Chapter 71: A lone tear

Alexa's POV

I slumped onto the bed when I finally made it to the bedroom. ‘Morgan would not do this; Ethan is a liar,’ I chanted these words like a mantra over and over in my mind, but the suffocating pain in my heart was not subsiding.

I pulled out the phone and scrolled through the contacts and paused when I reached Morgan's number; my fingers hovered above the screen. I could just tap on the screen and call him, but try as I might, I couldn't do it.

I kept staring at the phone in a daze when the loud ringing tone nearly made me toss it away. My heart skipped a beat when I saw Morgan's number flashing on the screen. I picked up the call and stabilized my voice.

“Hey.”

“Are you okay? I hope your uncle didn't give you a hard time.” He asked; there was a tinge of worry in his voice.

"No, I'm fine; you know no one can bully me,” I said, making an attempt to conceal my real emotions.
