Tears streamed down my cheeks as the weight of Nate’s cold words settled heavily on my heart. I was shaking, my body wracked with sobs that echoed through the empty penthouse.

I didn't want any of this to happen, and yet, I knew that there was no way I would ever allow myself to be ruled by whatever Nate had to say. But at the same time, fear filled my stomach. I could be causing more horrors going against him, and knowing Nate, he was capable of many things.

My hands trembled uncontrollably as my phone began to ring. I glanced at the caller ID, my heart sinking further—I wasn’t ready to talk to anyone. Ignoring the call, I tried to steady my breathing, but it was cut short by an urgent knock at the door.

“Vivi?” Tracy’s voice came through, tinged with worry and urgency. Deep down, I appreciated her concern, but I wasn’t in the mood for company or consolation.

The looming feeling from the consequences of my actions weighed down on me so heavily that I couldn't move my body.
