Chapter 2

Author: Meow White
Samuel and I were university mates. We began dating each other in our junior year. In fact, we were each other's first love.

After graduating from university, Samuel got into a bad fight with the boss of his department half a year after he started working. That was when he decided to quit his job and start his own company.

His parents had already gotten divorced and married other people when he was at a young age. So, they no longer cared about him once he became of age. He had to cover his tuition fees via study loans and working part-time jobs.

After Samuel quit his job and started his company, his family didn't offer him any financial support at all.

My heart ached for him back then, so I quit my job to help him out. I didn't know much about the technical stuff, so I did my best in other aspects to aid him.

Basically, I was in charge of the workers' daily meals, the archiving and organization of all documents, the recording of account balances, as well as other admin tasks. Every day, I was as busy as a bee.

In fact, my overexhaustion had led to me suffering from a miscarriage.

At that time, Samuel had knelt next to my bed. As he sobbed, he swore out loud, "Penny, I swear I'll definitely make a name for myself. I'll make you the happiest woman in the world."

Well, Samuel fulfilled the first half of his vow and failed the second half.

In the third year of the company's establishment, business at Samuel's office finally picked up. It was at that time he had proposed to me.

Although our office was met with a few more crises after that, we managed to overcome them by supporting each other.

Gradually, the tiny office slowly progressed into an actual company. The scale of the business slowly expanded. Samuel became busier as days ticked by.

After that, I gave birth to our daughter, Vivian Ford. My focus began gravitating toward my family because I needed to take care of her. So, I started letting go of my tasks in the company. In fact, some of the new hires didn't know that I was the CEO's wife.

Samuel grew colder toward me as well. He no longer showed me the same amount of care and love.

Although I felt a little saddened, I didn't take his behavior to heart. Instead, my heart went out to him for being busy with work all the time. So, I spent all of my time making sure that everything at home was dealt with properly.

That was, until the day of our seventh year anniversary. Samuel had called me, saying that he needed to work overtime. After that, he no longer texted or called me.

As I watched the meal I prepared go cold, I could feel my heart doing the same.

After that, I began investigating the people who had been hanging around Samuel. Surprisingly enough, it was quite easy for me to yield results. After all, he didn't bother hiding her existence.

It was a woman named Maggie Burner.

Samuel took Maggie to all sorts of high-end places. He even took her to the banquet hosted by his business partners and introduced her to all of his friends.

They were very close and intimate with each other. They'd chat on and on endlessly every day.

Everyone around them thought of Maggie as Samuel's spouse. He just smiled without denying that plausibility.

When I warned Samuel to watch his distance with Maggie, he kept giving me all sorts of excuses like "don't overthink it", "you don't understand anything", and "stop making it a big deal". He was extremely impatient with me.

After finding out about Samuel's newfound affection for Maggie, I began privately consulting a lawyer on how to protect my own rights and assets while being able to snag my daughter's custody rights.

I thought the worst case scenario was to leave with my daughter without being granted a penny from the divorce procedures. Little did I know that Samuel was capable of doing worse things.

Three days later, Vivi suffered from a slight fever that refused to break out no matter what. I was suffering from period pain, so I had no choice but to let Samuel take Vivi to the hospital.

He promised me that he'd do just that, but he ended up changing his destination because of Maggie's phone call.

The moment those two shameless adulterers met up, they began flirting with each other, which led to them sharing a few passionate hours together. Just like that, Samuel left Vivi in the car all by herself, completely forgetting that she was there.

Only when I called Samuel to ask about Vivi's condition did he remember the purpose behind his visit. He hurriedly rushed back to the car to check on Vivi, but it was too late.

Since then, I had lost my mind. I swore to make Samuel and Maggie pay the price.

At first, Samuel was riddled with guilt. In the end, he decided to make an enemy out of me by officially getting together with Maggie.

I hated their guts, yet I had to pretend that nothing happened between us. Aunt Linda was diagnosed with late-stage stomach cancer at that time. I didn't want her to worry about me during her final days.

Samuel promised not to tell Aunt Linda anything about the changes in our relationship. But thanks to Maggie's active instigation, he took her to visit Aunt Linda in her ward when I wasn't around.

Both of them tried to make me back off their case by triggering Aunt Linda. They didn't expect her to die of rage after hearing about Vivi's death and Samuel's infidelity.

Even though I ended up killing those two bastards, I could still feel waves of hatred overwhelming me whenever I recalled everything that had happened in my previous life.

Could my rebirth wipe out my hatred?

No way!

At least, that was what I thought.
