Sarah Codache

Walking within this capacious building to nowhere was such boring and toxic. People right here would not allow me to see the outside world once again. Even though I pleaded with the guy who captured me to join, he disagreed. He told me that he doesn't want to get fired just because of following my plea. I sighed, realizing that my decision to go with him the last time was a wrong move.

Two guards were at my back. They were following where I go, even when I had to take my necessities. I felt that the people in this goddam building were trying to tie my neck. Kitchen workers were hindering my stomach from eating the food I want. That guy with pores restricted my will to stay outside too long from the room where I temporarily lived.

Ugh! I have no freedom at all!

"Excuse me, miss, Christian is looking for you." One of the guards in a black suit surprisingly blocked m

Few months passed, and I was still here inside my room. Ever since Christian left this place, he hasn't come back yet. Workers here gave me food thrice a day, and that was it. They didn't even initiate to let me out at least once a week. I felt too exhausted by just staying here without anything to do aside from watching those people in white clothes passing by my room. Every time I saw them, they looked hurry. Going there, and here. These people might have something urgent to do every day. Well, thanks to this transparent glass on one side of this room. It somehow gave me a bit of fun here.I got up from the bed and brushed my hair with my bare fingers. I yawned. I felt tired even though I didn't do anything throughout these days. With my eyes half-opened, my legs were weak as I went near the waters at my right. The splatting sound of these waterfalls gave the waters underneath a more crystal clear appearance. I kneeled and looked at my ref

Lance SpillerWaking up with this painful feeling I had in my chest made me feel useless as days were passing, and I did nothing aside from staying inside this private hospital at the company. I was always forcing myself to work on anything that may come to my mind. I did this to avoid getting drowned in my negative thoughts. Every time I draw on scratch paper paired with a graphite pencil placed inside a small square that I asked from my teammates, I felt relieved. I can also adjust the pencil according to the length that you wished to have. But the most important thing was, the sensation of being vocal in your way about how you had been feeling was the most satisfying part.I was sitting right here beside the corner of my bed while making sort of scribble art. I can't fix my posture properly because of the injury I had with my chest. The unusual feeling of getting hit by a bullet kept flashing in my mind. It was dist

Sophia CodacheI brought with me my backpack while striking my way to school. Twirling with me my pen between my fingers while my other hand placed inside the pocket of the skirt I wore, I groaned. I blew an air after roaming my eyes around the gloomy skies above me. Everything around felt boring. There was no sense of excitement at all. The environment I am living in, the school, the road, the birds, the wind, all those things that I always encounter, it felt irrelevant. My life revolves around waking up, eating, going to school, going home, and vise versa. The feeling of loneliness every time I opened my notes at home is killing me.Seeing those leaves that flew at every corner of this road, the wind clothed around my arms. I stilled, wondering about this strange feeling I felt right now. I was about to start walking again when I heard footsteps from the back. I swiftly turned around to see

Cassius and Hanaele brought me to a hidden place which growing plants and species surrounded by it. Right in front of their towering wooden gate, a logo of a fierce-looking eagle captured my sight. I think this is their logo. There were also four symbols behind it, which meaning confused me. It was a familiar writing style from ancient times, but they made it more creative this time with a fixed circle surrounded by the eagle that looked like an eye."You must be wondering towards something, Sophia." Hanaele placed her palm above my right shoulder as she noticed me starring above the gate. After that, she stood straight with both hands at her back while looking at that eagle symbol. Cassius went ahead of us with the rest of the people, which I did not know how to call them since they were wearing the same clothes, guarded him.I looked down as I realized that I had not introduced myself formally to her. Also, the thought of Hanae

"Good day, your honor." Hanaele and Cassius bowed respectfully in chorus in front of this muscular old man in a leathered brown suit with different logos sewed at the right side of his arms. He was sitting on his wooden chair, facing the window away from us. While all of them were doing this noble stuff, I felt awkward about the situation. I have noticed that these people who live here were mostly courteous with one another. But I guess I was judging too fast. Besides, it was just my first time meeting the society here. When these two at my sides were done making a bow, the old man stood up. "You two are here, so I'd be expecting good news from the both of you." His voice was deep and fitted for his position. Base on what he said, he was probably the one who tasked Hanaele to bring me here.Cassius glanced at Hanaele for a while before he spoke. They were communicating with each other by using their eyes. Now I wondered what these two

Sitting in front of these people who shared things in common, I felt unsettled while scooping good food in my mouth. The dark empty room with only a few things collided with the silence. It was awkward to eat at this moment. As I roamed my eyes around them, I spotted Hanaele's eyes hesitating to pick up her eating utensils. Her hands were going back and forth to the spoon and fork placed beside each side of her plate. Her eyes were confused while making decisions out of uncertainty.Cassius noticed her reaction. His eyes were worried and seemed to put himself onto her shoes. Since he sat beside Hanaele, he gently held Hanael's hand, guided it towards the spoon. The spoon was placed above the fork. Hanaele felt relieved, glancing towards Cassius as she smiled, showing a glimpse of appreciation.I was wondering the reason behind Hanaele's confusion. Although both the fork and the spoon were different in c

The sunlight from the window woke me up in the morning as it slapped over my face. I get off to bed with my eyes half-opened. I slowly went towards the window and glanced at the calm scenery outside. It was quiet with only few children playing outside. The houses looked elegant with their simple yet satisfying designs. Compared to what we have in my previous homeland, these houses were the most modest. I cannot say that the village they have here is old nor futuristic. I guess I was living in a middle time environment. Oh well, I did not even know the way back home then.I shook my head and smiled, trying to forget what I have before."Ah, the rain has stopped. The sun looks lovely today, isn't it, Sophia?~" The cute, enthusiastic voice of Flora, which made me recognized her immediately, entered this humble room with only a bed, small table, and old-wooden chair. When I glanced at her, she was smiling while putting food above the

I wandered my eyes around to check if someone caught my delay. But, I felt more awkward after seeing those serious, tiger-looking faces of my fellow cadets. Their forehead wrinkled while giving a strong impression on their eyes. When I glanced at my back to see the reaction of a random girl, she did not look at me, not even for a millisecond. She was wearing a ponytail with slightly curved eyebrows, which made her looked sad. But because of how she looked straight, her expression changed.Should I also follow what they did? Ah, I was not prepared for this. Hanaele and Cassius have not told me anything about this."Pst! Sophia, what are you doing?" Aided by her comrades at her back, they were the Esperer warriors that helped them fight against the monster trees. They were all exhausted and their eyes looked tired. Larch came to ponder about their situation. He didn’t expect them to get tired like this. It was rare to their perspective to see these legendary warriors in this facile appearance they had.Cassius welcomed them with a question, “Where is Sophia?” His question made Nover bitter.
