Evelyn suggested, "Why don't you call Mr. Crawford instead? I think Warren's pretty tired of me by now. He probably doesn't want to see me anymore. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up."

Ethan quickly said, "Evelyn, do you really want to cut ties with Warren completely? Being friends isn't that bad."

Evelyn forced a laugh. "Dr. Xavier, as someone in my position, I shouldn't rely too heavily on my benefactor, should I? I've got other things to attend to, so I'll hang up now."

Her words were clear and straightforward.

After hanging up, Ethan couldn't help but curse. "Damn it, Warren, you deserve this! It's all your own doing. If you had shown Evelyn a bit of decency, she wouldn't have been so cold to you."
