Millie’s POV

Caren walks into the sitting room, holding onto Lottie’s arm. They are both giggling. They both look so carefree, so happy. That is an image any mother would want to see. “Hey girls.” I say, walking over to them. “Hey mom,” they say together. “I love you both so much. You know that, right?”

“We know.” They both say at the same time. Lottie looked at Caren. Caren looked at Lottie. Then they both giggled. That’s when I spotted the bite mark on Caren’s neck. I grabbed her face and moved it to the side. Making sure my eyes are not deceiving me. They aren’t. She has been marked.

To find out what Reed did to my baby has filled me with rage. He is now trapped here with me. She must have seen my expression. “It’s okay, mom. We sorted out our issues.” Caren tells me. I nodded at her, knowing there would be no ‘further issues’. He needs to know that if he messes with my daughter, he will also be messing with me.
