Leaving Lucius behind felt like a curse and blessing at the same time. I needed to stay away for a little, but I also desperately wanted to stay near him.

I was hurt, but even despite that, I hated seeing pain flash in his eyes. I hated watching him break and drop to his knees, begging for forgiveness.

And even more, I hated how he forgot who he was. A King. No matter how much the remark might have hurt me, Lucius was our King and I wouldn’t forgive myself if he forgot that because of me.

But thankfully, he wasn’t alone. The old man was near, and I knew he would distract Lucius, or if worse came to happen, talk him out of doing something absolutely stupid.

“I think we need to find Eden,” Leo muttered as I wandered the forest.

“Sure thing, smartass, as soon as our all-mighty mate decides that telling the truth is better than keeping secrets. Don’t tell me you found a way to escape my body while we had that conversation with Lucius,” I snapped at him.
