“Get in the car, Emily."
I am glad Liam didn't reply but a part of me yearns for his sweet words. Maybe he was going to tell me we can start leaving like a normal couple but that is just my wishful thinking.
Liam Nolan will never do anything like that. He is never the type of man to go back on his words but he did it once.
When he found out about my pregnancy in the past, he told me he would take care of me till I delivered but all those promises turned out to be fake when he suddenly changed towards me.
I got inside the car and sat beside Liam in the front seat. He didn't add anything more but his jaw clenched hard.
My body jerked to the front when Liam suddenly started the car and was already driving out.
“Are you okay?" He asked in a high-pitched voice, filled with concern and care. I almost fall again for his cool voice.
“Kiss me, Emily and you will have the key," Liam said with a smug smile.I knew it was just a simple word, but it made my heart beat rhythmically against my chest. Just a kiss but I don't think Liam deserves it.He towed my car away only for me to see it at the garage. Liam must have followed me and he already knew I was angry.Normally, Liam knows I want the keys right now. Maybe he already guessed I needed the piano for something important.“What games are you playing again? You agreed to give me the key." I said in a calm tone.Liam shook his head blatantly while he raised his finger in motion for me to stop.”I didn't agree but I told you to follow me," Liam replied me in his calm, deep voice and fuck, he was right.“I only need the key. We are already divorced, and I am still here because of your father. You don't have to keep passing your boundary." I explained with my eyebrows furrowed. My hands are no longer on my hips, but now I clasp my palms together while I look at Liam wit
I actually thought Liam wouldn't follow me, but the devil was even the one who showed me where the room was. I stepped in without sparing Liam a glance as I walked towards the piano bench in the semi-dark room. The large curtains were drawn a little bit back which made me wonder if Liam came to this room in the past.Liam switched on the light while I sat quietly on the comfy chair in front of the piano. The white light illuminated the room, and I wish I could relish in the beauty of the room, but I know why I came here.I looked behind me to see Liam already leaving the room but I was wrong because he suddenly shut the door. With a sigh, I said, “Are you not going to leave? Aysel is waiting for you." “That is jealous Emily speaking. I owned the house, remember?" Liam responded in a playful tone. He walked towards the couch pushed to one corner of the room and sat down. For real, he is in a good mood, unlike any other day. “You can just give me some privacy," I managed to say before
LIAM'S POVThe drive to the club took me a lot of hours before arriving at the destination. Rylan had already dropped a message that he was in the club, but I ended up leaving the house because my emotions were in turmoil. I could feel my heart weigh with guilt when I saw Emily playing the piano in the room. She seemed so engrossed in whatever song she was playing, but it felt as if I had heard that melody somewhere.Undoubtedly, this wasn't because my dead sister also loves playing the piano, a fact that remained hidden till today. However, it was because Emily also played the piano with a smile on her face, and this time she wasn't faking it but she also cried.I don't know why she did but part of me was curious to know whatever reason it was for shedding that tear. The car pulled at the garage before I stepped out of the car. It was already dark and the city of Los Angeles was already bustling with different neon lights and street light positioned on the side road.Burying my emoti
EMILY'S POV My breath stiffened when I heard the door creak softly. I knew I was supposed to be sleeping, but I woke up in the middle of the night because of the nightmare I had. I pretended to be asleep when I heard the faint echo of his footsteps. It was none other than Liam. He doesn't have to speak for me to know he is the one. But what is he looking for in my room?Annie already told me Liam left the mansion, but why is he back in my room in the middle of the night? The bed dipped because of his weight on the bed, and I steeled myself, not daring to make a move. His mint smell invaded all my senses and I relaxed when he suddenly hugged me from behind.“You are messing up with my head, Emily and you aren't even trying," Liam said in a whisper but I fucking heard every word that came out of his sleep.Funny to realize that whenever I sleep with you, it's different. And no demons are chasing me in my dream. If my eyes were opened right now, I would have rolled my eyes at him becau
The guards were already standing outside the mansion while Thierry was missing. I know he is probably with Liam right now which is why I make my way towards the gym building. The grass on the ground made my legs ticklish but I was more concerned about seeing Liam and his expression once he finally saw what I was wearing. The gym door was left wide open which made me walk in without having to knock to announce my presence.I made my way inside and saw Liam punching the bag in the gym room. His upper body was left bare while sweat dripped down his body. My fragile heart skipped a beat when he finally shifted his gaze to me. His hot gaze traveled down my body before returning to my eyes again.I shrugged my shoulders and walked in deeper. I wasn't dressed like someone who came to exercise in the gym room. Instead, I appeared to be a thorn in the flesh of Liam because he couldn't stop looking at me for like three minutes.Becoming uncomfortable and picking the smallest decibel on the fl
