Donavon's lost Luna

Chapter 1

Zuri

"What makes you think I killed your father, Donavon?" My father's voice resounded from his office.

"Because I've got all the evidence with me, Lycus," the opposing voice replied.

"There's no evidence that you can hold, Don; I'm not and never will be the cause of your misfortune," my father replied.

The sound of swords clanking was what I heard next, which made me hurry to see what and who it was.

"I'm telling you, Donavon, I did not kill your parents," he yelled amidst the sword fight.

"Zuri, princess, go back in," my father said, turning his attention towards me as I opened the door to his office.

My eyes darted to the man whose voice I'd been hearing from the distance, and I had barely seen his face when my father's gasped, and I watched in horror as blood oozed from his slit throat.

"Father!" I screamed and bent to the floor in terror as I scrambled to meet him, seeing his blood drop from the edge of Donavon.

"Papa!" I yelled, shaking his body violently, to no avail.

He was dead, and I knew it; no one survived their throat being slit with such accuracy.

"What have you done?" I yelled and stood up to face him, slapping him across the face.

Tears rolled down my face when I saw the lifeless body of my father on the ground.

"You'll pay for this," I said, and I grabbed the sword from my father's body and swung it at him, sending him steps backwards.

I turned again, swinging it until he held the sword in his hands close to my nape.

I halted my steps, staring at him in the eye.

"You're not capable, princess; no matter what rage or hate you carry, it doesn't amount to anything compared to what I've been breeding; you're alone now, he said, turning my hands backward and bringing out a cuff from his pocket to hold my hands.

I would have never imagined that I'd be taken as a slave by the person my father trusted most, the Blue Moon Pack's successor.

They'd been friends since forever before I was even brought to life, and I knew that my father would never, not in a billion years, be a traitor.

I looked back to the man who held my hands in cuffs, now an Alpha, and back to the body of my father in the pool of his blood.

"I know one day you'll realise my father was innocent, and it'll be too late for you," I said, earning me a strip of cane on my back. I winced in pain, letting the tears flow from my face.

If there's one thing I learned from my father, it was to express pain as it came your way.

"Never keep your pain Zuri, whenever you feel like crying, let the tears flow, cry, and let yourself feel better," he'd always say.

"Alpha Donavon," a guard, burst into the room from outside.

"Capture the maids and take them to the pack; name this territory ours, he ordered to the guards who stood at the door.

My tied hands were being dragged towards the exit of the room, and I turned back again to look at the body of my father on the ground.

"Set the body on fire," he said while the guard went behind me, setting my father's body ablaze.

"Nooo!" I screamed, shaking my hands to be freed from his tight hold on them.

The strip of a cane slapped on my flesh, and a tear tore it through.

"Keep shut, princess; it'd take me nothing to burn your body alongside your father's," he said, tugging my body harshly to the front.

I was being dragged alongside the other maids of the pack to a pack I knew nothing about as a slave, and I knew without a doubt that my life would be miserable with him.

I turned my eyes around, looking for a particular person, and a breath of relief washed over me when my eyes caught him.

I wasn't mistaken; I was the only one he bore hatred against; the strip on my back oozed fresh blood while we were being carted away to the blood moon pack.

"Where is she?" I heard Donavon's voice from inside the carriage I was thrown into with the other maids.

"She's inside the carriage, Your Highness," one of the guards replied, unsure of what to do next.

"Bring her out and tie her to the back," he ordered, and fear gripped at the thought of being tied to a carriage.

"Why so much hatred for a crime I know nothing about, Donavon?" I asked, calling him by his name, and I should have known better that it'd earn me a strip of cane or more than that.

The lash of the guard's cane tore my body through again, but my gaze didn't falter from him, even as tears fell from my face.

"Tie her," was all he said before he walked away from me, leaving me to the guards, who found pleasure in carrying out the cruelty of the task their master assigned to them.

The heat of the sun reminded me of the burning smell of my father's body in his office.

Tears fell again from my face, and this time I didn't even have the luxury to wipe them from my face; my hands and legs were already tied.

