"It was a long time ago, over thousands of centuries ago, the King of the wolves– the Alpha over all Alphas– and his wife were blessed with a child by the moon goddess. They finally had an heir to the throne, after so many years of waiting. The only issue was, their child was a Lycan. The Alpha was indeed stunned, he began to wonder why the moon goddess had blessed them with a Lycan rather than a regular wolf like the rest of them. The child was named Ares. Ares was born with deadly powers, with distinctive features such as a slanted scar that ran from his left eyebrow down to his right cheek. Growing up, he developed into a troubled teen who was short-tempered and had glowing red eyes whenever he was enraged. A few years later something so terrible happened –" Nana paused, her eyes flickering between Ama and I.

This was the part that always had me filled with anticipation. This wouldn't be the first time our Nana had told us this story. It was a rule made by my forefathers that every descendant of theirs must know this. Just like before, I could see my younger sister, Ama, shaking her head in disagreement with what was about to come.

I looked back at our Nana and she smiled, her wrinkles creasing further.

"The Alpha and his luna were murdered by wolf-hunters, human wolf-hunters. And all hell was raised between the humans and the wolves. Now the owner of the throne, and the king of the Alphas over all, Ares had enough power to extinct half, if not all, of the human race. But he didn't, instead, he went after the people who murdered his parents. Indeed he was a man with a heart after all. But that didn't end his hatred towards humans, no, instead it made him loathe them further. He, therefore, brought about a new rule; no wolf under him would be mated to a human. The aftermath of defying his rule was death and if was merciful enough, they would be sent into exile." Nana smiled grimly, her eyes became hazy for a minute like she just recollected a distant memory.

Looking beside me, I could almost see the fumes coming out of Ama's ears. Ama was strongly against dictatorship, she never quite believed the tales Nana told. But for me? I could never get any word out, I always listened with rapt attention whenever Nana told this particular tale as though my life depended on it, not wanting to miss out on any detail.

"This is bullshit, Nana! Why did he do that? That was uncalled for. He can't go against the moon goddess or whatever they called her. I don't believe in any of the crap but I know for sure that mates are destined for each other, just like soulmates. Again, I think Ares was an ass."

Ama was sixteen but had the foul mouth of an angry seventy-five-year-old lady. No one liked to get on her bad side.

Nana and I watched with smiles on our faces as she got ready to stand up and storm off like the other times we were told this tale.

"You haven't listened to the best part yet," Nana announced, halting Ama's movement.

This was the first time she had ever said this. It had mainly ended with when Ares made the new rule. I watched eagerly as Nana grimaced. This wasn't normal, she was supposed to be smiling, rather, she looked pained.

"The moon goddess and other moon deities came up with a solution to tame Ares. The moon goddess blessed him with a mate. Of course, legends have it that he still hasn't met her –"

"Is that the best part?" Ama questioned dryly, looking about ready to bolt.

Nana smiled. "No. But Ares was blessed with a human mate."

Ama's face blossomed with a smile.

"This makes so much sense! Where can I find the moon goddess? I need to kiss her feet." She declared.

Ama groaned after some seconds, "I have to go to bed. I have a chemistry quiz tomorrow."

She gave Nana and I a kiss on our cheeks before walking out of our small living room.

We've both been living with Nana ever since we lost our parents when I was just four years old and Ama was barely a toddler. Immediately Nana had come to our rescue and taken us in, she lived in a small town, called Lake-town, which was mainly surrounded by tall trees and shrubs. The houses here were not as big as the ones in the city, no, the ones here were generally cottages, cabins, and a few vintage homes, with just one public college which I attended, one high school which Ama attended, one hospital where Nana worked as a nurse part-timely and a lot of other 'ones'.

I looked back at Nana to see her gaze already on me. "Akira, do you know what a mate means?"

I slowly shook my head.

"Every human has a mate. Even supernatural creatures such as Lycans and werewolves all have destined mates, chosen for them by the moon goddess. A mate feels every flicker of emotion running through their other half and they will always want to be close to their mate."

I nodded my head slowly, still not understanding where she was going with this.

"I want you to know that the moon goddess has a purpose for everyone. Ares might seem brutal but all he needs is a mate to love him for who he is and teach him the art of forgiveness."

I frowned, "But Nana-"

She promptly stood up, making me pause. She walked over to the little cushion I was seated on before bending down to smoothen the bangs over my forehead. The streaks of grey on her hair shown in the dim moon light filtering into our little sitting room.

