Donavon's lost Luna
Chapter 1
Zuri
"What makes you think I killed your father, Donavon?" My father's voice resounded from his office."Because I've got all the evidence with me, Lycus," the opposing voice replied.
"There's no evidence that you can hold, Don; I'm not and never will be the cause of your misfortune," my father replied.
The sound of swords clanking was what I heard next, which made me hurry to see what and who it was.
"I'm telling you, Donavon, I did not kill your parents," he yelled amidst the sword fight.
"Zuri, princess, go back in," my father said, turning his attention towards me as I opened the door to his office.
My eyes darted to the man whose voice I'd been hearing from the distance, and I had barely seen his face when my father's gasped, and I watched in horror as blood oozed from his slit throat.
"Father!" I screamed and bent to the floor in terror as I scrambled to meet him, seeing his blood drop from the edge of Donavon.
"Papa!" I yelled, shaking his body violently, to no avail.
He was dead, and I knew it; no one survived their throat being slit with such accuracy.
"What have you done?" I yelled and stood up to face him, slapping him across the face.
Tears rolled down my face when I saw the lifeless body of my father on the ground.
"You'll pay for this," I said, and I grabbed the sword from my father's body and swung it at him, sending him steps backwards.
I turned again, swinging it until he held the sword in his hands close to my nape.
I halted my steps, staring at him in the eye.
"You're not capable, princess; no matter what rage or hate you carry, it doesn't amount to anything compared to what I've been breeding; you're alone now, he said, turning my hands backward and bringing out a cuff from his pocket to hold my hands.
I would have never imagined that I'd be taken as a slave by the person my father trusted most, the Blue Moon Pack's successor.
They'd been friends since forever before I was even brought to life, and I knew that my father would never, not in a billion years, be a traitor.
I looked back to the man who held my hands in cuffs, now an Alpha, and back to the body of my father in the pool of his blood.
"I know one day you'll realise my father was innocent, and it'll be too late for you," I said, earning me a strip of cane on my back. I winced in pain, letting the tears flow from my face.
If there's one thing I learned from my father, it was to express pain as it came your way.
"Never keep your pain Zuri, whenever you feel like crying, let the tears flow, cry, and let yourself feel better," he'd always say.
"Alpha Donavon," a guard, burst into the room from outside.
"Capture the maids and take them to the pack; name this territory ours, he ordered to the guards who stood at the door.
My tied hands were being dragged towards the exit of the room, and I turned back again to look at the body of my father on the ground.
"Set the body on fire," he said while the guard went behind me, setting my father's body ablaze.
"Nooo!" I screamed, shaking my hands to be freed from his tight hold on them.
The strip of a cane slapped on my flesh, and a tear tore it through.
"Keep shut, princess; it'd take me nothing to burn your body alongside your father's," he said, tugging my body harshly to the front.
I was being dragged alongside the other maids of the pack to a pack I knew nothing about as a slave, and I knew without a doubt that my life would be miserable with him.
I turned my eyes around, looking for a particular person, and a breath of relief washed over me when my eyes caught him.
I wasn't mistaken; I was the only one he bore hatred against; the strip on my back oozed fresh blood while we were being carted away to the blood moon pack.
"Where is she?" I heard Donavon's voice from inside the carriage I was thrown into with the other maids.
"She's inside the carriage, Your Highness," one of the guards replied, unsure of what to do next.
"Bring her out and tie her to the back," he ordered, and fear gripped at the thought of being tied to a carriage.
"Why so much hatred for a crime I know nothing about, Donavon?" I asked, calling him by his name, and I should have known better that it'd earn me a strip of cane or more than that.
The lash of the guard's cane tore my body through again, but my gaze didn't falter from him, even as tears fell from my face.
"Tie her," was all he said before he walked away from me, leaving me to the guards, who found pleasure in carrying out the cruelty of the task their master assigned to them.
The heat of the sun reminded me of the burning smell of my father's body in his office.
Tears fell again from my face, and this time I didn't even have the luxury to wipe them from my face; my hands and legs were already tied.
The loud jerk of the carriage and the blaring of the guards' announcement brought me out of the sleep I'd fallen into.
I opened my eyes to the beautifully intricate designs of the pack; the blue walls of the pack reflected in my face, and the evening sunlight warmed my skin.
A guard walked to the back of the carriage, untying my hands and legs. I fell to the ground with a thud, my knee scraping the ground, and yet another tear.
"Get up," the guards growled, and they dragged me from the ground, taking me alongside the rest of the maids.
