After the lecture had ended and the professor had left, Lucy looked at Williams again.

She had been formulating various ways she could beg him for forgiveness and convince him to be friends with her and seeing how he answered all the professor’s questions effortlessly made her more determined to win Williams over

Suspect or not, He was useful

Williams started packing his books, preparing to leave and Lucy heart jumped. She didn’t want to miss this chance.

Lucy took a deep breath and walked up to him

“Hi Williams” Lucy said and smiled at him

Williams looked at her and he became shocked but he quickly suppressed his expression and frowned “ What? I’ve already said I’ll stop bothering you so why are you here? “

Williams looked away from her and continued packing his books

Actually he wasn’t really packing anything

Williams had already expected that his information must have already gotten to Lucy and to confirm it he pretended to pack his books into his bag in order to prompt her to act faster. If she didn’t come to him that meant that she hadn’t gotten his information yet.

And it seems he was right, she had already gotten the information

Lucy noticed that Williams wasn’t really packing anything, he was just moving his hands.

‘ Is he waiting for me to speak? ‘

“ I just wanted to say that I’m really sorry for what I said earlier. I wasn’t really in a good mood so I vented it all on you” Lucy looked down and nervously rubbed her hands together

She made sure that Williams saw her actions

A small smirk that wasn’t visible to the eyes rested on Williams face and it quickly disappeared

Williams looked down and his eyes were filled with happiness “ rea... “ He quickly suppressed his joy but it was still visible, he turned his back on Lucy and folded his arms “ Hmph, so why did you just leave me yesterday after I told you that my friend was a victim? You even refused to ask me for my name”

‘If you remembered that I held a dagger to your neck, you won’t ask me this question’

The trace of happiness and his eagerness did not escape Lucy eyes but she could not help but feel suspicious

If he was pretending then she would play along with him

Seeing that the tears were about to drop, Williams used his fingers to wipe them off then pulled her for a hug “ it’s okay don’t cry”

‘ Ahh she is soo perfect, she even knows how to act. If I didn’t know who she truly was I could have fell for it'.

Williams quickly broke the hug and moved back a bit “ I’m sorry I just.... “

“ it’s okay “ Lucy interrupted him “I really needed it”

“ A while after her death, the police closed the case because they could find no leads and evidence, so I decided to investigate it myself and that’s why I was there yesterday “

Williams eyes lit up “ I was thinking.... I dunno, you can reject if you want to, since we are both investigating the death of our friends, why don’t we work together. With my abilities in forensic and your........ Umm what ever ability you have , we will make a great team “

“Really! You want to work with me? “ Lucy was surprised. She had been thinking of how she could convince him to work with her but here he was, offering it to her.

She then brought out her phone and handed it to Williams

He raised an eyebrow “ Why are you giving me your phone? “

“Well since we are now partners, we should exchange numbers so that we would be able to contact each other”

“Ohhh” Williams quickly typed down his number

“I’ll message you”

“I’ll be looking forward to it” He smiled at her

“ Williams!” a voice called out “Professor Hemsworth needs your attention in his office”

“Why is that old geezer calling me?” Williams muttered then went to the direction of the voice

A BUILDING

Lucy sighed as she walk through the dark hallway of the building that contained more than a hundred apartments.

She checked the time

It was 9:00pm

“I’m late yet I was unable to get anything “ she muttered angrily

After Williams left, she went back to the crime scene to see if she could get any more evidence or clue

If she could just get her hand on a body, maybe things could move forward

And that’s why she rented an apartment in this building

This was where the Uber driver was living. After he told her that there were a lot of victims from this area, she decided to stay here instead of staying at the school's dorm.

Lucy got to her apartment and fumbled through the bunch of keys in her hands, in order to find the right one for the door. She felt someone staring at her. She looked at the direction of the stare and saw a man standing at the door of the apartment beside her

‘ Is he crazy! Why is he staring at me like that?

“Hi” She said

He kept staring at her, or rather, he stared through her

She immediately felt something was wrong.

She looked closely and saw that there was no life in his face, His eyes were dim and soulless

“Ahhhhh!!! “The man let out a screech and started scratching his face vigorously “ Let me Go ahhhhh “