Liam was already done taking his bath. He came out wearing a round polo shirt with a pair of jean trouser that was a little ripped. The clothes fit Liam perfectly and I wonder if there is anything Liam doesn't look good in.Even if he wore a rag right now, I am sure a lot of people will recognize him as the CEO of the LN group of companies.I knew I was supposed to refuse to come with Liam but instead, I followed him in the same car while Thierry drove the car. “Are you still not going to divulge the information now that we are on the road?" I asked Liam with a smug smile.“It's not as if I can get down from here right now. We are already on the road." I added looking at Liam beside me, whose attention was somewhere else.He held the tab in his hand and continued to scroll through it. I know Liam is a busy man, but where is he taking me while also engrossed in whatever he is busy doing?I didn't bother to repeat myself, knowing fully well we would arrive at the destination soon. How
I stopped breathing the moment I stepped out of the dressing room. I don't know if it was because of the way the dress fit me perfectly like it was made for me. I just need to tell Chelsea I won't be wearing the dress.Meanwhile, I became tongue-tied when my gaze suddenly fell on Liam instead of Chelsea.“Holy shit!" Chelsea exclaimed like the psycho she was, but I couldn't even look at her.. instead, my gaze was locked in Liam's, whose expression became unreadable because of the way he looked at me from head to toe.He was drinking in my appearance and I became uncomfortable. Liam shifted in his seat and moved his finger to his jaw, rubbing it slowly. He was supposed to compliment the dress and let me know if it was okay or not, but he just didn't say anything.“Is there another dress she can try on?" Liam said with uncertainty and only then did I realize I was holding my breath.“I think I love this," I told Chelsea, who frantically smiled at me with a wink.I looked at her from the
“I hope you didn't take her words to heart, Emily?" Chelsea asked, playfully pouting her cheeks.I nudged her side with my elbow, still looking at the direction Aysel disappeared to.“I think I have gotten used to her tantrums," I replied in the best natural way I could. Actually, I wish I could believe that, but, indeed, I haven't gotten used to Aysel's attitude because I didn't know what she was capable of. Still, I didn't want to bother Chelsea too much because she also had her life to live. If I had known it was going to be so difficult like this, I wouldn't have started the fight.“I love the fact that you stood up to her, Emily. A part of me has been waiting to see this. I don't have to worry about you anymore. My baby finally grew up," Chelsea ranted before ruffling my hair with her hand.“Who told you I am your daughter, huh? What's with the motherly protection?" I asked Chelsea and this time I was looking at her.“You can't understand even if I explain, Emily but my mind is
“I don't think I can do this, Vee," I said, only for Vincent to shut me up with a raise of his hand. He smiled at me and I could see he wasn't faking it in any way.For the First time, it felt as if this was the first time I would ever see Vincent smile this way. “I thought you would have noticed Emily. I thought I was giving you the signs for you to know that I am actually in love with you," Vincent said, and I shook my head slowly, my palms becoming sweaty.“It wasn't my fault. I mean we are friends. Best friends till we meet again in Los Angeles" I confessed without much difficulty.I didn't stutter or embarrassed myself. I aimed to clear the misunderstanding. I know I somehow use Vincent in order not to appear weak in front of Liam and Aysel. However, Vincent took another step towards me. If 30 centimeters apart before, then I have to say Vincent is breathing the same air as me because there is no space between us anymore.Anytime from now, Xavier's bus will arrive, and I will ha
I couldn't hold my anger in as I get up angrily. I wouldn't let Liam and Aysel disgrace me. However, Aysel turned to face me as if she knew what I had in plan. Maybe she thought I am going to tell Vincent to stood up from the seat then i will hug him but I didn't.“I have nothing more to do here and if you are that curious to know if he is someone I love, then I will give you the invitation card to our wedding" I said and Vincent stood up alongside me with a bow to the two nuisance in front of me.I walked out of the restaurant with Vincent, feeling a sense of relief that the uneasiness I felt is finally over. We walked towards the parking lot and I hop in. Vincent drived us to my apartment but my nerves didn't calm a bit as I get down from the car. There is this funny question heating me up and I wanted to ask him if my guess was true. I don't want to put Vincent in a tight position. Turning to face him as he closed the distance between us, I asked, "Hey, Vincent, can I ask you so
For a second, I thought Aysel was joking but it was all true when I saw the seriousness on her face.”Is there anything on my face Emily?" Aysel asked with a blank expression. “You coming right? I will text you the location" Aysel said as she walked back to meet Liam. The two said something which my ear couldn't pick up before they get inside the car.Vincent turned to look at me with his eyebrows. I guess he is communicating with me slowly to either come with Aysel or we should ditch her.My phone beeped in my hand. I checked the notification and saw Liam text on my phone. Actually, Aysel didn't have my number which was why Liam send the location text himself.“He sent the location. I think we should go" I said and Vincent nodded his head with a smile. He kissed my hand before he etwined my hand with his and dragged me to the passenger seat. Opening the car door, he pulled the door open and I get in.Vincent drove the car to the famous restaurant and help me with the door while Ays