"Hush my grandchild, for soon, the truth shall prevail," Nana said, her face stern and her voice serious.

I watched, confused, as her attitude swiftly changed. "Come on! I'll make you some tea." She was smiling in a heartbeat as she joyfully walked into the kitchen.

After making us both some tea Nana retired to her bedroom, mumbling about how much knitting she had to do tomorrow.

I sat quietly In the living room, listening to the crickets chirping. After a few minutes of pondering on what Nana said, I stood up and walked to my bedroom.

My short legs led me to the little bookshelf in the corner of my room and I wasn't alarmed when the next book I picked was a book about Lycans.

~

"Your smoothies always taste so good, Akira." Eve moaned, taking another sip of the cup of smoothies.

Nancy and Josh both nodded in agreement.

"Buuuuuuut, her Nana's cookies are the best! Can I get that?" Josh countered, his green eyes fluttering cutely.

I nodded, a smile on my face as I quickly wrote down his order. It was a Friday afternoon and my friends decided to visit my Nana's little cake shop, where Ama and I helped out.

"By the way, have you thought about it yet?" Josh suddenly raised and they all turned to look at me expectantly.

I placed the little notepad in my front pockets and lay my hands on the flat surface of the wooden table, before giving Eve my full attention. "Thought about...what?"

Eve looked at me like I was crazy. "Don't tell me you forgot!"

"If you don't want to go to the party, all you have to do is say no, Akira." Nancy snapped, drawing in the last bit of smoothies through her straw.

My face quickly flushed at her accusatory tone.

Eve gave her a warning look before glancing back at me with a pitiful look on her face. "The party, Akira. The one where all the cool kids will be attending."

I loved Eve to death but these days all she wanted to do was be with the cool kids. Although Nancy has a hand in her sudden change of heart.

She had always been the most outspoken one out of the both of us, I was the meek and timid one. Eve was a blonde with beautiful blue eyes and an outstanding slim figure, she was breathtaking. She usually had guys flocking all over her anytime we were out together, which was usually a good thing since I never really liked any form of attraction and had always loved living in her shadow.

"I don't think I will be able to make it, Eve. My Nana had warned me about how young girls and guys of our age are mysteriously going missing. I d-don't think I can take that risk, guys." My hands instinctively went to the edge of my apron, and I suddenly began to feel little.

They all looked at me dumbfounded.

"I told you she wouldn't go." Nancy grinned maliciously. "After all, she is nothing but a scared little virgin."

Unshed tears filled my eyes at her words. This was exactly how I envisioned this conversation to play out and I was so not prepared.

Eve tugged my hands down, clasping in tight in her palms. "Come on, Eve! It'll be fun, I promise. Besides, Josh and I will be there to protect you."

Nancy quietly snickered at her last sentence. My palms suddenly became sweaty and all I wanted to do then was run to the back room and cry.

I swallowed the huge lump lodged in my throat before replying with a phoney smile. "Alright then. I'll go. What time is it?"

Eve gave me a large grin, showcasing her straight, pearly whites. "Not like you had a choice, I would've dragged you there myself if you said no. I'll pick you up by 7."

I gave her a curt nod, right when I turned to walk away, Nancy harshly gripped my wrist.

"And please, for the love of God, Akira, dress sexy. No more grandma gowns." She sneered looking at the length of my gown with distaste.

I frowned as she released my wrist, listening to Eve chastising her as I walked away from their table to the counter.

"What happened?" Ama asked immediately she saw my face.

She looked down at my left hand cradling my right wrist. Her eyes flashed with anger at the red and angry bruise looking right back at her. My skin was pale so it was easy to bruise.

"Don't tell me that bitch did that to you."

Ama and Nancy had never really liked themselves ever since Nancy became friends with us, or Eve rather.

"I don't think she meant it," I answered softly. Looking down at my gown, tears filled my eyes again. I had always had a thing for Victoria Era vintage gowns which I always got from the thrift store a few blocks away. This particular gown wasn't even as long as she made it up to be.

Ama gave me an unbelievable look. "Oh, please! That girl hates your guts and you know it."

I gave her a reassuring smile. "I know. I can take care of it, I promise."

"I have to go. Duty calls," I announced, nodding towards the older couple that just stepped in, brushing off the unsure look she gave me.

