Three years ago, Adonis had to attend an important business course in Illinois. He never believed in love at that time.

He viewed love as a trivial pursuit. He was content to indulge in the countless women who fawned over him, eager for his affection, and he had a whole lot of them at his beck and call.

He had the right tool to make any woman drool and beg him for more pleasurable experiences. A one-time pleasure with Adonis was never an option for most women. He was a sex god.

With his expertise in bedmatics, Adonis effortlessly drives women crazy, but he's never seen or imagined any woman who can ever drive him crazy or make him lose his control. NEVER.

Just a few days to the end of his course, fate interfered, bringing him face to face with a stunning young woman in her very early twenties. She seemed drunk and stranded in the late hours of the night, so he decided to give her a ride home.

His intentions were pure. He had desperately tried getting her details, or at least her home address, so he could take her home, but she was in no state to make any sense at that moment. The alcohol had taken such a toll on her senses that forming a single comprehensible sentence seemed like a very difficult task.

In a gesture of compassion, when his attempts yielded no result, he decided to bring her to his own apartment, where she could safely rest and recover from her drunken state. She can be on her way by morning.

As he drove along the quiet road, Adonis couldn't help but stare at the woman beside him. Her beauty was like a burst of sunshine on a cloudy day. Her face was a study in perfection, with soft, delicate features that seemed to have been crafted by the gentlest of hands; perfectly symmetrical, with high cheekbones, a straight nose, and full lips that seemed to be perpetually curved into a smile.

He brought his car to a stop in front of his house, the environment screamed wealth and luxury.

"Careful... Watch your steps," He told the lady who could barely walk on her own two legs.

"Hey... I know, right?" She responded drowsily with her eyes half closed, making her way down from the car before Adonis even got the chance to go help her down. He was quick enough to have caught her before she fell on the floor when she stumbled upon the verandah.

He took her into his house and led her to the visitors' room. "You'll be safe here," his deep, baritone voice gently assured her, before turning to leave, but her tender voice called out softly to him.

"Hey, sir? Can you stay a while with me? I'm so scared," she lifted her drowsy eyes to meet his, barely able to hold his gaze.

He let out a scoff. 'seriously?' he wondered. He wasn't really comfortable with her request at first, but somehow, he decided to spare her a few minutes. He didn’t have much to attend to anyway. Perhaps, he'll leave quietly as soon as she falls asleep... 'but how quickly some events take drastic turns.'

Taking slow steps, he sat on the couch beside the bed, involuntarily studying her every move.

She was laying on her side just at the edge of the bed, barely a few inches away from the couch he sat on. Suddenly, her eyes fluttered open, her gaze fell on him as she let out a bitter chuckle.

"Hey... Can you please turn off the light? A sad little girl is trying so hard to sleep, you know?" She struggled to keep her eyes open, her words were almost inaudible, thanks to the effect of the alcohol, but there was a hint of sadness in her voice, conveying truth in the words she just babbled.

Adonis found himself peering intently into her eyes. Her eyes were a mesmerizing shade of green, like the leaves of a summer forest, and they seemed to sparkle with intelligence and humor. They were large and expressive, framed by long, thick lashes that seemed to go on for miles, making them look even more alluring. She was so young and vulnerable.

A profound sadness lingered in her eyes as she spoke, conveying a deep sense of hurt. It was abundantly clear that she was struggling with a great deal of emotional pain, causing him to feel a sense of empathy and compassion toward her.

"Why were you out there all by yourself? Drunk? You could have gotten hurt or something," He asked with a hint of concern in his voice, as he stood up to the side of the room where the light switch was and turned off the light, leaving just the dimly lit sleeping light.

Somehow, the faint lighting in the room came with a different atmosphere that made his heart leap. He narrowed his gaze on her.

"What's your name? Where do you stay? I could take you home if you want," He offered, which was actually strange. When did Adonis Langston get to a point where he cared so much about a stranger? He scolded himself.

But somehow, he’d wished he never asked that question. A part of him wanted her to stay the night. He felt a strange need to protect her and to make sure she was fine… Things were getting stranger around here.

