"What are you looking at?"

Heather was still eating when Tyrone asked in his deep voice. She withdrew her gaze and smiled before saying, "I'm looking at the pavilion in the garden. The carvings on the roof of the pavilion are very lifelike."

She pointed to the pavilion to show him.

Tyrone just glanced at it indifferently. He wasn't interested in the carvings; he was only interested in chatting with her. "Did you study architecture?"

Heather shook her head. "No, I didn't. I just read about ancient architecture before. Well, I actually wanted to study architecture in college, but I had to give up and switch to literature."

"Why did you give up?"

"I didn't have enough money. Architecture is a major that requires a lot of dedication, but I needed time to work."

The money the Snyders gave her hadn't been enough for tuition and living expenses, but she had felt embarrassed to ask them for more money. So, she had started working to earn her own.