Donavon's lost LunaChapter 2Alpha Donavon walked towards me, satisfied with the gory sight of the battered wounds on my body.Send them to the maids' room and have them assigned to their various duties, except for her," Alpha Donovan said, and I raised my face to look at him. "Have her thrown in the dungeon; treat her the way every person thrown there is being treated and nothing less," he ordered and turned away, leaving me in the hands of the guards."Zuri," my best friend Hart called, but I couldn't afford to get him into the bane of Alpha Donavon.I turned towards his voice and nodded without saying anything. My steps faltered, and it earned me yet another slap behind my head. The coppery liquid metal dripped from my nose, and I was being met with the nonchalance of the guards, who cared less if I died or lived. Behind the cold metals of the dungeon that I was being thrown to, away from the light of the blue moon pack, to the dark, shadowy hell of a place, I felt life slippi
Donavon's lost LunaChapter 3Alpha Donavon"I, Zuri Lycus, daughter of Alpha Lycus of the Edged Claws, will not, will never, and can never accept you, Donavon, as my Alpha," the girl before me said, taking me aback. No one, not even the eldest of the elders, dared to look me in the eyes and talk more about openly declaring that she'd never accept that I was her Alpha.I wanted her to; I needed her to succumb to self-loathing—the same pit of hell that I was.And the look in her eyes when she told me that her father knew nothing about my father and mother—I almost took it as the truth, but I knew better than to trust the words from the mouth of a person like her, the daughter of a murderer.I paused at my last thought. I'd officially become a murderer as well—a beast or more—but I cared less. My rage for revenge had made me not think twice before I slit his throat, and the way he looked at his daughter as if surrendering her to evil.It hurt that he took advantage of me to derive the j
Donavon's lost LunaChapter 4 ZuriThe head maid had instructed me not to say anything, lest I earn myself another one of the hits. And I'd done as she had said, secretly hoping he wouldn't come until I finished the task assigned to me.And he had walked through the door. I took no indifferent action and instead continued cleaning while he sat.The air in the room was tense as I walked away. I hadn't healed from all the pains he'd caused me, and I wasn't willing to incur another. We had both shared some words before I walked out to meet an angry elder in the room.It wasn't a good time, but that was none of my business. It'd be best if I minded my Ps and Qs concerning Donavon.Curiosity, however, took the best, and I walked to the slightly open door to eavesdrop on what he was going to say.And just like I'd expected, he was met with the cruelty of his hatred for me, and when the sword was wielded, I could imagine how it was done. His growl from inside the room reverberated through t
Donavon's lost LunaChapter 5 ZuriI watched as Hart paid no heed to my words or my pleas before turning around to leave."SSee Zuri, you'll be let out in the morning, and this is the most I can do for you. I know you want to save Donavon, but I don't see the reason you need to, though. He's a beast, Zuri. Have you thought about the way he treated you, made you feel, the cane and the fucking beating and strangling he's done to you before you decided to help him? He's killed your father, Zuri. Wise up. Not everyone deserves kindness," he lectured.Tears rolled from my face at the realisation of the truth. I'd had my fair share of misery from him, not that I was guilty; I was innocent, and my father was as well."Have you thought about it, Zuri? He took us captive and had your father's pack members be brought hostage while you, Zuri, you're a princess; one day you'd become Queen, and he lowered you to the position of a slave," he added again, several thoughts of how he'd burned the bod
Donavon's lost Luna. Chapter 6“Zuri, can you hear me? Are you okay?" I knew it would be Hart's voice from outside the door as I wriggled furiously in Alpha Donavon's hands.“Please, please, let me go. I'll go bring some other girl for you; I'm not the one you want!" I screamed in his face to no avail. His gaze had all blurred out, and as strong as she was, his movements were sloppy, but that wasn't enough for me to slip out of his arms."I don't care about who you are; all I want is to pin you down under this bed and have my way with you," Alpha Donavon growled, and I felt my body shudder with fear.Hart was hitting on the door as hard as he could, but it only resounded as a soft thud on the side of the bed.“Please, let me go. I just came to save you; I'm done with that now. “Let me go for goodness’s sake.” I purred and pleaded, but to no avail.Donavon forcefully placed me on the bed, and I could only watch as he stood over me, smiling.“Please…” I muttered, but it felt as though
