Ava couldn’t remember how long she had counted the design on the ceiling, she sighed and closed her eyes, she was hungry, pressed and really tired of staying in on position but the man who left her handicapped was still busy sleeping beside her. She opened her eyes and looked at him, he looked so peaceful sleeping, so different from what she had heard about him.
She can remember when her father told her how he had set up their casino on fire when he couldn’t find what he came for and after that had come after them to take it from him, her father had told her it was the toughest fight he had ever been in, one man fighting against many and still won in the end and left with his package. Her father had said that the last thing he would want to do was encounter the man again, he had said so many things about him, but now looking at him as he slept, he was nothing like the things her father had said, except when he opens his eyes.
She shuddered at the thought of his black eyes, that eyes scares her, so black, so devoid of any emotion, the eyes were just black and blank, you can never see anything through it and once again she remembered her father’s words about his eyes, “his eyes so black and blank that you can see nothing but your upcoming death.” she blinked away the thought, realizing that her father was just right, when he was looking at her that time in the closet, she had been terrified that she could only wipe away her fear by making empty threats.
She opened her eyes and looked at him again, perhaps he should never open his eyes, he is so much better to look at without those devilish eyes, she thought. She was going through her own minds when she noticed that a pair of black eyes were looking at her, she froze on the bed, watching him as he watched her, for the first time, she saw an emotion in his eyes: fear, and with the way he looked at her, she could see he was disorientated, like he doesn’t know where he was and what was happening.
She wanted to ask him if he was okay but she couldn’t speak out, she had forgotten he had taped her mouth, with her mumblings, he blinked thrice and when he looked at her again, his eyes were blank and cold as usual, making her to involuntarily shudder. He got up from the bed and reached for the wristwatch on the cabinet, he paused and ran his fingers through his black hair before looking at her once more and leaning over to remove the tape.
“Oh thank God,” she moaned, stretching her mouth to ease the numbness, he stood up and entered the bathroom, emerging later, he was wet with water beads dripping from his body. A towel on his slim waist and one drying his hair, Ava gulped staring at his body. He said nothing to her and just went to his phone, turned it on and entered the closet.
Ava blinked continuously to wipe away the image she just saw, damn, what the hell? She gulped and took the whole time he was dressing to process her thought. When he came out of the closet, he was like he was in the morning, dressed in black suit, black shoes and his hair combed and relaxed, “I’m hungry,” she said, “and I’m pressed, so maybe you would let me out of here to attend to myself or get me a bucket to pee in.”
He said nothing and left the room, “asshole,” she muttered and rolled her eyes at him. It wasn’t long he returned with a bucket and dropped it by the bed, “what the heck?” she asked, is he serious? She wondered.
“You asked for it,” he replied in the same soft sensual tone, “I merely complied.”
“I only said it, I didn’t mean for you to do it.”
“Listen, I hate disturbances.”
“Fine, how am I to pee being all tied up? Huh, answer Mr. Smart guy?”
He stared at her for a while and left without a look back. He walked into the living room and dialed a number in his phone, when the call connected, he said, “you order is ready, where is the pickup?”
“Wow, that is indeed great, I heard the news this morning. Drago is really vexed and is ready to do anything to get his daughter back,” the man replied.
“I care not, just tell me where I will make the delivery and collect the rest of my money,” he ordered.
“Fine, listen El Diablo, there is a small issue, I didn’t know you would deliver it on the sixth day so I’m not in the country, hold on to the package, you can deliver it to me tomorrow, I will send you the location.”
“The plan was deliver once I have the package,” he reminded, he didn’t like the request he made.
“No, the plan was deliver in a week, and tomorrow is the seventh day so I am not really tasking you anything. Just hold on to the package, I will pick it up when I’m back, I will like to pick it up myself.”
“Fine, have my money ready,” he said with a clenched teeth and hung up the call. He stared around the living room and waited to calm himself then went back to the bedroom when he was calmed.
Ava looked up at him when he entered, “finally, listen, if you don’t get me free from here, I am going to design this beautiful bed of yours with my urine, and trust me, I won’t be embarrassed.”
He rolled his eyes and went to her, untying her, she sat up on the bed and rubbed her wrist, “thank you,” she said sarcastically, “for tying me up for so many hours. For someone who claims to not sleep well, you sure know how to sleep for hours,” she rolled her eyes, rubbing her ankle before getting down from the bed.