"Thanks again for your help. I'll be on my way first thing in the morning," She muttered, almost in a whisper, eyes still closed, as she adjusted her position on the bed, her back turned against him.

“Holy shit! Did she just do that on purpose?” He felt his insides burn.

His eyes carefully took in her entire frame, regarding every bit of her perfect curves, and it sent a certain warmth pumping through his veins. She was sculpted for sin.

Her hair was a cascade of soft, silky waves that tumbled down her back in a riot of colors, from rich chestnut brown to golden honey highlights. It was the kind of hair that made you want to run your fingers through it and lose yourself in its softness.

Adonis was spellbound by her breathtaking beauty, yet he was acutely aware of the need to maintain a firm grip on his emotions and sanity. He was determined not to yield to the temptation of taking advantage of a vulnerable young woman in her vulnerable state, even though the temptation was becoming increasingly difficult to resist.

Her body was just as alluring as her face. She had curves in all the right places, with a trim waist and round hips that hinted at sinful imaginations.

His deep blue eyes were already clouded with lust, his mind filled with wild imaginations of the many unholy things he could do to that gorgeous body of hers.

Suddenly, he felt his pulsating length hungrily coming alive. 'fuck!' he muttered to himself. 'what the hell?' Adonis couldn't recognize himself anymore.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop his hungry gaze from taking a further tour of this temptress laying before him.

'just a glance won't kill' he told himself as he finally succumbed to the temptation of looking at her exposed skin. Her skin was smooth and flawless, leaving him in a wild imagination of how silky it might feel to touch.

Adonis felt his insides burn with raw sinful desire as her provocative appearance was doing more harm than good to him. She looked just like a seductress in the skimpy black dress she had on that accentuated her every curve and contour.

He felt a strong urge to go over there, yank that little piece of clothes into shreds, and possess every inch of her body. He felt his bulging fullness threatening to tear off the pair of trousers he had on.

No woman had ever made him feel this tense before. None at all. He couldn't wrap his head around it.

"Come on...!" He exhaled silently, running his fingers through his hair in frustration, as he was gradually beginning to lose his sanity. A single bead of sweat trickled down his right temple. He decided to play the good guy and head back to his room.

As he approached the door, he paused briefly, turning around to cast a final glance at her beautiful frame one more time. 'but that was a bad idea', as he only fell deeper under her spell.

She possessed a charm he couldn't comprehend, and he hoped against all odds that she'd find a place in her heart to forgive him by the time she sobers up by morning, because, this was a temptation he was gladly willing to fall for, damning every fucking consequence. That was the final action that marked the beginning of his misery.

***

Adonis lifted his head from his relaxed position. He took one more look at the photo on his screen. The photo of the goddess of seduction, sleeping naked on his bed, her perfect face seeming so peaceful in her sleep. He'd taken a photo of her when she was fast asleep after the memorable night they'd had.

When he woke up the next morning, on that fateful day, the first thing he did was to go check up on his new enchantress who had captured him under her spell. He was eager to get to know her better.

But as he opened the door to the room she had spent the night in, the mysterious girl was nowhere to be found. She had vanished without a trace, leaving him with no information about her identity or whereabouts. Adonis was shattered.

Despite his best efforts to locate her, he had no information to go on, no name or identifying details to guide his search. It was as if she had simply ceased to exist. She had slipped through his fingers like a mirage, vanishing as suddenly and inexplicably as she had appeared.

That was the moment everything changed. She had taken his heart with her when she vanished, leaving him with an emptiness that he had never known before. He couldn't explain why or how, but he had fallen irrevocably under the spell of this mysterious woman, consumed by a yearning that he could never fully ignore.

Thank you," Delaney gave a courteous smile as she made her way out of the grumpy lady's office. Anger washed over her as she wondered why the lady was so rude to her. It was almost as if the lady knew her from before. "How rude people can be to strangers." She increased her pace, opening her clutch to bring out her phone. For a minute while she was in there, she thought she heard it ring. "Oh, my God!" Delaney let out a loud gasp as she felt a pair of strong arms grip her by both shoulders just before she fell to the ground. She had just bumped into the hard frame of a masculine figure.