Donavon's Lost LunaChapter 7Zuri “Who's there,” the guard asked, flashing the flashlight in our direction.Hart held my shoulder as he pressed me down to the ground, barely escaping the guard's flashlight. The lights turned toward us briefly before moving away again, causing Hart and me to breathe heavily with the fear of almost getting caught."Careful," Hart said, holding my waist as he held my frail body back to the dungeon."Are you okay, Zuri?" Hart asked as we reached the dungeon's entrance."I think you should leave now. "I'll wear this sweater tonight and hide it somewhere tomorrow," I said as I turned to head back into the dungeon."I'm sorry, Zuri, and I promise we'll get through this together," Hart said softly, his forehead pressed against mine, holding my face gently, before kissing my forehead."Thank you too, Hart," I said and turned to leave."I'll bring you medication from the infirmary tomorrow," he said, dragging open the metal bars of the dungeon for me to go in
DNLL 8Zuri"Get your hands off him, " one of the elders growled and Donavon smirked, and loosened his grip on the elder's neck before throwing him to the ground. "I tell you that the filthy tricks won't work on me, you deserve to be martial right," Donavon said, gripping the other man's shirt. He stared loathingly at the other men who shuddered from the intensity of his glare. Unable to breathe anymore, Donavon threw the man in his hands to the ground and strode away, stopping in front of me, he kicked the metal bucket I was cleaning with, splashing the foamy water in my eyes and the bucket hitting my calf. I seethed and moaned in pain, while he walked away without a care in the world. I blinked away the tears that were threatening to fall from my face and carried the pail away, leaving the almost dead men in the room to themselves."Maybe he deserved to not be saved last night, Maybe he deserved being usurped, after all when he was, I could be free from his slavery, "I muted To
DNLL 9By dawn, the entire pack house had turned almost upside down. "Find me; I need to know the truth about what happened to me. I'm not going to look like an idiot in front of those good-for-nothing elders," he growled, and I heard his voice reverberate from the corner of the room that I stood in.He scanned his eyes around the room, and I shifted further into the corner to avoid being seen, when I bumped into an elder from the pack. My perfect plan to remain hidden for the entire day had failed woefully, and Alpha Donavon turned his gaze towards me.I moved to apologize when I felt the stinging slap of the man in my face. "How dare you, you lowly, lowlife servant?" he cussed, and he dragged me out of the corner of the room. I thought I'd seen wrong when Donavon's gaze softened; the search in his eyes halted when he saw me being dragged over, and he watched intently at the elder's harsh action. "Kneel and apologize for what you've done," the man said, and I stared, shocked, at
DNll 30Donavon's POV"Alpha Donavon," Javi called, quickening his steps towards me."Have you seen her?" I asked, and he shook his head."Damnit!""Do you have anything you want to do with her? The guards didn't see her, which means she didn't go out of the pack house; she's probably somewhere trying to find some peace," he said, and I stared with bloodshot eyes."I need her, right here and right now," I barked to Javi's dismay."With all due respect, Alpha Donavon, don't you think you're doing too much with your unnamed obsession with Zuri?" Javi said, pulling me back from whatever thoughts of Zuri I had in my mind."I need you to watch your mouth, Javi; you don't have the fucking right to talk to me that way!""Of course, I do; as your beta alpha, Donavon, it seems like every single one of your actions is controlled by Zuri. You always want her in front of you under the excuse of hurting her, taking revenge on your so-called murdered family," a sharp pang shot through my chest at t

My voice broke with a hiccup."You trust me, right? I'm here for you, Zuri; I've made the doctor make sure that no one gets to know about your pregnancy before we leave," he said, as he wiped my tears with his finger."The doctor said you could go back to your room, and some drugs have been prescribed to treat your broken bones," he said, and I looked up at him."Don't you think it is better if I just die?""Shut up, Zuri," he growled with his body shuddering."Do all you can to avoid that bastard; I'll clean where you're supposed to and get your work done," he said, but I shook my head in argument."Please, Zuri, I need you to listen to me; you're the only person I've left, and losing you... is not an option," he said, and I nodded without any further arguments."Let's leave now, he said and took

DNll 28Donavon's POV"I've arranged for you to get your test done in another hospital," Hart said behind me."I'm not going to get the test done.""But you need to, Donavon; your alpha title is on the line, and the fact that these men elders would make use of the news to get you usurped from the throne," Hart said again, trying to convince me."I said I'm not going to Hart; let them do whatever they want; it's high time I take the lives of those bastards," I said, turning to walk back."You cannot kill any of them, Donavon; doing that would mean an automatic removal from your position as an Alpha," he said and held me back from leaving."Let's just get the test done with; you can have them face the pack's court afterward," he said, and I paused. To have them court-martialed. It was the best, and they wouldn't be the only people; I'd make sure everyone involved in this conspiracy was dealt with."Where's Zuri?" I asked as I walked back to my room; she was the perfect venting machine a
