ALARIC’S POV

They say love hurts. But it isn't the love that hurts; it is the one we love. The thought of them letting go so easily and walking out on you as though you were never there.

My eyes are glued to the screen of my laptop, and I am seated in my office, but all I can think about is her. The company’s resources were drowning, and a part of me wondered if it was all my fault. I had spent my time attending to her, after all.

Dragging in a breath, I ran my fingers through my hair and eventually pushed the laptop aside to go through the papers with me. My eyes widened in realisation. Father had approved many investments without my thoughts, and most of them had flopped—almost all of them.

Fuck!

The company was struggling before his bad decisions. I picked up my landline and dialled Henry, telling him to come up, and he was walking through my door in minutes.

“I saw the investments. What was that about?” I threw forth, hoping for a better explanation.

“Your Father wanted us to….”

ALARIC’S POVGetting into the building was easy, and luckily, I saw Isabella sitting in the corner of my left hand. She was dressed in a red gown that clung to her white smooth skin like a second flesh. Her waist was snatched, and the dress stopped right above her kneecap. I drooled over her cleavage, deep, weak in the knee. She had a white pearl necklace on alongside white heels. Her legs were put together and slightly bent to the side before a chair leg. She looked so sophisticated. Her brown hair was beautifully rolled up, with none falling below her neck. She had slight makeup on, with her lips painted red.I was confused between going to meet her there and causing a diversion from the auction or signalling her to come over. But the Isa I knew was too stubborn to come over, so I went instead.“We need to talk,” I whispered, watching her give me a death stare. “Leave, Alaric. I’m busy.” She muttered between clenched teeth, then looked away.“If you could just give me a moment. Yo

ALARIC’S POVWhen I had informed her of us going skating, her eyes lit up in delight. But now that we were standing here with skates strapped beneath our feet, I was starting to rethink that decision. Even with the knee pads, ankle pads and helmets, my heart was still pounding so fast. I have never skated, and the multiple online videos I watched all night did nothing to help.“Are you ready?” I asked, a part of me hoping she would chicken out and insist on leaving so I wouldn't be the sacred one. But instead, she nodded.I watched her get onto the ice, pulling me with her, and my heart started to race. Never had it occurred to me that I could be scared of ice. It's just ice. I have gone through so much more, so something like this shouldn't break me.A bead of sweat broke behind my neck. As much as I wanted to tell her how I felt, she was smiling brightly and without worries. I didn't want to ruin that. I watched her move one foot, then another gently, and I followed suit, but my

It looked oversized on me, and he wore a Black turtleneck long-sleeved shirt and Black pants.“If you think I will fuck my wife in a place other people can access, then you don’t know me, Isa.” I heard him say, and my heart flipped, not because of his words but because his eyes darkened with mischief. What was he up to?I felt his hand work its way through my jean trouser to grab my left butt cheek and squeeze it, and I let out a gasp. His other hand was grabbing my hair.“You look pretty when you are wet. Especially with no clothes on.” The way he said the words so slowly drove me insane, and I parted my lips because I was now finding it hard to bre

ISABELLA’S POVHave you ever felt lighter when you are with a particular person? When they effortlessly make you smile, your once-dimmed sparks start to shine again when they seem to know the right thing to say and do at the right time, as though your souls are one. The sun's reflection danced across the room, and I pulled my heavy eyes with a yawn. My body felt so sore, yet a part of me felt fulfilled. My grey eyes met with his warm blue eyes that lit up when he sent me a smile. His hair was rough from last night, and he had nothing on but a pair of white condom boxers. My eyes trailed over the size of his cock and how huge it was.“It’s a size 7. Good morning, wife.” His voice sliced through the silent air, and I bit my lower lip in embarrassment at being caught. He leaned in to gently kiss my lips, then whispered. “Last night was incredible.”I nodded, more shyness seeping in. I was naked, too, under this sheet, and somehow, seeing him looking this hot triggered the horny bitch i

Two logistics trunks were outside with ten workers waiting, but I knew I had to pick out my stuff myself. I wouldn't want to lose anything or take with me something I didn't find valuable. I knew I had just a few things here due to the constant sleepovers.I was rummaging through the bathroom, packing my hair products when one of them fell and rolled to a corner. I let out a sigh, bent to take it, and instantly saw the slightly open drawer. Something blue was sitting in it. Out of curiosity, I pulled it open to see a nylon of blue pills. My heart skipped a beat. Was Alaric doing drugs? My hand shook out of fear at realising how that could change everything. I knew I had to find out.“Babe, are you done?” I heard him say. I didn't hear him walk in and quickly put it behind my back. My eyes widened as I made eye contact with him. “You good?” I let out a dry laugh. “Definitely. I’m almost do

ISABELLA’S POVI strode around the house, taking in every beautiful art lined up the hallway. Every stroke was detailed; I hummed as a smile graced my lips. We had a few unpacking tasks, and Alaric had left for work, so I had just a few sightseeing tasks before making a dish for us. It would feel so good to cook in this exquisite kitchen. I followed the path that led to the room, visiting each. There were ten rooms, but one was the biggest, which I presumed to be the Main bedroom. Living in a huge house gave me a sense of freedom. My phone vibrated against my jeans pocket, and I pulled it out to stare at the Doctor’s number. The same man who had saved my life the day I got into that accident and lost my baby.Weird how he didn't judge me when I informed him I was now back with Alaric after he noticed the ring on my finger.“If it makes you happy, child.” He had said.I knew he had to be the right one to tell me what drug it was. Luckily, Alaric had an important business to attend to,

