Warren said hoarsely, "Did you listen to Dad and take good care of Mom?"

Bailey barked twice.

Warren hooked the bag in his hand around Bailey's neck and smiled. "This is a present for you and Mom. Can you give it to her for me?"

Bailey yapped obediently and ran toward Evelyn.

Evelyn had just run five miles and was now sweating buckets. Seeing Bailey dashing toward her, she fell backward onto the grass. She petted Bailey's head and reprimanded him gently, "Didn't I tell you not to take things from strangers? Why are you so naughty?"

With a smile, she took the bag off Bailey's neck. Just as she was about to look inside, a familiar, deep voice rang out nearby. "I gave it to him, not a stranger."

Evelyn's smile instantly froze. She slowly looked up to see a tall man standing in front of her. He was wearing a black shirt and gray slacks.

His defined brow looked even more chiseled under the warm yellow light, and his dark eyes quietly and cautiously observed her.
