"The chase is over now because I finally got you, Grisella" A firm voice whispered in my ear.
Hearing a voice after a long while of being dumped on this cold ground, made me sit up properly.
I almost thought they forgot that they imprisoned someone here.
"Who are you?" I asked, turning around. Ah, fuck this blindfold. I would've ripped it off by now if my hands weren't tied to my back
"Still stubborn, no?" His dark chuckle echoed around the room.
"How about you be a man and untie me so I can show you what I'm made of?" I challenged, shaking my hands in an attempt to loosen the rope wrapped around it.
"Help her out, Russo" The man ordered.
Suddenly, the blindfold was being yanked off my eyes. I squinted my eyes, trying to adjust to the light. It sucked to be denied your vision.
"Behave yourself." Russo sneered before stepping aside. I remembered his face. He was the one who caught me and threw me over his shoulder, thereby bringing my almost complete mission to an end.
Mother fucker!
"Fuck off" I spat at him, my eyes searching for the other voice I heard. Suddenly, my hair is being yanked back, making me groan in pain
"You think I wouldn't catch you right?" The man whispered into my ears. I tried to get a glimpse of him by moving my eyes to the edge.
"Have you sat to consider if I let you catch me?" I was pushing him and I knew it but my mouth had a mind of its own and maybe it might be trying to get us killed.
Cyrus said this mission was going to be smooth. How the fuck am I being tied up. Wait, is Cyrus okay?
"You? Pfft!" The man scoffed, letting my hair go. Not without pushing it forward forcefully.
He didn't know I was counting it for him.
"You don't know me!" I challenged.
"Oh, I do. You're nothing but a thief. I thought that was obvious already" He chuckled, his footsteps drawing nearer to me.
"Untie me." I shook my hand rigorously at my back before shaking my face, trying to get my hair away from my view so I could see the bastard. I was only seeing his trouser and expensive shiny shoe.
He must be stinking rich. I mean, someone who keeps a lot of gold in his possession, he's definitely rich.
"Like hell, I'd do that" He scoffed, his hands sweeping my hair off my face.
"You?" I narrowed my eyes at him. He looked so familiar but I can't seem to recall where I had seen this face.
"Yes, me. The owner of the gold you've been stealing" He sneered, eyeing me as he crouched down to my level, as if to show me his face clearly.
"How about we make a deal?" I said, smiling at him. I still tried so hard to ransack my brain for some kind of hint as to where I met this man
"Oh, she wants to make a deal with me, Russo" The man laughed, turning to look at Russo who scoffed scornfully at me. I glared at him in return, letting him know that I didn't like him too. "Let me hear it"
"Since I was unsuccessful this time, how about I promise to never come back and you let me go." Puckering out my lips, I blinked innocently at him.
He bursted into fits of laughter, making me furrow my eyebrows at him in confusion. This is funny to him?
"What am I? God of mercy?" He scoffed, frowning at me.
"You can act like one for today" I tried again, blinking my eyes innocently at him
"You've been stealing from me for 5 months! 5 months, Grisella. You think I'd let you go just like that after causing me huge losses?" He yelled, holding my chin up. "You must be a fucking joker"
"I can work out the value of the gold and..."
"Oh trust me, vixen, you'll surely work it out" He sneered, his amber eyes digged furiously into mine.
"Since that's settled, can you untie me now?" I asked softly.
I know i was being unreasonable right now but I knew these people were dangerous and I had to get out of here. How did I even agree to this?
Also, i had to meet up with Cyrus so we could think of how to escape this mess.
"So you can run to your poor boyfriend, Cyrus?" He laughed.
"How... How did you know about Cyrus?" My words broke, exposing the fear I was trying to keep in check
Cyrus was my only family. He was the only one who showed me genuine love even though sometimes he can be brutal. But that's only when I make him angry. I deserved it.
"The Cyrus who ratted you out?" Russo scoffed from the corner. My heartbeat palpitated, hitting hard on my chest.
"No, that can't be." As if on cue, Cyrus walked in with the bag of gold. My eyes lit up as I saw him but that didn't last long as I got a glimpse of Cyrus facial expression. It was cold.
He looked different.
"Are those the gold she stole?" The man asked Cyrus, smirking at me.
"Yes, Boss. Good thing I caught her on time and reported it immediately" Cyrus said, looking at me with no emotion on his face. I wanted to cry out but I wasn't going to give him that satisfaction.
"You see?" The man said, proving his point to me. "You know, you think you're smart" Turning to face Cyrus, the man nodded at Russo.
Russo smirked evilly before he hit Cyrus down with his elbow. Cyrus groaned, falling on his knee.
"What.. what... Jesus! Don't kill me please!" Cyrus eyes went wide when the man brought out a gun from his pocket. I, myself was shocked and dumbfounded. I didn't know if I wanted the man to spare Cyrus life or kill him.
How could he betray me when I did it for both of us?
"No, My name is Julian. Not Jesus" The man, Julian now smiled, pointing the gun at Cyrus. "Every time I kept you in charge of my deals, you always let your little fucking girlfriend steal from us. Always."
He stopped walking close to him then turned to face me. "Maybe I should just kill her since she's the one who stole from me right?" The gun was now pointed at me snapping me out of the thought of where I've heard the name "Julian". My eyes went wide when his finger found its way to the trigger.
"Yes, she's the one who stole from you" Cyrus said immediately, pointing at me. My eyes widened at the outright betrayal
"Cyrus, you imp!" I charged at him, as I crawled on my knee to meet him.
