Carla’s eyebrows lifted slightly. “Tampered with?”

“Yes,” Sophia said, her eyes darting toward Nina. “The edits were made from another account. Nina’s account, to be specific.”

A ripple of murmurs swept through the room. Nina’s head shot up, her calm facade cracking. “That’s ridiculous,” she said sharply. “Why would I touch your files?”

“I don’t know,” Sophia said in an accusing tone, “but the timestamps don’t lie. Would you like to explain?”

Carla turned to Nina, her gaze piercing. “Nina?”

For a moment, Nina’s composure faltered, but she quickly recovered. “There must be some mistake,” she said, her voice laced with indignation. “Maybe my account was hacked.”

She didn't expect Sophia to be so bold as to accuse her in front of Carla Lennox. She had sabotaged many other designers who she thought were a threat to her.

There is a rumor that Carla might be promoted, and Nina wanted to make sure she would be the one to take over her position.

Emily pretended to be hurt. “Ouch, that hurts, girl.” She winked and walked back to her desk, leaving Sophia alone with her thoughts. As noon approached, Sophia’s nerves were frayed. She’d managed to pull together three drafts using older ideas, but she knew Nina would still find a way to twist things. Just as she was finalizing the third draft, Nina’s voice cut through the office. “Sophia,” she said, sauntering over. “It’s almost noon. Do you have my drafts?” Sophia looked up, her heart sinking. But before she could respond, a sharp clap echoed through the room. “Attention, everyone!” Carla Lennox stood in the doorway, her commanding presence silencing the office. “I have an announcement.” The room fell silent, and all eyes turned to Carla. “Sophia Blackwell,” Carla began, her gaze locking on Sophia. “From now on, you don’t need to submit your drafts to senior designers. You’ll submit th

Zach’s eyes lit up at her words, misconstruing her professional tone. To him, this was easier than he thought. He glanced at his associates, who laughed knowingly. "You’re lucky tonight, Mr. Thompson," one of them teased. Zach grinned his yellowed teeth on full display. Sophia resisted the urge to look away, her professionalism holding firm. She smiled professionally before urging him again, “Okay, your sign, Mr Thompson." Zach took the contract, picked up the pen, and signed quickly without much thinking. He said, "There you go, Miss Blackwell.” Handing it back to her, he added, “Now we can get to the good part. Shall we celebrate properly?" Sophia’s stomach twisted as she slid the signed contract into her bag. “Thank you, Mr. Thompson. I’m sure this partnership will be mutually beneficial.” Zach leaned closer, his breath reeking of alcohol. “Oh, it’ll be beneficial, all right.” He reached fo

When they were a few blocks from the Allure building, Sophia waved Emma and Grace goodbye as she got out of the cab. Her eyes scanned the street ahead, searching for the familiar black sedan. It was parked a few blocks away, the headlights blinking to life as she approached. She smiled faintly, appreciating the driver’s punctuality. As she reached for the back door, the driver’s side opened. To her surprise, Alexander stepped out, adjusting the cuff of his tailored suit. “You want me to be your driver now?” he asked, his voice carrying an amused undertone. Sophia froze for a second, startled. “Alexander? How… How are you here so fast? I left you at the Image Club an hour ago.” His eyes twinkled with subtle mischief. “Thank you?” he prompted, gesturing toward the front passenger door. Sophia’s journey at Allure Fashion was anything but smooth, but her determination and natural talent made her stand out. Late nights working on sketches, brainstorming sessions with Emily, and countless hours perfecting every detail were finally paying off. Her latest project, a line of elegant evening wear, had just received glowing feedback from one of the company’s most influential clients. After the meeting, Carla approached her with a rare smile. “Sophia, that was impressive,” she said, her usually sharp tone softer. “The clients were satisfied, frankly, and so am I. You possess an eye for detail that most designers don't have. Keep this up, and you’ll go far.”Sophia felt her chest swell with pride. “Thank you, Carla. That means a lot coming from you.”“Just don’t let it get over your head,” Carla said with a wink before turning to leave. “Stay focused.”As Sophia returned to her desk, her heart brimmed with excitement. The following morning, after the presentation, Carla called Nina into her office. The usually composed Nina felt a sense of unease as Carla’s sharp eyes bore into her.“Nina, we need to talk,” Carla began, with a stern voice. “It has come to my attention that you’ve been tampering with other designer’s work. Specifically, Sophia’s.”Nina’s face flushed with indignation. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”“Save it,” Carla snapped. “We have evidence, Nina. You’ve abused your position, and this isn’t the first time you’ve been accused of sabotaging a colleague.”Nina’s mind raced. How had they found out? She had been so careful.“As of today, you are no longer the head of the senior design team,” Carla continued. “You’ll remain a senior designer, but you’ll have no authority over other designers. Consider this your final warning.”Nina’s nails dug into her palms, but she forced herself to remain composed. “Understood,” she sa

Sophia strolled along the lake's edge, where the crowd was moderate but lively. She found a picturesque spot and immersed herself in the view. Taking out her phone, she joined others in capturing selfies. In one of her shots, she noticed Marcus and Lila approaching. Her heart skipped a beat, but she quickly resumed her activity, pretending not to see them. "Damn it, they're coming my way," she muttered under her breath. Marcus spoke first, his voice tinged with jealousy. "Sophia, where's your little toy? Has he already grown tired of you?" He seemed relieved to find her alone. Sophia remained silent, focusing on the scenery. Lila, eager to learn about Alexander's whereabouts, was displeased by Sophia's indifference. She stepped closer and asked, "Sophia, why are you ignoring us? Are you still angry?" Sophia's gaze turned icy. "Neither of you is worthy of my anger." Amelia, sitting beside her, had been trying to coax her into leaving for the past hour. “Bestie, you’ve had enough. We should leave,” she said, gently placing a hand on Sophia’s arm. Sophia blinked lazily, pushing the glass away from her lips. “No... I can take a… few more drinks… Amelia.” Amelia stared in disbelief. Sophia was already slurring, yet she wanted more. With a sigh, she reached for the glass and pushed it further out of her reach. “Come on, let’s go,” she said, her voice firmer this time. Reluctantly, Sophia nodded. “Fine, but I don’t want to see him.” Amelia bit her lip, glancing around the bar. She knew who she was referring to but where else should she drop her?
