely a whisper as I reached for him, needing to feel him closer.
He groaned softly, his lips brushing against my ear again. “God! What are you doing to me, Isla,” he groaned, his voice thick with desire. “I will never let you go.”
The words sent a rush of heat through me, and I found myself leaning into him. My fingers threaded through his hair as I pulled him closer.
"Isla!" He groaned, looking at me with intensity. His eyes darkened as they lowered towards my lips. I gulped hard, as I looked into his supple, inviting ones. This time, I too, wanted to kiss him.
I leaned closer, closing the gap between our lips. And in a sudden movement, he pushed me closer, his hand around my neck. He kissed me deeply, his lips pressing against mine with a passion that took my breath away. I could feel the strength of his emotions in every kiss, every touch. And in that moment, whatever differences we had between us vanished as I kissed him back.
We were no longer just Isla and Adrian. We were mates, bound by something far greater than either of us could resist.
Isla’s POVI pressed my palm over my face, avoiding the sun's rays, shifting slightly on the rough floor of the cabin. I woke up in a daze, rubbing my eyes. I realized I wasn't in my room. I blinked, my heart racing as the memories of last night crashed over me. I blushed, feeling flustered."What have I done?" I contemplated in my mind, gulping hard, covering myself with the thin tattered shirt lying next to me.Adrian’s bite still tingled in my ear. The mate bond had taken over, pulling us together despite everything. I looked around and saw his tall frame leaning against the cabin door, his back to me, rigid and distant. Any warmth that the bond might have brought was quickly snuffed out when I saw his denial and frustration. The silence was deafening, making me even more nervous. I opened my mouth, but I couldn't quite figure out what to say. But before I could formulate any sentence, his cold, emotionless voice cut through the silence.“I won’t publicly acknowledge you as my mate
Adrian’s POVI couldn’t tear my eyes away from her.I kept telling myself that my desire was just a sick twist of fate. I only wanted her because she reminded me of my lost love, my Elara. But seeing her with Lucas, seeing how easily she trusted him, brought out something darker inside me. She wasn’t supposed to look at anyone else like that. She was supposed to be mine. Only mine. And last night? Last night changed everything for me.The night had taken on a life of its own. One moment, I had control. I had convinced myself that she was nothing more than a shadow of Elara. And the next moment, the mate bond had ripped that control away, leaving nothing but raw, undeniable need.Isla wasn’t Elara. And I knew it better than anyone else. The feelings I had for her were extreme and surreal, something I had never experienced before. And it was, in many ways, fulfilling. Because she was mine. The way her skin had felt against mine, how her soft gasps had matched my own... Damn it, it was m
Isla's POVI was on my way to the hospital when I passed by a flower shop. I looked outside and felt like getting a bouquet for Lucas. With this, my visit would look a little less selfish. As soon as I stepped inside, I spotted a familiar figure near the back of the store. Chloe moved gracefully through the shop. But before I could call out to her, she moved upstairs."Chlo…" I was about to follow when the shop owner appeared beside me with a warm smile.“The lovely young lady looking for something special today?" she asked, a little too generously. I wasn't used to being addressed like that.I hesitated, glancing toward the staircase where Chloe had vanished. “Just a bouquet of... carnations?" I replied, still distracted. “That was Chloe right? Does she live here? I saw her go upstairs."The shopkeeper’s smile widened, her eyes radiating with warmth and love. "Oh, yes. Chloe is my daughter.""We are classmates," I explained, though it felt odd saying that when I realized how little I