“Eso es lo que me estoy preguntando, es el más largo que he dormido,” he frowned, “that's the thing I'm also wondering about, it's the longest I have ever slept.”
“What?” she turned to look at him.
He shook his head, “go do your business.”
“Whatever,” she rolled her eyes and went into the bathroom, she was surprised at how neat it was and quickly rushed to ease herself, after that, she looked around the bathroom, they must be a way to get out, hopefully the toilet won’t be as locked up as the rest of the house. She looked at the window and decided to give it a try with not much hope. She climbed on the toilet lid and pushed the window. Happiness surged through her when it opened and though it was small, she forced herself through it. She was hungry but she would never choose food over freedom. She fell from the window and hurt her elbow but it doesn’t matter, she was staring at the clear sky and the cool air of the early afternoon was so welcoming that she lay on the floor with her eyes closed, so this is how it feels? Freedom.
The thought that he would be expecting her to be done by now and might even come check on her made her stand up immediately, she looked around her, she was surrounded by trees and she wondered where she was actually and how to get to the nearest town. She started walking around the house; maybe she could find a pathway or something. When she came out to the front of the house, she was happy when she finally saw a road, she smiled and didn’t know what made her turn but when she did, she saw a pair of black eyes staring at her behind the glass. Her heart missed a beat but she woke up immediately and started running when she saw him dashing to the door.
The thought that he would still look for the keys to unlock the door gave her hope that she could outrun him so she took the road and started running as fast as her feet could carry her, hoping that she would see a cop or someone or even a house to run in to, or if possible, a phone booth so that she could call her father and tell him where to find her in case the devil of a man catch up to her.
But no matter how fast she ran or the distance, she saw no one, not a house or even a phone booth, nothing but trees, and unending road, she looked behind her to see him giving her a hot pursuit, the action gave her a déjà vu, he had chased her last night as well, only that it was in a dark hallway unlike now that it was in broad daylight and on the street. The faster she ran, the more she hoped she could see someone, just someone, anyone that would shield her from him. But she was hungry, and have been tied on a spot for hours and it wasn’t long, her strength was failing her, she was weak and she knew she was slowing, thereby giving him advantage to catch up to her, even though it seemed he was a better runner already.
Looking back again, he was already closing in on her and she could feel tears threatening to fall out, her vision was blurring, Oh God, she cried, the man might be handsome and hot but his reputation speaks for him and the last she wants was to be held captive by him. Just why is it there is no one here, no house? Who would choose to live in such isolated place? Of course, no one but him, only him, the devil.
She felt him before he even grabbed her and he turned her around but she refused to give in easily, using her last strength, she kneed him at his member and his hold on her loosened as he concentrated on his pain. She took the opportunity to run away again but she didn’t run for long for he grabbed her again. “Let go of me, let me go,” she screamed, hoping that someone might hear her, “help, help, somebody, anybody, help me please, please,” she continued shouting and struggling for him to release her.
“Save your strength, no one can hear you,” he ordered, “what nonsense do you think you are doing?”
“What else but trying to save myself from your evil clutches,” she shouted at him.
He glared at her, “listen to me, when I tell you to do something, you do it and for acting so stupidly, I am going to tie you up far longer than five hours this time, you are going to remain tied up till you will be delivered tomorrow.”
“Don’t you dare say delivered again like I am a package or parcel,” she warned.
“But that’s what you are dulce, you are a package,” he replied and carried her on his shoulder immediately, Sweet.
“No, let me go, let me go you beast, put me down,” she shouted, hitting him and remembering that she had done something like that earlier and it was of no use. After struggling and hitting him and was drained of all energy, she calmed down and allowed him to carry her. When they got to the house, he carried her to his bedroom and dropped her on the bed.
He stared at her, “you are lucky you are a package to be delivered, if not, I wouldn’t have bothered chasing after you, I would have just put a damn bullet in your head.”
“Well, you should have done just that, why did you bother to keep me alive,” she yelled.
He ignored her and picked his robe and started tying her up again, “I may not kill you but I will punish you, you won’t be having any meal till evening and also, you will be tied up here with a tape on your mouth and I will lock you in this room while closing the curtains and letting you dwell in the darkness.”
“Do you think I’m surprise? You are darkness yourself when you have a closet filled with black clothes, what other punishment can you give but leave someone in darkness?”
