Chapter 6

Melissa's Pov

FDOS-09-2008

"Lissa! Your gonna be late for the first day of school"

"Hurry up!"

OMG! It's the month! It's the day! It's morning! And most importantly, it's time!

The day I have been waiting for.

Summer wasn't so bad after all. I got to know the city better.

I always felt that a private school would soothe me better but my mum doesn't have money to pay.

We aren't poor but that doesn't make us rich either.

I have always dream't of living like the Thompson's. Their life is so perfect. Especially Steve.

Not like I'm obsessed with him but he's just so perfect what else could he wish for...

I came back to realization when I heard my alarm ring. I looked at my phone only to see it was 7:51am.

I had to set five alarms just to make sure I woke up but surprisingly I didn't wake up.

Actually, I knew I won't wake up. I always over slept. I just set the alarm to fulfill all righteousness.

"Lissa!!!!!" Mum screamed

"The bus is here! Barbie's already done"

"I'm through mum!" I yelled back.

I rushed downstairs as fast as I could. I couldn't afford to miss the bus on the first day of school.

I rushed to the kitchen, took my lunch and headed for the bus.

"You skipped breakfast" mum spoke.

"Yeah, sorry!" I responded.

Few minutes later, we got to school. Everybody came down from the bus and started for the school.

I was sluggish about the whole school idea until I heard a familiar voice.

"Come on Lissa. I'll walk you to class" Barbie said. Barbie saved my life. She was literally the only one I knew in the whole school. Actually I knew Steve too but I don't think he remembers me.

After the dinner, I never actually went to their house again. I saw his parents a couple of times but I never saw him.

I had English and Spanish before lunch. They were pretty interesting but I felt really ashamed when I couldn't introduce my self in Spanish.

Don't blame me, I never listened in Spanish class. It was always boring. I felt people laughing at me today but who cares. Actually I cared. I almost cried. Our Spanish teacher Miss Díaz told me not to worry but I was damn worried. I might be the talk of the Town.

During lunch, I went over to pick my food and then the worst happened. It was almost as if today was cursed. First day of school is #the worst day of your life.

It happened that there wasn't any free table in the cafeteria. The only free table was down the room meaning I had to pass lots of tables to get there.

As usual I was shy and quiet so I tried snicking through the tables not conscious of my enemies.

I walked passed three tables before getting to the HS girls table. They seemed nice at first all smiling and waving at me.

I was about to pass their table but I was tripped by a very slender girl. She had blond hair with brown eyes. She wore some designer clothes and shoes. She was so attractive.

My food flew up and fell right on my head. I heard everybody laugh so loud. Some pulled out their phones to take a video and a picture.

The slender girl also started laughing then she called me a "Floor bugger" which made everyone laugh more.

I got so angry that I pulled some pasta from my head and shoved it right at her face. I bet she didn't expect it cause her mouth was wide open when I did it.

I decided to add more spice by pouring my milk on her head then I asked her "How do you like your new face mask?"

That's when I saw everyone's shocked faces. Then I heard some side talks like

"You messed with the wrong person"

Then another said "Bad ass!"

A few others criticized me but I didn't care. She did it first.

The principal came and sent us to his office. The slender girl started to cry and falsely accused me.

She said she was trying to offer me a seat but then I tripped, got angry and shoved the pasta at her face.

The principal asked for my opinion then he gave the both of us a week detention. He said he didn't know who was wrong or right and he needed both of us to act more mature.

He dismissed us when he finished his long speech. By then lunch was almost over. I couldn't even go back to the cafeteria. The humiliation was much. I decided to go to the bathroom room and clean up but the slender girl stopped me. She told me something that gave me goosebumps.

She said "Be ready to finish what you started" then she rolled her eyes at me before leaving.

I continued my journey to the ladies room. As I got inside I saw a girl come in to. I was so ashamed that I looked down while washing my hands.

"You did the right thing" she said

"Huh?" I asked. Not sure if I heard her properly.

"Bethany deserves that. She's so rude"

"Thanks" I really appreciated what she said. At least I wasn't considered silly.

"Let me help you wash up" she requested.

"No! Don't bother. I don't want to stress you"

"I insist. You can't get all this stains out alone" she was right. I couldn't get all those stains out except I was a machine or something.

"Okay. If you insist" then she came over to help me.

"Yeah" she said.

I'm so happy she insisted. Now I have a new friend or maybe a first friend. Yay! Who knew California 'Los Angeles' would be so nice.

It took us about 15 minutes to finish. By then she had already told me her name, age, class and hobby. We really talked a lot. She was so nice but she seemed lonely.

Charlie, my new friend offered to take me home. Charlie had a black Mercedes Benz. She seemed simple by looks so I didn't know she'll have such a car. I felt she wouldn't have such a fancy car. Look at me, I don't even have one.

As soon as I got home, I went straight to bed not bothered to answer any questions asked by my mum. I'm sure Barbie got home with the bus cause I saw her on my way up.
