Dream 6: Barrier

The Fairy Who Was Imprisoned In His Own Forest Said He’s Going to Tag Along With Me

Hail raised his hand. “Wait, wait.” He told him. He looked at him. “First of all, I’m just passing by here.” He started. “Second, I don’t know you. Third, I don’t know this place except that this is from my dream – “ he said.

The fairy’s forehead knotted when he said ‘dream’.

Hail secretly sighed. “And fourth – “ he continued, then looked the fairy in the eyes. “ – this is just my dream. So, anything in this dream got nothing to do with me, since the moment I woke up from this – “ he said and his eyes narrowed. “ – I won’t remember anything.” He told him.

The fairy’s eyes widened in shock.

Yes. That’s it. Hail thought. Once I wake up in this dream, I won’t remember anything. He heaved a sigh. He then slept after, hoping to wake up from this fantasy-like world.

…

The next day.

“So?” the fairy said, following him again. “Have you forgotten everything that happened yesterday?” he asked him.

Hail is still following the river, and the fairy is following behind him.

He sighed, feeling pissed. He gritted his teeth in anger. “Fine, fine. You don’t believe me.” He said as he turned back to the fairy while waving his hand. “Why are you still following me?” he asked him before he turned back and resumed walking, following the river.

The fairy frowned. “I told you already yesterday that I believe that you could get me out of here.” He answered.

“What are the chances?” Hail asked. “And you don’t even know me, nor I know you.” He added as he kicked some pebbles on the way.

“A big chance.” The fairy answered. “And my name is ‘Blue’. What about you?” he asked him as he fluttered behind him, following.  

Hail frowned. “You seriously gave me your name…” He muttered and sighed.

Blue carelessly shrugged. “Since I am betting my chance to get out of here on you, what is the risk of me giving my name to you?” He asked him.

Hail sighed and ignored him. This is really getting troublesome… he thought. One, I didn’t wake up from this dream at all. And two – he frowned and glanced at Blue following behind him. – a persistent fairy is following me, believing that I could get him out of this place. He sighed and looked forward, only for his eyes to widen in shock after he saw a wide plain.

“The exit!” He exclaimed, smiling brightly. I can finally get out of this maze-like forest - ! He thought, feeling very excited, and ran towards the plain ahead.

“The exit…” Blue muttered under his breath and then flew after Hail. But, his eyes suddenly widened in shock and he cried after he hit the barrier. “Ugh!” he grunted in pain as his wings stopped flapping and he fell.

Hail suddenly stopped when he heard Blue suddenly cry behind him. He turned to look at him, only for his eyes to widen in shock when he saw that Blue suddenly fell! “What… BLUE!!!” he called and ran back to the forest. “What’s wrong?” He asked when he saw Blue rose from the ground and swung his arms to hit the barrier.

He was surprised when he saw his tears fall.

“Hail… I can’t… get out.” Blue said, crying.

“What?!” Hail exclaimed in shock. “So, you were really telling the truth?!” He asked as he looked at him in disbelief.

Blue frowned. “Of course, I am!” he said, mad.

Hail grimaced as he entered the forest. Blue’s eyes went wide in shock when he saw that Hail could enter. “You really can enter…” he muttered as he looked at Hail in awe.

Hail frowned when he saw Blue’s disbelieving look. “Then, I’ll exit again – “ he said and stepped outside.

“Wait - !” Blue said and grabbed his arm to stop him.

Suddenly, their eyes went wide when they heard something break. They looked up and saw crystals glistening in the air as they fell to the ground.

“What…” Hail muttered in aghast as they watched the crystalline ‘things’ fall like rain. “So beautiful…” he muttered under his breath.

“The barrier…” Blue muttered with widened eyes. “… broke.” He said.

Hail turned to him. “Huh?” He said, didn’t hear what Blue just said. He just shrugged when he saw that the other still looked dazed. He turned and resumed watching the crystalline ‘things’ fall.

“I was imprisoned, though I don’t know why or by whom. I realized it, one day, when I couldn't get out of the forest anymore…”

Blue watched as the broken barrier fell down to the ground. I’m finally free… he thought and looked at the guy standing beside him, smiling as he watched the broken barrier fall.

“I don’t know why I was imprisoned, or by whom…”

I actually know… now… Blue thought as he watched Hail’s smiling face. I know now… and it’s because of this guy – he thought as he closed his eyes when he recalled some memories.

“Hmm~” he hummed as he skipped. A basket full of fruits is in his hand. I am going to visit him today since I heard he was sick. He thought. “I hope he will like them…” he muttered and smiled as he looked at the overflowing fruits in the basket. “I wonder why he got sick, though?” I muttered, feeling puzzled, when I remembered that one day, a guard went there in the forest and told him that the prince got sick.

“His Highness got sick, so he told us he can’t come here. And he also said that you shouldn’t visit him starting from now, or you’ll catch his sickness – “ the guard said and left him there, dumbfounded.

But I know better. He thought. It wasn’t him that said that, but that evil witch! He frowned just by remembering her evil face. And so, he decided  that he would visit him.

“Hmm~” He hummed as he neared the exit. He brought out his wings and flew. “What!” his eyes went wide in shock when he saw something glistened and it hit his head. “Oww!” He cried and fell on the ground.

He dropped the basket he was holding, and the fruits rolled out of the basket and onto the grass.

“What the… what was that?” He asked, puzzled. He looked at the exit. His eyes suddenly went wide when he saw that it glistened again. “A… barrier…” he muttered and flew towards it. He was very shocked when he felt it was hard. “Damn it! Why is there a barrier here?” He muttered, pissed. He punched it, but it didn’t break. “Damn it!” He cursed and looked outside. He saw the castle afar. “Hail!!!” He screamed as his tears fell.

The fruits that rolled away from the basket fell on the river.

I fell asleep, and when I woke up the next morning, I couldn't remember Hail. Blue thought and looked at Hail as he pulled him outside the forest and into the plain.

“Wow!” he exclaimed and he looked at the wide plain. His face is filled with awe and amazement. He smiled when he breathed in the fresh air. “A province, huh…?” he muttered.

“Hail…” Blue called.

“Hm?” Hail muttered and turned to him. “How did you know my name?” he asked in surprise. “I didn’t tell you…” he muttered and looked at Blue suspiciously.

Blue forced a smile. “I am a fairy, so I can read people’s minds.” He answered.

Hail’s brows raised and he shrugged as he continued to watch the surroundings.

But, Blue’s smile faded. I knew it. He thought as he looked at his hands. His powers came back. But, Hail can’t remember anything.

…

“Ma’am!” They called and opened the door.

She raised her hands. “I know – “ she said and flicked her finger.

Their eyes went wide when they went flying and hit the wall. They fell on the floor.

“Shit.” She cursed and looked at the forest afar.

The barrier has vanished – no, more like it was broken.

“That damn interfering fairy has finally got out. And – “ her eyes narrowed. “ – he just broke my barrier just like that. So, he’s really planning to go against me?” she asked and grinned as she went out of the room and walked towards the throne room.

“Mother?” Aria called as she and her husband, Sei, the king, turned to her.

Yuria smiled and walked towards them. If he’s going to thwart my plans, then – she thought as she stood beside Aria and Sei. – I’ve got no choice but to kill these two. Her eyes narrowed sinisterly.

Now, let’s see how far you’ll go… Hail!