He smiled and taped her mouth, “that’s why they call me El Diablo, bebé,” he smiled and did just what he said, leaving the room in darkness and leaving. She heard the door click and couldn’t believe that he really did lock her up, he wants to make sure that she feels like she was really trapped in hell. Oh God, how much she hates him.
Ava heard the door click and knew he was finally coming to check on her after leaving her in the darkness for hours. She was weak, hungry and her wrists and ankles aches from being tied up, the door pushed open and the man standing in front of her was shrouded in the darkness and he made no move of turning on the light. He walked straight to her like he could find his way in the darkness; she heard him place something on the cabinet and then walked to the windows to draw the curtains. The light that sipped in blinded Ava for a while and she shut her eyes immediately and then opened it when the pain eased, from the window she could see it was sunset. So he kept to his words, he left her in the dark and starved her till evening. Remembering something, she glanced at the cabinet and seeing the plate of food, her mouth watered and her belly rumbled. She looked at the man in front of her with pleading in her eyes; he didn’t say anything and mainly approached her and untied h
“Am I wrong or am I right, El Diablo?” Drago asked, his men touching their guns on their waists, waiting for the order to strike. “I called you here, not only because I needed your help, but because I know you kidnapped my daughter, now, the only thing that would save your life, the only thing that would prevent my men from emptying their barrels on you is if you answer my questions.”The man with his back to him smiled softly, he started picturing the places he saw the men standing and it suddenly occurred to him that if he should bend his bullet, he would kill more than half of them. His hands were itching, twitching, he was getting impatient to get to the killing, the demon in him have been demanding for the blood spill and last night wasn’t enough, perhaps he is going to satiate the hunger now. His fingers touched the butt of his gun, ready to pull it out from the holster.“I just want to know who hired you to kidnap my princess
Ava waited for him to reply to her offer but he ignored her and continued with his task, she sighed and repeated, “let me help you.”“Sleep,” his voice was soft but also authoritative.Ava was annoyed by the tone he spoke to her with, “I was only offering to help.”“I didn’t ask for it,” he replied.“Of course,” she scoffed, looking at the ceiling in anger, “you leave me tied up all night and you returned with a bullet wound and with all the goodness in me, I am offering to help you treat your wound but no, you did not appreciate it, you talk as if you are the O’ God almighty, no one can talk to you, no one can help you. But you know what?” she glared at him, “you can die for all I care, at least it would free me from your clutches, so why don’t you just drop dead?”With all the things she was saying, the man beside her didn’t flinch or bothe
Ava drifted in and out of sleep all through the night, she was pressed, she really needs to use the bathroom but the devil beside her wouldn’t answer to her whenever she called to him. It surprises her how an assassin like him can sleep so deeply with no fear in the world that someone could sneak in and put a bullet in his head. It also leaves her wondering why he had mentioned that he was not a good sleeper yet he sleeps so well the two times he had slept beside her.She glared at him in annoyance, he had left the light on and it was also one of the reasons she was finding it hard to sleep. She had ended up wondering how a man who is so in love with the darkness could sleep with the light on. She shut her eyes with a sigh, wondering if morning would ever come as she drifted into sleep once more.Waking up again, her bladder was so full that she doubts if she could hold it anymore, glancing at the man still asleep beside her, she called to him, “excuse me,
Ava felt her heart missed series of beat as she stared at the man before her, his eyes were turning darker by each second that passes and his hand holding the gun to her didn’t waver. With every passing second, she could see the determination in his eyes and all that was remaining was for him to pull the fucking trigger and send her to hell just like he had said he would a while ago. She closed her eyes and opened them; she licked her chapped lips as she started counting the seconds till he pulls the trigger in her heart. She waited, believing that it was finally time for her to go see her mother and if possible her late boyfriends if she would be able to see them. She saw his sexy slender index finger move to the trigger and blinked as slowly as she could, if there was one thing she didn’t want to miss was to see when the bullet left the gun and take her life. She could feel her heartbeat slowing down by the seconds and she started calling to her mother to wait f
