I wanted to kill Spider. He had been the one to tell me about someone who wanted to meet me and made me leave Klara’s house as soon as dinner was done, only to ghost me.

And after about a thousand calls went unanswered, I gave up on trying to get a hold of him. Then he called at the least convenient time and asked me over. He shielded his head as soon as he opened the door.

“Very smart. You do know I want to kill you.”

He was quick to rush back to the kitchen and bring a bottle of wine and a stem glass. “Red?”

“I would like to remain sober and you better start talking.” I snapped.

He gave up trying to cozy up to me. “I was going to call you over earlier. But the person I want you to meet…well, they are not ready to see you yet.”

Who was he talking about, anyway? He was being so mysterious about it that I couldn’t stop my mind from running wild. “Did you get a girlfriend? Scared I’ll tell The Viper all about her?”
