CHAPTER 24: FEAR

ALEXANDER POV

I paced back and forth in my office, the events of the morning playing over in my mind. Miss Gift had left the packhouse in anger, and her accusations against Laura were alarming. I couldn’t shake the image of her standing there, strong and determined, confronting Laura without hesitation. It made my heart pound with a mix of admiration and guilt. I knew I had to find out more about her, and more importantly, protect her.

I had other responsibilities to attend to first, though. There was a rogue on the loose who had killed the two she-wolves, and it was my duty as Alpha to ensure the safety of my pack. Steeling myself, I pushed thoughts of Gift to the back of my mind and focused on the task at hand.

I needed to work. I couldn't keep on thinking of her.

By the way, she she came into the pack, she had been making my life hard. Nowadays, it was hard for me to do anything apart from thinking about her.