The car stopped in front of a club and Ava gulped, staring at the line of people in front of the door waiting to be allowed inside. The two bouncers checking their ID cards had no smiling face and their faces looked like they were handpicked from hell. She gulped once more and glanced at the man beside her, she wanted to ask so many things, but she knew he wouldn’t answer, he hadn’t answered to any of the questions she asked about her owner on their drive there. She watched him changed the car gear to park and turned off the engine.“Let’s go, we would wait for him inside,” he ordered.Ava sighed and nodded and he wasted no time in getting out of his seatbelt and the car, he walked around the car and in no time was before her own door. When he opened the door, Ava caught a glistening and looked at his hand to see the very same silver gun he had pointed at her that day and her heart missed a beat, she looked up at him immediately and his pi
El Diablo left no stone unturned as he searched for Ava around, ending the life of any of the shooter he came across, including those that were wounded. He knew he should leave the club and get into his car and give a hot pursuit to any car he suspects but he couldn’t help the feeling that she was still in the club somewhere and he was determined to find where. After searching through the private rooms and bumping into innocents club members hiding for safety, he ran his fingers through his black hair and got out a packet of bullets to refill his guns. A thought suddenly occurred to him and he marched straight to the lady’s restroom. He kicked the door open and there was a shrilling scream as he looked upon different frightened faces of women. He could see them trembling and their eyes going to the guns in his hands which he made no move of hiding. He ignored them and started kicking open the doors of each stall until finally, he caught a blue cloth sticking out from the end
Ava could feel the car slowing down and opened her eyes, she saw they were driving into the garage and sat up on her seat. She had fallen asleep along the way and she rubbed her eyes just as Lucian was parking the car. He got down without a look at her and she followed him. It was the first time she was entering the house with her own legs, the two times she had entered, he had carried her in. She watched him unlock the door and followed him into the living room.He shut the door after her and walked straight to the fireplace to turn it on, the night was chilly and it wasn’t helping if he was living in the outskirt of town and the night terms to be colder there. He started taking off his jacket while Ava just sat on the couch and watched him. While leaving the house earlier in the evening, she never thought she would step her foot back into it nor did she thought that yet again they would be spending the night again in the same house, the same bedroom and on the same be
Ava survived the shot and it was discovered that she was pregnant but she lost the baby. Lucian had gone to Nikolai’s carcass and emptied his barrels on him, wishing he could bring the man back to life only to kill him again.Ava had introduced him to Dolores when she came to visit her in the hospital and the poor woman had cried like she had never cried before. She also revealed to Lucian that she had come looking for him but they never let her see him. Even when he was in the hospital, they didn’t let her go in and check on him and she often sleeps outside the hospital, hoping they would allow her to see him one day.Lucian recalled when he woke up he had heard the nurses talking about a woman often sleeping outside the hospital. So, it had been her? He remembered when he asked his boss then if he could see his mother and he had said that why would he want to see the woman that left him and have never come to see him even though he was in the hospital. It
Lucian followed Drago to his private jet, he had called Antonio on the way to meet him in Philadelphia. As they boarded the jet, everyone gathered to draw out a plan for it needs to be carried out tonight. According to Lucian, he didn’t want Ava to spend another night in the clutches of Nikolai. After every plan has been made, everyone left to prepare themselves and Lucian occupied the window-seat, staring out to the midnight sky, wishing and praying Ava was safe and that she doesn’t give up on him or on him saving her.Someone cleared his throat and he looked up to see Drago. Drago sighed and removed his cowboy hat before sitting opposite him. “I heard you were pretty angry when you left and that Ava ran after you, shouting for you to wait but you didn’t. And that left me wondering, that was so unlike you and unlike the news I have been hearing of you of late.” He glanced at him, “what happened between you two, what did she do?&rdqu
“Lucian!” he heard a faint voice shouting his name, “Lucian, get up Lucian,” the voice continued but it was faint and his head was throbbing in pain. He groaned and wrapped his hands on his head to numb the pain. “Get up from there, Lucian, what are you, a woman?” the voice taunted and that forced him to open his eyes —despite the pain— to know who dares talks to him like that. His vision was blurry and he could see a blurred shape, he blinked to clear his vision and he watched as the blurred shape formed into Drago Moonstone’s face. He shut his eyes tightly and groaned once more.“Get up from there, Lucian,” Drago ordered again. It was at that time that Lucian wondered what he was doing there, or rather where he was. He opened his eyes again and glanced around, he was lying in the middle of what appears to be a road and Drago was kneeling beside him. “Where…where am I?” he aske