DNLL 27Zuri's povI whimpered softly. From the impact of my fall, as I held on to the door frame for support."Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?" Javi asked, and I nodded, holding my hand away from his grip."Javi!" Donavon barked from the distance. He stood without looking back."I can handle myself, Beta, please," I said, and he took another look at me before standing back up to leave."Please go to the pack infirmary to get yourself treated," Javi said, and I nodded, clenching tighter onto the door; my eyes were getting blurry, and my consciousness was weaning. The metallic taste of blood that dripped from my forehead and nose made the hairs on my body turn bristle, and I could feel goosebumps form on my skin.I tried to hold on to the bucket in front of me with my sweat-drenched hands for support, but I fell back to the ground, breaking a bone, and the last of what I saw was my father's stick in the distance...."Hey, can you see me, Zuri?" The voice of a woman dressed in a
DNLLChapter 26Donavon's POVI fluttered my eyes. Open to the sunlight that streaked through the window. The room was a typical mess.I stepped down gingerly from the bed, looking around the litter in the room. The course of yesterday's nightmare played through my head.I hissed and moved to walk to the bathroom when my eyesight caught a towel, a pail of water, and a cup of thyme tea that looked like I'd drunk half of it."Alpha Donavon," the voice of a maid walking through the door, broke me out of my thoughts."Did you come to my room last night?"She stared at me, puzzled at what answer she could provide."Answer me, did you step into my room last night!?" I felt her body shudder from the force at which I barked in her face."I... I wasn't in your room, Alpha Donavon," she whimpered, and I hissed angrily, running my hands through my hair."Get me all the maids in the pack house and make sure you find out where every one of them was last night," I said, and she bowed in response bef
DNLL 25Zuri's POV My head spun when I heard what they were talking about, not that it did any good or bad to me, I had no business with it. Or maybe it even did me more good than bad. There was no risk that I'd be pregnant, and it meant that my late period was a result of hormonal changes. I smiled at their words before my reaction changed into a frown and back into a smile. He'd be taken away from the position of the alpha, and I'd be free to go away from this evil man. The thought of me telling Donavon that he wasn't my Alpha sent me chills, and I realised that I could have died at that moment. He held that sword to my neck. However, the news hadn't spread yet, and it didn't seem like it was true because while all those were going, Donavon stood confused as to what was happening. Someone was either spreading fake news on purpose, or Donavon was really impotent. .I walked back to my room with the pail and towel that I'd used to clean Donavon's room.I plopped to bed and slep
DNLL 24Kier's point of view Zuri's words stilled in her mouth, and whatever it was that she wanted to say... got stuck in her mouth.. She had been too happy these days, from Volkov to herself, she deserved none of that happiness. "My apologies, Alpha Donavon; I've forgotten that you're an alpha who doesn't see beyond himself, a self-conceited bastard," she cussed in my face. "Kill me, Donavon; you'll get the peace you've always wanted, is it not, or you get your peace by making sure the daughter of your murderer goes through the same hell as you do," Zuri said, further riling me up. "Shut your mouth, Zuri," I said, and she shook her head. "Kill me, Donavon, kill me; if I'm that princess whose father killed yours kill me and prove yourself a man, maybe I'll finally get to meet my father where he is," she said, throwing her papa's sword on the bed and sitting in front of me as she pushed herself into the sword. "Do you remember how you did it?" the goddamn princess asked, looki
DNLL 23Zuri's POV I plopped back to the bed and opened the first pages of the book. I could swear that Hart chose an interesting book with a lot of pages just to keep me entertained for however long the book could last. I squinted my eyes and flipped to the first page of the book in my hands, and the enthusiasm I'd hoped to get was the polar opposite of how fast I fell asleep with the book in my hands....Next morning I woke up to the scrunched pages of the book under my jaws. I'd slept on it, and its pages had become torn like how my face was when Donavon tore a sword through my father's neck.I stood up from the bed and took a bath, changing into a neat gown, and before I grabbed the pail and the mop to clean, Donavon woke up for the day.The ominous air and the tiny whispers from the maids got me on my nerves."Hey, have you heard it?" a maid whispered behind me, and I stepped closer, as close as I could, to listen in to what she had to say."I heard from one of the elders,
