Chapter 12: Loki and Tempest

"Good morning, Mr. Hamsmith, how was your night?" Kacie greeted when she encountered the man in the hall of the building. Rogue Chavez just arrived at the workplace for the submission of his reports since he will be starting to work with Tempest Canosa for the entire week. Her presence does not bother him but the fact that he cannot freely move around is quite disrupting his plans.

"I'm good," he fixed his ties and walked near her, "You?"

Kacie felt her cheeks blushing and she let go of a smile at him. "I assume you are about to submit the paperwork, kanina lang rin andon sa taas ang ibang staff for their reports."

"Oh right, I gotta go." He turned his back to her and proceeded to go upstairs using the elevator. However, Rogue recognized the woman who came along, it was Tempest Canosa, the woman he will be with for the task that the CEO has fixed for the week.

"So you're Loki Hamsmith?" The woman spoke which made him glance in her direction. It's just the two of them and Rogue simply gazed at her before responding.

"Yes."

"Hindi ko alam kung bakit ikaw pa naging partner ko sa trabahong 'to, I understand that you're one of those good doctors from abroad but you're new to this job, I don't consider any failure." Malamig ang boses nito at hindi man lang tinapunan ng tingin ang binata na bahagyang nakasulyap sa direksyon niya.

"You might be surprised once the task started," Rogue replied and smirked. Tempest no longer respond until they reached the final floor where the CEO's office remain.

The moment they arrived at the office, andoon na naka-pwesto ang ibang hospital staff at hinihintay ang pagdating ng dalawa. Napag usapan na nila ang tungkol sa task na hahawakan ng dalawang doktor, sunod-sunod ang mga operation na mangyayari at gusto lamang nilang makita kung gaano kagaling at mapag kakatiwalaan ang dalawa.

"Good day, Mrs. Olivarez, here are my reports from last week." Rogue handed the papers and he sat on his respective chair, Tempest on the other hand rolled her eyes and led herself towards the nearby spot.

"Good job, Mr. Hamsmith. I assume the two of you are prepared for the next task? Aware naman na siguro kayo na buong week ay ta-trabahuin niyo ito. Our clients are falling in line so we must cater to them very well." the CEO smirks and passes a folder to the man who seems unbothered.

"The other information is written in their profiles, you may now go."

Hinayaan na silang umalis, naunang tumayo si Rogue at hindi na nilingon pa ang kasama. One thing is sure in his mind, they are paid to kill. It's not a tough work for him to do, because he was born to kill. In the business industry, he is expecting them to play dirty games.

"Am I your tail?" A hint of annoyance could be heard in the voice of the woman who followed him from behind. Tempest seems to be out of control, she has been keeping up with his steps but he is way too fast to walk. Hinihingal itong bumato ng masamang tingin at bahagya namang tumigil sa pag lalakad si Rogue.

"What?"

"Are you deaf?!" Singhal ng dalaga at mas lalo lamang nagulat si Rogue. "We'll be working together so obviously, I'm following you around."

Magkasalubong ang dalawa nitong kilay at bahagya na lamang napabuntong hininga si Rogue nang makita niya ang reaksyon ng dalaga. "Alright, we're heading to the third floor to check every patient that are assigned to us." Mas lalo lamang napipikon si Tempest nang marinig ang sinabi ng binata, out of frustration, she combed her silver hair using her fingertips and followed him.

If it wasn't about the assigned task, she wouldn't be wasting any time being with a stranger.

Torrent had his way to re-check the assigned patients on the 2nd floor, he has been working well with his job despite how distracted he was recently. It was too late for him to know that the woman he admires was already committed to somebody. "You seem uneasy, doctor. How are you feeling today?" Kacie Olivarez asked out of curiosity. The lady was glancing at him from time to time, yet he managed to let go of a smile.

"No, I'm alright Miss Kacie. What made you ask?" The two of them continued to walk down the hall, as usual, the other staff that come across their way greeted them with warm smiles.