Adrian's POVI sat in my room in the pack house, trying to find some lead. Betty's was now the second death in the pack in such a short span. I compared all the evidence from Elara and Betty's cases, trying to find out some connection. Only one thing stood out clearly. Mandrake. That poisonous plant had been found at both crime scenes, its presence too deliberate to be a coincidence.I decided to send out an order to investigate the local flower shops for anyone purchasing Mandrake. Just then, a knock interrupted my thoughts. The girl who was sitting beside Isla in the healing and recovery class entered, her expression tight with urgency.I waved her in.“I am Chloe. Isla's friend. I need to talk to you, Alpha,” she said, her voice firm but laced with tension. My wolf stirred inside me restlessly at Isla's name. But I tried to maintain the indifference. I gestured for her to sit. But without wasting time on formalities, she jumped straight to the topic.“Isla told me about the mandrak
Isla's POVAfter a heavy discussion about the herbs and the murders and learning more about both the herbs from Lucas, I knew Nightspire Bloom wouldn't be easy to investigate. But Mandrake... that was the center of it all. Well, that should be our primary focus."Mandrake. Let's start by finding out who has been buying these secretly. Maybe then, we can have our answers..." I sighed. He gave me a small, tired smile. "Just... be careful. You know how dangerous this can be. Whoever is behind this seems to have their eyes on you now."I nodded, knowing the weight of the situation. Honestly, if I hadn't been dragged into this situation, perhaps I would have stayed in the corner like always. But now, I had to go to the bottom of all of this to clear my name. That's when my eyes darted outside the window, and I realized I had been there for a while now.I stood up, feeling a little uneasy. "I will visit again soon. And I will update you on everything. Just focus on recovering."I was about
Isla's POV"Stop! What are you doing?" I glared at Adrian, my heart racing. There was no way I was letting him take Stefan.I looked at Stefan, slightly nodding at him. I didn't need words to tell him that I had his back. He was tied up, panic etched across his face.Adrian came across, now taking the cuff in his hand, seething with fury.“Get your hands off him!” I shouted, my voice trembling. Adrian didn’t even glance my way, his gaze locked onto Stefan as if he were prey.“Enough!” Adrian’s voice sliced through the air like a knife. “We have evidence. He is the one who bought the mandrake. He’s behind all of it, the murders, Isla. Your sister’s death.”I shook my head, the words hitting me like a wave. For a second, I was baffled, unable to formulate any words. How could Stefan have anything to do with Mandrake? Why would he ever hurt Elara? This didn’t add up at all. I knew Stefan. I know he wasn’t capable of something like this.So when Adrian dragged Stefan, my walls were up.St
"Fine," Adrian spat. "Then you can go to prison with him."Isla's POVI scoffed, feeling hurt, despite knowing very well he didn't care about anyone except Elara. He didn't even flinch when he said that, his eyes looking at me with fury. But he had no idea when I offered to go to jail, it wasn't out of some naive impulse. It was because I knew him better than anyone. Stefan was not capable of anything so gruesome. But Stefan suddenly came in between us and shut me down so quickly I barely had time to process his words."Don’t," Stefan said, his voice tight, eyes burning with the weight of the situation. "You shouldn’t make a decision like that for me, especially when it has nothing to do with you.`"I clenched my fists, frustration bubbling inside me. "But it has everything to do with me! You’re my best friend, Stefan. I know you. You would never..." Stefan’s eyes softened for a second as if he was surprised. "Isla, you don't have to go to jail to help me..."Before I could respond,
Adrian's POVThe rumors spread like sickness, tainting every corner of the pack. Wherever I went, I could hear the whispers."Did you hear about Isla and Stefan?""What a pair of adulterers!""I always knew Isla had something to do with it.""Isla is probably just using Stefan." And the rumors only get murkier and more brutal. It made my blood boil. I couldn’t stop the jealousy that gnawed at me, either. Why Stefan? Why did she have to choose him? She was responsible for this ugly situation by doing this. But there was this part of me that felt a deeper rage. No matter how angry I was at her, no matter how confused I felt about her choices... Hearing those disgusting whispers about Isla was more than I could stand. A voice inside me kept nagging that she didn't deserve such hatred.I gritted my teeth as I stormed towards my office, my mind reeling, my heart restless.A message came through just then. My father, the Alpha, was coming for an update. Of course, word would have already r
