32. The Wrong Necklace

Obviously blinded by rage, Vera let her mouth loose without considering first where she was standing.

As she finished speaking, she gasped and covered her mouth.

But her words had already caught Grandma Lily's attention.

The Old Woman all but stood up from the couch with Haley's support, her peering eyes boring through Vera as she approached her. “Can you repeat that, Vera? Do you mean Willy bought a necklace for another girl?”

Vera stammered, “No- No, you heard me wrong, Mother. I- I wanted to say something else-”

And she accidentally spilled a secret.

“Wait… does that necklace belong to you or Haley?” Desmond was equally puzzled, directing his question at Leah.

With each second that passed by, Leah's face turned paler and paler.

She lowered her head, avoiding everyone's gaze, especially Grandma Lily's.

Pushed into a tight spot by Vera who couldn't control her mouth, would Leah be able to save her head?
