Not a bone on my body believed a thing she’d said.

There was no way on earth she wasn’t acting all that out. I couldn’t make sense of why she’d be acting when it was just her mom she was speaking to, but I just knew that she was faking it.

As long as I was concerned, Scarlett and her mom were two halves of a whole and they shared the same greedy views about marrying for money. But it was getting harder and harder to hold onto that perspective of mine when Scarlett had refused to marry Micheal just like the other day.

Maybe she was gunning for a bigger fish than him that could keep her generations wealthy rather than a person that could only assure her of comfort and not an entire bloodline. That definitely made sense.

Still, why has she been leading Micheal on by going on dates when she has no intention of marrying him? Why does she see the need to lie that she’s looking for love when she’s simply in search of deeper pockets while keeping her other options open?
