Chapter 13

My sobs were the only sound that could be heard throughout the ceiling. I tried to control my tears, but they kept rolling down my face. Images of my little sister smiling and playing with me were breaking my heart.

Logan held me tightly, as if he were trying to keep my pieces together.

The pain was unbearable... I had never felt anything like this before. It was the first time I had allowed myself to feel the loss of my family, and it was devastating. I looked down, forcing the tears to fall straight into the air instead of rolling down my cheeks. Elise... her smile... How could she be gone? She was just a child... she couldn't have died; it had to be a nightmare.