ISABELLA’S POVThe drive back home was strangely relaxing, possibly because of my stress. Did I find this fun? Yes. Would I repeat it? No.Alaric’s face also showed fatigue, and all I wanted was to go home to a hot meal and a warm bath.Suddenly, I heard our car screech as a car swerved right in front of us, causing Alaric and me to bounce forward. A black Benz car was now sitting in front of us, unmoving. The owner didn't seem bothered enough to get down. I could feel my heart pounding so fast as the memory of the night I had lost my baby flashed through my mind.“Are you hurt?” Alaric asked, searching my face and body, and I shook my head in response.I watched him grit his teeth before storming out of the car to knock on the window. I don’t know what transfixed, but he stood like that for about a minute or two, and by the time he got back into the car, his expression had changed, and he wasn't saying anything. He drove around the car, whose tinted glasses were wound up, so I could

The past couple of days had been so hard, from trying not to think about him or our past to having dreams that entailed him. Dreams that even the paintings I spent nights on to cope with it couldn’t stop them. For weeks, I had awaited his arrival. I desperately wished that he would run across the surface of the earth just to see me. But now that it happened, I realized how much rage I felt towards him. How much pain he wouldn’t stop causing me, and I started to wonder if this was worth it in the end. This wound kept being peeled open because I refused to stop loving a man who made me question my worth. He could have come sooner, but he didn't. He could have stepped out that day to save me from Elena, but he didn't. He had the chance to clear the engagement rumor but stayed put. He could have stopped me from signing the divorce

ALARIC’S POVAfter we settled down and placed orders, I noticed Mother’s eyes lighting up as she looked around the room.“Ever being here?” She shook her head. “Always wanted to come with Ethan.” Her smile slowly disappeared. That was my father’s name. And as much as I wanted to ask her why she stayed, I didn’t want to ruin the moment. Our orders were served, and a few spoons were put into it. A voice spoke from behind, and my mother’s eyes shot up like fireworks were set off.“Uncle,” I said, slicing through the tension in the air. He cleared his throat and then looked at me.“May I?” He pointed to the spare chair.Something seemed off. Very off. But I nodded.“I didn’t think you would be here.” He pointed out. I noticed Mother’s eyes were barely leaving him, and now and then, her cheeks would turn red. My father’s brother? Could there be something between them?“I had to take Mom out,” I informed him. He nodded and slowly turned towards her as though he were conscious.“The color

ALARIC’S POVI didn’t notice my missing mother until the maid knocked on my door to inform me. I frowned as I paced the room, dialing her number repeatedly, but it wasn’t connecting. “Switched off.” I frowned, tossing my phone on the couch. What was she up to now?I dialed the number I had vowed never to dial, and after the third attempt, he finally picked up.“What?” He sounded uninterested.“Is Mother there?” There was a brief silence, and I could hear Chris chatting in the background. These were having family moments that he didn't ever have with me. My heart ached a little, and someday, I would love to ask him why he despised me so much. Why did he marry her when he knew he would forever hate the sight of me?“Do I look like her nanny to you?” he bellowed, and I think it was on the loudspeaker because Chris chuckled underneath.“If you want to apologize to Father, just say so. You don't have to use this means. If you are sincere, I can beg Father to let you come work for us aga

She could feel her soul slowly dispersing. Every now and then, she could have sworn that someone was watching her. Maybe the grim reaper, and it was time she righted her wrongs and induced death early if it didn’t come as fast as it should. She was in pain every single day, her bones aching like they were melting under a fire. Living was demanding. She had gone through every person she could think of who knew Isabella closely but got nothing. Until now, she was standing in the middle of a bar five hours away from home. She had flown down to Navellyland, a small town that he had to be in. This information cost her a lot of money, but she was glad his company could help. Her eyes darted round the room to see him, but he was nowhere near there. Sighing, she headed to the bartender and requested water. “T

ALARIC’S POVFather was holding a meeting with the board, introducing his son with so much pride. Something he had never done when it came to me. The people had sent me questioning glances or maybe mockery. I could hear them saying the mighty Wolfe had fallen. The man who thought he knew it all.“I promise to do better than my brother here.” Chris shaded, and they smiled, nodding. I can see we have been having some financial crisis. Brother must have had a hard time handling it, but I have spent my life preparing for this.” He smiled at me.Why weren't they seeing this? This bratty side of him? They thought I was worse. He seemed like a terrible version of me. I guess he was the father’s true son, after all.“Please cooperate with him to grow this business some more,” Father announced, and Chris cleared his throat. He adjusted his blue suit alongside his shoulder pad before pushing several documents toward them. The logo looked familiar—very familiar—and then it dawned on me. It was o

She couldn't forget how she had laid there in tears as they erased the only evidence of Devan that she had. Was it weird that she had prayed never to wake up? When Father told her that he had found another potential man for her to marry and requested she go on a date with him, she nodded in agreement and retired to her room. She was still nursing her wound, but he didnt care. He seemed happier than ever. Chris and his family had cut off the engagement and withdrew from every project, advising their partners to do the same. They had announced it on TV and even paid the newspapers to carry the news because, according to them, it would dent their image. Elena didn't care anymore. All her obsession about marrying Alaric had evaporated. The only man she loved was gone after all. The only one who made living worth it. Her father had stor
