Alice – POV

An irritation bubble surged within me as I watched Jeffrey escape again, scampering away like a scared cat. I could see the same look of frustration mirrored in James's eyes; he, too, was vexed by our inability to capture Jeffrey once and for all. That bastard Jeffrey was a real pain in the ass, and I was racking my brain, trying to figure out how to track him down.

"Let's head home for now," James suggested, breaking me out of my thoughts. Before we teleported back home, he destroyed his car, erasing any evidence of the accident that could alarm the police. Once we arrived home, I quickly showered and changed into fresh clothes.

Exhaustion washed over me as I sank back onto the couch, my body still adjusting to the Hydra's magic and the fragments of conversation between myself and the Hydra before it departed.