Soon, it was six pm, Ama and I locked up the shop and headed home. Occasionally talking about everything and nothing as we took the short trek to our home."I have about forty minutes to get ready for the party." "Yup, you're lucky you have me as a sister," Ama smirked as she unlocked the door, my legs already wishing for a break after a long day.Immediately we stepped into our home, a familiar sense of comfortability washed over me, making me release a huge breath."Come on! Go freshen up so I can dress you up." Ama shouted, snapping me out of my thoughts.I pouted, " I don't want any of your short dresses, Ama."She quickly gave me the stink eye. "You don't have a choice. You have to prove to fancy Nancy that you're not stuck-up."Although I wanted to tell her that I didn't have to prove anything to anyone, I ran to the bathroom to shower as fast as possible. When I was done, I called Ama and we both started raiding my closet for an outfit worth wearing to a college party going to

I woke up with a throbbing head. My body was aching and I was bruised, long purple bruises on the side of my thigh like I was dragged against gravel. My stomach was grumbling for food and my right heel was missing. I quickly sat up from my spot on the cold floor and looked around, I realized I was in a cell, a cell in what looked like a dungeon. There was not a single window in sight, only a huge iron door.It suddenly clicked to me that we were kidnapped. I was scared thinking about the shock my sister and Nana would be going through by now.A broken whimper had me turning my neck. Someone was here with me. And I only hoped it was one person. I crawled to the side of my cell and whispered. "Eve? Is that you?"I heard sniffling before a croaky female voice responded. "I'm Lenny, I think your friend was taken to the other dungeon."I held onto the cell railings that separated us. "My name is Akira. Do you have any idea where we are and who took us?"She moved a little and I realized

It was finally the day of the annual ball. It was frightening how much I was growing accustomed to this prison.Over the week, I had been whipped once, when I slept past the time we- the maids-normally got up. But l was still rebellious and Madam Yelena still loathed me. It was a win-win situation. We were all dressed in a different maid attire. It was a black French maid attire, with a white ruffled half-apron, stockings and black high heels. I was curious as to why we were given a different attire but when I saw the lustful stares of the male wolves, I suddenly knew why. The male slaves were on black slacks, a white dress shirt and a white apron. Some of them were teenagers while others were young adults. The mansion was massive, it was built in a Beaux-Arts style with Greek and Roman adornment. It also had; arched windows, grand arched entryways and stairways and polished marble floors. It embodied large rooms with ornate interiors. It truly was magnificent. The dining hall I was

It has been a week since the ballroom incident and it was safe to say I had officially lost my mind.I hadn't seen him ever since that night, of course being a common maid I didn't expect to see him all the time. Hence, it came as a huge shock to me when Madam Yelena assigned me to clean the Alpha's room. I wasn't a highly ranked maid, if that's even a thing, like Carla. I was on my way to the Alpha's quarters, which was on the top floor, with my cleaning equipment when Carla stopped me. "Hey!" She greeted, a large grin on her face. "Where are you heading to?"After abruptly leaving my room the last time, Carla had avoided me, turning down the halls once she saw me or pretending like she never saw me."The Alpha's quarters." I grimaced, nodding upstairs. Although there was something in me that wanted to see him, I was still nervous. It was desire mixed with fear. A deadly combo. "He'll be back soon and I know you're still scared of him." She gave me a knowing smile. "Come on, I'l

Serena was her name but she acted the opposite of the meaning of her name. Although she was extraordinarily stunning, she was a major bitch. Beside her were two other she-wolves, they were also impressively tall and beautiful and they looked amused with the scene in front of them. Serena stepped closer to us, a look of disdain on her face as she looked at Eve and I. "I asked a question, slaves!" I, involuntarily, stepped back when she barked out the sentence at me. Even though everything happening was almost comical to me, I was still scared of Serena. Carla smirked. "Oh, Luna Serena, I was just warning Akira here, to stay away from the Alpha, since she can't seem to leave his side." Eve immediately came to my aid. "That's a lie, Luna Serena. She -" "I didn't ask you to speak." Serena snapped, but her gaze never left my form. She then chuckled, "So it is true then, you're his next little whore." She stepped in front of me, she was well over six feet and I was a dwarf compared t

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved the moon and the stars. Months ago, I saw a post on P*******t about the moon and the stars. The poster had described the stars as symbols of truth and guidance and the crescent moon; a symbol of new beginnings. But as I gazed into the moon and saw how dim it looked, I realised that my life would never have a new beginning. I was a little ball of lightness being sucked into a world of darkness and misery. Ares was a troubled man. A man with his past clutching onto him tightly. Refusing to let go. I let out a deep breath as I recalled the latest events. With Serena being a major bitch, Ares– the dominant and calculative man, being an unjust jerk and me, Akira the slave, stuck in the middle of all the chaos. Footsteps behind me shook me away from my dark thoughts. I looked beside me to find the silhouette of a male. He stepped forward and I was met with a tall, lean young man. He looked my age and he was very handsome. He walked t

