Masaki smiled again. He wasn't stupid and didn't hold himself back. He would pick which facts would benefit him now and save the rest for later. Saying Kenji caused Hayato's death was what he needed now. He wouldn’t contradict Kenji’s statement about them being friends.
"And doesn't that make it even crueler? Your father died because of what his friend did."
Masaki's grin widened as he watched Akiko's face slowly fill with hurt. The courage she had seemed to melt away, along with her trembling body. Akiko looked down and clenched her fists.