”Hello, Aysel," I start, clenching my hand against my side while Vincent tries to focus his attention on me, but I doubt it would change a thing because I wouldn't act friendly to Aysel today.“Is there a reason I need to reply to that question you asked? I mean, we aren't that close to sharing something personal," I said aloud for her to grasp what I was saying.Liam eyes look in my direction briefly before he suddenly shifts his attention to Aysel. He didn't bother to walk in to explain himself. Perhaps, he thought I would open my mouth and inform Aysel myself that I am working as his secretary.Aysel laughed cutely, covering the part of her mouth with her hand. ”I'm sorry. It's just that I didn't expect Emily to talk to me that way," Aysel lied through her pretentious face as if I was the wicked person here.I scoffed only to notice a change in her expression. “It wouldn't be hard for you to tell me you came here with your new boyfriend," Aysel said with a scornful look.Calming m
It was already three minutes past 4 in the evening when I left my office room and walked towards the elevator. Liam left before me and he didn't bother to strike up any conversation with Mr after the heated argument we had in his office room concerning Vincent.I had to admit that he has been acting weird, which is not something I am oblivious to. It's all written on his face compared to in the past when he was good at masking his emotions but things are different now.“Ms Emily, will you be coming to the party? I heard it was thrown because of you" One of the workers working in the management department said, walking towards. She is a lady in her late twenties with a good petite figure. Something any man would be crazy for because of the way she carried herself with her stunning walking steps. However, I cleared my throat when I realized she just asked me a question and which party she was talking about. Or is anyone having a birthday party which I wasn't aware of?“Is there a party
Call me a Lunatic because the truth is I want to give Liam a slap for calling me a cheating woman when he knows nothing. The fact that he believed whatever lies Aysel told him is still outrageous, considering the fact that I was with him all through and the rare times Vincent appeared varies.“You have know right to say that to me when you are the one having an affair Liam. I only came here as your secretary out of your own will." I said, breathing through my lips as I tried to calm my nerves.”You signed the contract Emily." Liam interjected, acting as if I plead to him to take me back.If only he knew things won't be the same after the 5 month contract expired.“Because you are threaten me with someone else company Liam. You wanted to ruin what Mr Smith has used his life savings to build. You want to ruin it in span of 24 hours" I spat back with venom in my tone.I tried to adjust my expression, taking in a deep breath while Liam only looked at me as I just said something bad. He t
Vincent's eyes followed my direction. I cussed Liam in my mind before returning my gaze to Vincent. Perhaps, it's time to pay back. After all, Vincent will be coming to pick me up in the evening. I can as well act as if I was into him just to spite Liam.“I will be waiting till you get back to pick me up. I am going to miss you, Vincent," I said, and before he could reply to me, I closed the distance between us and kissed his cheek.Vincent's eyes glinted with mischievousness but I smiled to ease the tension.“Take care of your sweet," Vincent said before walking back towards his car, but suddenly, he stopped and walked back to me. My eyebrows raised in question, and at the same time, I felt a cold sweat break on my back. He knew he was looking at our way because he had refused to walk in since the car was parked. As if he wants to see the scene unfold right in front of him.Vincent's hand rested on my shoulder and I tense. “I wanted to adjust the polo." He gave one simple excuse, wh
The sun already rose from the East when I got ready to get to work. I picked up my bag and car key after bidding Xavier goodbye when he got inside the school bus.Turning the doorknob, my eyes widened like a saucer as if I had just seen a ghost, but it wasn't a ghost; actually, Vincent stood in front of my doorstep holding a bouquet in his hand. I smiled like a baby when he flashed me his brightest smile.“Good morning, Ugly duckling," Vincent said with amusement, and I couldn't hold back my smile.“This is a token of my heart to you," Vincent said, and I took the bouquet from his hand. Thank you, Vincent, I said, smiling while looking at the bouquet.“I actually came at the right time. 8 will drive you," Vincent said aloud, and I raised my eyebrows at him in question.“What?" I asked, raising my hands in the air in a dramatic way. The corner of Vincent's eyes twitched, looking at me. “That's ridiculous and I won't allow you to do that," I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm.“Says
I sat at the table, my mind racing with thoughts of frustration and annoyance. Why had I signed that contract in the first place? I blamed myself for being so stupid, for not thinking things through.I couldn't take it anymore. I picked up my bag and stood up, my eyes locked on Liam's face. "I'm out of here," I said, my voice firm.Liam looked up at me, a hint of surprise in his eyes. But he didn't say anything, just watched as I walked away. What did I even expect the devil man to say?I stormed out of the restaurant, feeling a sense of relief wash over me as I stepped out into the cool air. I hailed a taxi and got in because I didn't bring my car along. It was all because of Vincent after all.The driver asked me for directions which I told her before the car drove off. I glanced through the open window, enjoying the view but that was all a lie. Liam didn't come after. Maybe he finally realized I was not going to listen to him. But my freedom was short-lived when my phone suddenly