"Stop right there." Julian placed his foot in front of me, stopping me, then turned to Cyrus and spoke, "But you orchestrated it and you also let it happen so, say hi to my fucking grandfather" With that, a loud boom rang around the building. I watched Cyrus drop to the ground, lifeless.
Oh my goodness!
"You... You killed him" My lips trembled as I spoke. My eyes focused on the Cyrus blood which was spreading out.
"Your turn, Step Sister"
"Julian Raniero" I called out softly, finally remembering the face. My eyes shifted between his face and the way he held the gun with a determined glare. Was he really going to shoot me? "Are you going to shoot her or what?" Russo hissed from behind Julian. Julian tilted his head, the gun pointing at my forehead. "You know what, I've changed my mind" Julian frowned, tucking his gun in his back pocket after taking it back to safety. You wouldn't have taken it back to safety. It would've roasted your ass. "What's fucking funny?" Russo spat at me.Did I laugh?Grisella, can't you learn to smile at your thoughts inwardly? I scolded myself. "Do you have a personal problem with me, Russo?" I spat back at him, matching his glare. He just knows how to rile me up."Enough, you two!" Julian yelled. "Especially you, Grisella!" I wanted to say something to him but then my eyes fell to Cyrus lifeless body and my mouth clamped shut immediately. I wouldn't want to be in that position right now
"I won't do it" I shook my head, standing my ground as I refused to enter the room. "Don't make me force you in there, Ris" Rosa, the prostitute manager as I've named her in my head, said, glowering at me.Who the fuck does she think she is?"My name is Grisella not fucking Ris!" I corrected as I shot her an irritated look. She was beginning to get under my skin. "Welcome to our world where we don't give a flying fuck" She held my hand roughly and began to drag me down through a passage. "He paid exclusive and so you must behave." "I don't want to do this. Let me talk to your boss!" I pulled her hands away from mine but they were all futile as her grip was too strong"We don't take trivia issues to our boss. I do not want to be called incompetent. I mean, you're just a little brat" She sneered, stopping at a door. "You'll go inside there and...""I will not go inside there" My interruption cost me a heavy slap across my cheek. I stared at her, dumbfounded. I was trying to process w
"You failed the last job" Julian turned on the light. I squinted my eyes trying to adjust it to the brightness. Apparently, he thought locking me up with my hands tied to a chair would be the best punishment for me. So, there I was - tied up. "You should've just said you needed to fuck me. That would've been easier than disguising to be a different person. How low!" I sneered, glaring at him through my eyelashes. He scoffed, his shoe clicked on the ground as he approached me. "You don't even feel remorseful." "Give me a real fucking job." "I paid for your service." He growled, holding my neck. "Only for it to bounce back to your bloody account. So awesome" I said sarcastically, looking straight into his eyes. "Seems like you want to join your poor little boyfriend." He nodded, releasing my neck. "Russo..." Julian stepped back for Russo to step in front of him. Russo smirked at me as he pointed the gun to my face. "What? You.. you want to kill me?" I stuttered, swallowing my fe
Julian's POV"How long are you going to leave her there?" Russo asked, sitting opposite me. I could feel his eyes on me as I worked.I was mad at her. I was mad at her for denying what I thought we had. "I don't know and I don't care" I shrugged, picking up another file"But you said you were going to make her work for it. Staying in Jail isn't working for it, man" Russo said, his voice loud. What's his problem."Don't you dare talk to me in such manner!" I yelled, hitting my fist on the table."Sorry, Boss" He said calmly."I know what I'm doing." I sighed, resting my back on the chair. I rubbed my face harshly. I've tried not to dwell on her present situation so much. I didn't want to do this to her but her stubbornness called for it."She's a tough one." I said again. "She's so fucking stubborn and she'll never tune it down until someone puts it out to her" Russo smirked at me. "And you're the someone? Pfft!" He scoffed before continuing. "Let me guess, she's the girl you've be
Grisella's POV"How could you let her stay on an empty stomach for long!" I heard a lady say. "I'm sorry. I didn't know she didn't have anything in her stomach, Ma Rita" The familiar male voice spoke outI groaned, opening my eyes slowly. I blinked a couple of times before turning to take in my environment. The sight I met, made me laugh internally. The elderly lady held Julian's ear, while he held her hand lightly. They both were looking at me delicately when I finally made a sound."So I still ended up here?" I scoffed, rolling my eyes. "You think you could run away? You're stuck with me forever" Julian smirked. "How are you feeling dear? You fainted because you had nothing in your stomach. Also, don't swallow your pills when you've had nothing to eat" She brushed my hair away from my face."What pill?" Julian asked, raising his eyebrow at us."Don't you know that she...""I'm on Contraceptive Pill!" I interrupted, smiling at the both of them. Rita raised her eyebrow at me confu
Julian's POV "Your freedom is limited. Live like it" I didn't need to see her face before knowing that she was the one. Grisella sat there in the garden with a book. My eyes roamed around her body. Ignoring her statement, I decided to tackle the current issue on ground. "Cloth" She answered truthfully. However I didn't consider her answer to be truthful."Cloth, my ass. This isn't no damn cloth. Is this how you show off much skin to everyone? Where are your morals?" I eyed her up and down scornfully. She sighed before shutting her book. I could literally feel the aggression from the way she closed the book but I was more mad. "Do you go around scolding every other girl in here? I mean, if this is a prostitution quarter, we have to dress to win over customers right?" She raised her e
