Warren raised his icy gaze. "What else do you expect?" he asked.

Ethan kicked him. "You're useless. Fight for her. Are you going to wait for Evelyn to send you a wedding invitation before you regret it?"

Warren felt a sharp sting at those words. The thought of Evelyn marrying another man caused him pain. It was as if several hounds were tearing at his heart. His eyes narrowed slightly as a glint of determination appeared on his face.

"Charlie, go to the wine cellar and get that bottle I've been saving," Warren commanded.

Charlie responded immediately with a smile. "Right away, Mr. Larkin. I'll get it now."

His speed was impressive. He was back in less than five minutes, cradling a bottle of long-cherished wine.

Warren took the bottle and strode out of the private room, followed by the cheers of several men.

"Good luck. May your pursuit not end in a funeral pyre."

Evelyn listened intently to Diana talk about industry oddities. Her face wore a gentle and pure smile.