“Alejandro she is sorry, she is in pain. She needs you,” Ava cried when he turned to walk out of the room clutching onto his shirt.Lucian stopped by the door and snorted, “pain? What do you know as pain, Ava?” he turned to look at her, “when you are missing someone and they are not there? Or when you had to stand at your mother’s funeral?” he shook his head, “that is not pain; let me tell you what pain is. Pain is when you had an accident running after the woman you called mother, and all you heard in your consciousness was her telling you how sorry she was, something that haunts you every night because you woke up in the hospital hoping to see her but she was not there. Pain is when you had to live with unknown men who locked you up in a dark room filled with hungry mice who chew at your skin bit by bit all because you didn’t get something right. Pain is when you had to sit down at thirteen and let grown up women rape yo
The days in Panama were slowly climbing their way into Ava’s favorite days. She didn’t know what she loved the most, the fact that Lucian took her places and made sure she had fun or the fact that he joined her in everything she did. It was both romantic and peaceful and she didn’t want to leave. Lucian was opening more to her, gradually telling her about his childhood but always referred to his mother as her. They had only one more day to spend in Panama and Ava wants to introduce him to his mother when they get back to Las Vegas and to do that, she has to let him know that she lives in her house. And so, she decided to come clean with him today and if worse comes to comes, they would use the rest of tomorrow to make up before Antonio arrives on Monday. She walked to the balcony and watched Lucian having a swim in the glass pool, she smiled and leaned on the handrails, watching him and also thinking about how to start the conversation about his mother which
The flight to Panama was as smooth as it can be although Ava couldn’t watch through the windows as she did when going to Mexico because someone refused to let her leave his private room. As the jet landed, she was already staring at the window and giddy as a schoolgirl to start with her touring. “Alright cariño, lets go, trust me you will enjoy it better when you are out than staring through a window,” she heard Lucian behind her and turned, smiling to him.“I know I would,” she winked and went to the doors as Antonio opened it, she climbed down the stairs, loving the mistiness of the morning. She closed her eyes and twirled around, she had read about this place and had longed to come here, she couldn’t believe that finally she was going to have her dream come true and that she would end up visiting with the very man that made her want to visit the place.“Are you done circling or can we get into the car now?” Luci
Ava dropped the fork she was about to put in her mouth, her shock was not far from her expression, “what did you just to say?” she asked to be sure.“How would you feel going to Panama?” he repeated.“Like are you being serious right now?”“Very.”“Oh my God,” she screamed, placing her tray of food on the bed and jumping on him, not minding the clashing sound of his plate on the floor. She kissed him so deeply that Lucian felt his body responding to her immediately. “You better not be joking with me Lucian or I will put a bullet in your brains.”He chuckled and kissed her again, “I have a lot of things planned out for us. We can have fun running by the sea shore and tasting all the sea foods.”Ava smiled as she remembered he just quoted her two years ago at the hotel restaurant, “I think that would be really amazing.”“I’m glad
‘I am yours Ava, if you will have me,’ the words repeated in Ava’s mind as she stared at the sleeping man beside her. A smile graced her lips as she thought about it all, he has confessed to her in his own way. Though he didn’t end it with ‘I love you’ like other romantic books or some men would but his words was on par with the L word. He has literally sold himself to her, and of course she would have him, if she doesn’t then who else would she? This is something she has always wanted, something she often dreamed about and now finally, it’s happening. No wonder he was extra gentle this time, he booked a room for two lovers on a vacation and he filled the wardrobe with clothes for her. He gets sad when she yells at him and…she sighed, her hand slowly reaching out to wipe out a strand of hair from his face. He looked so peaceful at sleep, nothing like the dangerous man he is. He said he was not a regular man but w
If Antonio was holding a drink, Ava knew he must have dropped it with a clashing sound with the way he was staring at her now. “What did you just say?” he asked many seconds later.“You heard me Antonio,” she said.“Listen,” he grabbed her hand rather forcefully and Ava was surprised for it was actually the first time he had ever treated her like that. “And I mean listen to me carefully Ava, never in this life or the next if you ever want to live mention that name to Lucian’s hearing or even make him know that you have met her. Do you understand me? Ava, Lucian can forgive you of anything you do to him but never bring that woman’s memories to him, he loses it, in fact if you survive just by mentioning ‘your mother’ to him in a sentence then you are just pure lucky. Do you understand that? You have seen the way he behaves; he literally becomes his name at the mention of her name whether she was addressed
