Maxine’s countenance was overwhelmed with surprise, causing her to decline walking ahead of me. The two other young ladies had already expressed remorse and hung their heads in shame, yet Maxine’s demeanor persisted unaltered. A few of the other pointed fingers at her, asking why they also need to apologize to me and even ridiculing her. However, I chose to disregard their words and patiently waited for their apologies, which eventually came forth because Steven was standing beside me.