ARES' POV As I watched them laugh together in the garden last night, my hands clenched the tumbler but as he put his hands on MY Akira, the glass shattered in my hand. I didn't flinch as the shards of glass pierced into my skin. I knew I was a dick with the way I was treating Akira, and putting her in the dungeon and seeing the broken look in her eyes almost made me change my mind. But once I decided to let her go just like the way I did during the Annual ball, then the rumours already speculating would worsen. I downed another glass of scotch in one gulp as I reflected on the first time I saw her. Right at the edge of the fountain, her red hair had initially drawn me and I was standing in this same position but it was her blue eyes – blue little orbs which looked like they could look into my soul– that drew me in. My cock hardened when I remembered how she looked on the day of the Annual ball. Her dress was short and the pale skin that was shown to every man-made me wanted to kill

ARES' POV My expression was blank when she stepped into my office. I could see the look of fear and apprehension on her face as she walked closer to the chair across my desk. She paused and looked at it before her blue eyes met mine. "Take a seat." I nodded towards the leather chair as I unbutton my coat and stalked towards my chair. Pleasure coursed through my veins at her act of obedience. She hesitated before sitting down, folding her hands on her lap as she sat down like a good girl. "Akira," Her name flowed from my mouth sensually. My voice was hoarse from the desire I was feeling and she was only in a fucking maid attire. The blush on her cheeks had me thinking about what her ass would look like when my palm connected with it. My cock strained against my zipper as she licked her full bottom lip. I could see the questioning in her eyes. It was a bright Saturday morning and all the maids were busy with one chore or the other. I had specifically chosen this day for what I had

AKIRA'S POV SIX YEARS LATER. "Fuck, harder!" I whispered harshly into the moist air in the backseat of the car. I was suspended up in the air by his arms and Ares was pounding into me furiously from his spot on the leather seat. He heeded my instructions and his thrusts began harder, deeper, his cock was hitting me in places only he could reach. He shoved two fingers in my mouth. "Suck on them." He was panting hard and his demand was loud and clear. "Hard. Make them wet, baby." My pussy spasmed at his dirty words and I felt moisture coming out of me as I gagged and choked on his relentless fingers. He abruptly removed them from my mouth and my mouth parted in a silent scream when he began to rub swift circles on my swollen clit. I craned my neck to see what he was doing but my swollen tummy was in my view. "Fuck, fuck, fuck." I panted beside his ear as my pussy began to contract tightly on his cock as his fingers and cock worked in cooperation. I slammed my lips on his as

AKIRA'S POV After I spoke with Nana last night, I refused to go down for dinner even after she and Madam Yelena asked me to. Instead, I ate on my bed and listened to the chattering and laughter from them with pain in my heart. , I know it was wrong of me to still isolate myself even after what Nana and I spoke about but I needed last night to regroup. I needed that time alone to cry and myself together for the last time. I knew that no matter how much I needed to forgive Ares, I also needed to forgive myself. I needed to stop blaming myself and Ares for what has happened. And I knew that soon, the Moon Goddess was going to bless Ares and I with another child. And if it was meant to be, she was going to restore my powers. Waking up this morning was really refreshing. I woke immediately I heard the bedroom door beside mine slam shut. AKIRA'S POV It's been a week since Ares and I last spoke. After he told me about Lenora and how she and their baby were killed by Salvatore, I had asked him to leave the room and ever since then I haven't spoken a word to him. I still haven't gotten over the fact that our baby was gone. One part of me was simmering with anger and blaming Ares for everything, while the other part was telling me to forgive him, even if he hid an important part of his life from me. I needed time away from him for our good. I needed to think and get myself together. I was in my room but everything still felt foreign. I was physically and mentally exhausted and I was also nauseous continuously crying and throwing up at every chance. I stiffened when the door to my bedroom creaked open and the sounds of footsteps shuffling inside had me wincing, I didn't want anybody to see me like this. Thankfully, I was facing the other part of the room and I waited for them to realise that I didn't want to talk to