"You've been quiet lately, I thought you were having a rough time with your job."

Torrent simply chuckled upon the thought, well, he too is aware that he was disturbed by the news he heard. "Anyways, what are you going to eat for lunch? Mag ta-take out ka ba?" Kacie noticed that the topic was a bit off for Torrent so she dared to jump off to another matter.

"I'll think about that, I don't feel like eating today."

Both of them paused from walking when they noticed the other two doctors who are approaching their way. Tempest gave them an empty look while Kacie replied with a sigh. Rogue, on the other hand, recognized the man standing before him, and by the look in his eyes he knows that he is raging inside.

"Hi," Kacie's attention was on Rogue. "How's your duty?" she asked. Her eyes were sparkling in admiration and Tempest who saw that simply rolled her eyeballs.

"We've inspected every assigned room to us and we're somehow getting along now, thanks for asking doctor." Rogue's reply made her heart flutter, para bang ito na lamang ang tanging maririnig ng dalaga habang nakatingin sa lalaking hinahangaan niya.

"Oh please drop the formality, just call me Kacie." She was smiling from ear to ear and Torrent who was beside her simply cleared his throat. Bahagya namang tumango si Rogue dahil sa binaggit ng dalaga upang ipakita na sumang-ayon siya.

"Oh, are you up for lunch?" Iniba kaagad ni Kacie ang usapan at napatingin naman sa kanya ang tatlong kasama na para bang sinasabi ng kanilang mga mata kung seryoso ba siya.

"I'm sorry but I'm not taking my lunch today, kayo nalang siguro." Tempest did not even bother to look at them one by one. Napansin naman iyon ni Rogue kung kaya ay umimik na rin siya.

"Ah, right. We still have to fix the other graphs for the next check up, we should get going. Please, enjoy your lunch." Kacie looked disappointed upon Rogue's response, while Torrent simply twitched his lips while slowly nodding his head. Nag simula na ang dalawa na maglakad paalis kung kaya ay hinayaan na lamang nila ito.

"What did you just do?" Tempest asked the moment they distanced from them. By the looks in her face, she seemed annoyed.

"Trying to excuse ourselves from their invitation?" Rogue simply replied while looking on his way.

"You should've come with them, isa pa, sister-in-law mo 'yon. Wouldn't it be rude to reject her offer?"

"There is a lot of time for that, we are on our duty."

Hindi na umimik pa si Tempest dahil alam naman niyang kahit ano pang sabihin niya ay mababara lamang siya ng kasama. Ngunit mas lalo lamang siyang nakaramdam ng pagkairita dahil hindi niya alam kung bakit ganoon na lamang ang inaakto ni Rogue. Napansin ng lalaki na huminto siya sa paglalakad kung kaya ay nilingon siya nito, "Ano na? Wala ka bang plano bumalik sa nurse station? We still have to pass all these papers and re-check the details."

"You're annoying, Mr. Hamsmith. I don't even know why."

Rogue simply smirks at her before walking straight ahead. He knows very well how to annoy someone, and he likes the idea of having someone to tease off. Ayaw niyang ma-bored sa workplace niya, wala si Kouen para maasar niya kung kailan niya gusto.

"Hey, have you seen my wife?" Rogue suddenly asked which made Tempest roll her eyes.

"You mean, Keilah?"

"Yes, sino pa bang iba?" Bahagyang natawa si Rogue kung kaya ay nagtitimpi nalang ngumiti ng pilit si Tempest.

"Hindi ko alam, do I look like a watcher?"

"Nahh, but you look like someone who is very observant when it comes to her, maybe part of your rivalry?" His words trigger her and she cusses behind her head.

"Nandidilim ang paningin ko sayo, Loki. Will you get out of my sight?" Sambit nito habang pinapakalma ang sarili.

"A'ight, by the way, it's nice to hear you calling me by my name." Sambit naman ni Rogue at ngumisi, naiwan na lamang ang dalaga at hindi kaagad nakaimik pa.

"What's wrong with him? Damn."
