The following day, Stefani made her way to her parents' house. As she entered, she noticed their head corporate lawyer engaged in a discussion with them in the living room. Instantly, a sense of unease washed over her as she observed their expressions.

The lawyer stood up and addressed her parents, "I'll be taking my leave now, Mr. and Mrs. Carter." He then turned towards Stefani, acknowledging her presence with a nod. "I'll be on my way, Mrs. Hansley."

"Thank you for your time, Mr. Ramirez. Keep us updated if there are any further developments," Steven said, rising from his seat.

"I will. But I hope you take into consideration what I've told you," Mr. Ramirez replied.

Once the lawyer had left, Stefani looked at her parents with confusion. She placed her bag on the sofa and took a seat. "Why was Mr. Ramirez here? Is something wrong with the company?"

Steven sat beside Summer, wrapping his arm around her waist and showering her with affectionate kisses on her cheek. He responded to Ste

Jacob's desk was now adorned with a large stack of files. However, this time it was Stefani who occupied the chair, not him. As she stared at the papers before her, a profound disappointment filled her eyes, and the mere sight of them made her feel weary. She picked up one of the papers and began to read it. After a moment, she returned it to its place and let out a sigh. "I can't make sense of any of these documents...""But Missus Hansley, Missus Carter said you can't leave the office without submitting a report," Liam interjected, placing the final papers on the desk. "Should I inform them that you're unable to fulfill this task?"Stefani immediately shook her head and grabbed the folder, ready to start reading. "This is the new project, correct?"Liam nodded. "Yes. Mister Hansley was supposed to review them, provide feedback, and sign off on them. However, since he's not here, they're still pending. If you're not confident in approving them, you can leave them as they are.""I und

Stefani's gaze fell upon the papers scattered before her, but her mind remained adrift, lost in a world that Jacob had left behind. She attempted to read the sentences repeatedly, but each word seemed to elude her grasp, leaving her stuck in a state of mental paralysis. Finally, she set her pen down and closed the folder, her eyes drifting upwards to the blank ceiling. Leaning back in her chair, tears welled up in her eyes as she clutched her heart, desperately trying to quell the ache that consumed her. The memory of Jacob and Shaira leaving together invaded her thoughts, causing her to glance expectantly at the door, as if hoping for Jacob's return. Yet, nothing happened, and the emptiness within her grew. Just as she began to sink deeper into despair, her phone rang once again, surprising her. Without hesitation, she answered, only to be greeted by Shaira's ecstatic voice on the other end. "I believe you now, Stefani! I should never have doubted you. You're my cousin, and I kno

Stefani gazed at her reflection in the mirror, admiring the subtle makeup she had applied. With a light touch, she applied a lipgloss, completing her look. She wore a stunning backless red dress that accentuated her figure. As she examined herself, she couldn't help but compare her appearance to Shaira's. Shaira exuded an air of maturity, while Stefani possessed a youthful aura. The thought crossed her mind that perhaps Jacob could still love Shaira again because of their differences… Tonight was the much-anticipated dinner that Jacob had mentioned. He was already downstairs, patiently waiting for her. However, Stefani hesitated, unsure if she wanted to attend after learning that Shaira's family had also been invited. The idea of sharing a table with someone she harbored bitter feelings towards was unappealing. Nevertheless, just as she was contemplating her decision, a knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. "Stefani, are you ready? They asked us to be there by 8 pm. It's alre

A heavy silence settled in the room, suffocating everyone after they heard Shaira's request. Surprisingly, it was Stefani who appeared more shocked than Jacob.Shaira's eyes were filled with anticipation as she looked at Jacob, seemingly becoming even more intoxicated by her own request. Meanwhile, Jacob casually sipped on his drink, seemingly unfazed by the situation."Shaira, you're clearly drunk. Let me take you home," Shaira's father panicked, immediately rising from his seat. "Come on—""No, Dad. I want Jacob to take me home!" Shaira interrupted, shaking her father's hand and stumbling towards Jacob and Stefani. Her drunken state was evident in her swaying movements. "He used to take me home before. There's nothing wrong with it, right, Stefani?"Stefani flinched and struggled to find her voice, her gaze shifting from person to person at the table before finally settling on Jacob. She took a deep breath. "The driver can take you home, Shaira. Jacob has been drinking too, so he mi

As Stefani descended in the elevator, she lifted her head, desperately trying to hold back the tears. It reminded her of that time when she was soaked in the rain and Jacob heartlessly abandoned her without a second thought. It was the same thing now…A bitter smile played on her lips. There was no way he would chase after her, especially now that he was back with his ex-girlfriend. Maybe they were having a heartfelt conversation at her place. She tried to push these thoughts aside, knowing that dwelling on them only made the pain more unbearable. When she finally reached the ground floor, she took a deep breath and bit her lower lip, determined not to cry. "You can't cry, Stefani. Only weak people cry..." she muttered to herself. With a heavy heart, she began typing a message on her phone for her driver to come and pick her up.However, there was no response. In the end, she decided to call a cab instead.