THIRD PERSON'S POV.Alpha Ares was proud of his doings. He has grown up to become a very strong and powerful Lycan and Alpha who was widely known around the world. But lately, he had been feeling really... empty, putting it lightly. He looked at the sky, the Moon Goddess was really testing his patience. It has been thousands of years and still she hasn't given him a mate. It was really getting to him. He looked beside him to find his Beta, Czar, looking as sullen as ever. Czar had lost his mate but it was almost a damn year and he still hasn't gotten over her death. Was this how he was going to be for the rest of the damn year? Ares thought with pity. But he didn't say it out loud. Probably because he didn't know what it felt like to have a mate, hence he kept his mouth shut. They were both sitting on a bench in the garden with a bottle of Cheval Blanc between them. While Czar was still nursing the loss of his mate by getting drunk every single time, Ares was nursing the absence of

My heart started thumping hard and I quickly opened my eyes only to be welcomed by the harsh light. I squinted, taking in my environment. King-sized bed, royalty bedroom, and a fresh and woodsy scent. I gasped. I was back home. Back to Ares. I tried to regulate my breathing and concentrate on the variety of emotions going through me. Most of them were from Ares. They ranged from anger to disappointment and then sadness. Where was he?My hands quickly flew to my bump only to be met with a flat surface. And pain. AKIRA'S POV I woke up a few minutes later, my head began to spin as I tried to blink my eyes open, my limbs felt like jelly and as I attempted to raise my hand, I realised that I was paralysed. All of what happened a few minutes ago came back in a rush and fresh tears began to stream down my face. Why did Ares not tell me all of this? Why did he keep this away from me? I gasped and turned around, trying to find the one person responsible for this. "What did you do to me?" I glared at Serena who was sitting on Elizabeth's favourite couch without a care in the world. She giggled. "It's a little something my mother gave to me. I knew it would knock him out really fast but I was told it would only last a few minutes for witches." As she spoke she was sneaking glances at Salvatore whose hands were bound to the table behind him. "Why did you do that to him?" I questioned suspiciously. "Aren't you guys accomplices?" AKIRA'S POV"Shit!" I cursed out loud for the seventh time in an hour. It was making it a week since I've been living with Elizabeth and so far she has taught me a lot. But today wasn't going as planned, I was outside our little bubble today and I was trying out chlorokinesis on my own. I had urged Elizabeth that I needed to learn how to master chlorokinesis on my own. Of course, Elizabeth had taught me how to revive, wither and accelerate plant growth but I had begun to realise that I couldn't perform the power without her help. It wasn't just that Elizabeth wanted me to learn it on my own, I was also particularly interested in it. Telekinesis, pain infliction and the others had been very easy to learn and control but chlorokinesis was killing me. Perspiration lined up on my forehead as I huffed and tried to concentrate. I looked at the dead vines on the ground and sighed, Elizabeth had taught me how to uproot them and manipulate them at my will. But now that she wasn't here to e

  • Destined for the Alpha King   Chapter 30

AKIRA'S POV It has been four days ever since the witch saved my life and it turns out that pain infliction, telekinesis and element control were not the only powers I was blessed with. There was also channelling, spell casting, mind compulsion, healing, superhuman strength and of course, longevity. Elizabeth mentioned earlier how the powers of a witch don't just come at once and how she was sure I still had a long way to go. Living with Elizabeth has been much of an eye-opener for me. She didn't just teach me how to control my powers, she also thought me how to fully nurture them. I was seated on the porch outside her house. Apparently, Elizabeth was an old witch. She has been in existence way before Ares was born– during the reign of his father, the Alpha King– and I knew Ares was thousands of years old. She was an ancient witch blessed and cursed with immortality, she had said. I sighed out loud and stared ahead. All I could see were plants and flowers, from where I was seat

AKIRA'S POV The pounding of my head woke me up from unconsciousness but it was the pain in my shoulders that jerked me up. The pain was like needles that had been dipped in alcohol had been jammed through my skin. I winced– trying so hard to contain my sobs– as I tried to study my surroundings. I was on a bed, it was small and I was covered with a soft quilt. I looked around, my pounding head was trying so hard to figure out where I was. The room was scanty, with only a bed, a wardrobe planted next to the wall and a mirror dresser in the corner of the room. The room was really small. I struggled to stand up and once I did, I made my way to the small window in the room and peeked outside. I couldn't contain my shock once I saw what was outside and a gasp escaped. It was so green outside, the small compound was filled with plants and beds of flowers. It almost looked like a fairytale with the way the sun was shining down on them.