The loud jerk of the carriage and the blaring of the guards' announcement brought me out of the sleep I'd fallen into.

I opened my eyes to the beautifully intricate designs of the pack; the blue walls of the pack reflected in my face, and the evening sunlight warmed my skin.

A guard walked to the back of the carriage, untying my hands and legs. I fell to the ground with a thud, my knee scraping the ground, and yet another tear.

"Get up," the guards growled, and they dragged me from the ground, taking me alongside the rest of the maids.

Chapter 60The forest seemed endless, a maze of towering trees and tangled undergrowth. Each step Zuri took felt heavier than the last, her body and heart weighed down by exhaustion and despair. Hart walked beside her, his eyes darting around for signs of danger, his protective instincts on high alert. They couldn’t afford to stop for long, not with the pack’s hunters possibly on their trail. When they finally came across an abandoned cabin hidden deep within the woods, Hart pushed the creaky door open and ushered Zuri inside. The small space was dusty and worn, with cobwebs in the corners and broken furniture scattered across the floor. It wasn’t much, but it would have to do. Zuri sank onto an old chair, her hands trembling as she cradled her belly. The reality of her situation hit her like a tidal wave. Just days ago, she was Donavon’s mate, standing at his side as they planned their future together. Now, she was on the run, labeled a traitor and carrying a child that the pack

The air was heavy with tension as they plotted their next move, emboldened by their recent success in shattering Donavon’s relationship with Zuri. “This is the perfect moment,” Tobias began, his voice low and measured. “Donavon is at his weakest. His fated mate has turned out to be a lie, and the pack knows he has no heir. We’ve sown doubt about his leadership, and now it’s time to finish what we started.” Miriam nodded slowly, her hands clasped tightly in front of her. “The pack has already begun questioning his decisions. Without a mate or a child, what future does he offer the pack? His infertility is proof that he’s unfit to lead.” Gideon leaned forward, his sharp features glinting in the dim light. “But how do we convince the pack to act against him? Despite his faults, Donavon is stil

The previous night's chaos still lingered in the air, casting a shadow over the warriors and the pack members who dared not speak openly about the upheaval caused by Zuri’s sudden disappearance. Donavon, however, seemed colder than ever, his once fiery demeanor replaced by a hardened resolve. The rogues had been spotted again—this time at the northern border. Their persistence was unusual, but their motives had always been clear: they wanted Zuri. Now, with the elders’ whispers planted firmly in his mind, Donavon’s view of her had shifted, clouded by betrayal and rage. As the warriors prepared to face the rogues once more, Donavon strode out to the training grounds where they were gathered. His presence commanded silence, his voice cutting through the quiet like a blade. “No more half-measures. We confront them directly this time.” Kira watched from the shadows, her heart heavy. She ha

His eyes were sharp and calculating. “Donavon is blinded by his emotions. If we don’t act now, Zuri will destroy everything we’ve worked for.” Elder Miriam nodded, her expression equally grim. “We must sever their bond. Zuri’s presence is the cause of these attacks. The rogues won’t stop until she’s gone.” “And how do you suggest we do that?” another elder asked. Tobias smirked, a glint of malice in his eyes. “We make Donavon doubt her. Turn his love into fury. If he believes she’s deceived him, he’ll have no choice but to cast her out.” Elder Miriam leaned forward. “And the pregnancy?” “That will be our weapon,” Tobias

The rogues were regrouping—Javi had confirmed it. We didn’t know how long we had, but the energy in the camp told me it wasn’t much. I walked through the camp, my eyes scanning the scene. Everywhere I looked, pack members were busy. Some were reinforcing barriers with sharpened stakes; others were checking the traps laid along the northern and eastern borders. Healers moved swiftly, tending to the wounded from the last attack, their faces a mix of exhaustion and determination. I couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt. The people here had fought for me, bled for me—and it still didn’t feel like enough. The rogues weren’t just after the pack; they were after me. Their hatred wasn’t just for Donavon’s leadership but for the power I was still learning to control. “Zuri,” Hart called, his voice
